Bones
Unfortunately we didn't see the meteor shower a few weeks ago as it was mostly cloudy but it was magical anyway in the wind with the clouds flowing over the hills, the bright moon and just a few stars. Up here we take what we can get.
My left leg got sucked into a bog hole too, there's always something eh. Good times.

As you can probably imagine we don’t get very many cloudless, moonless nights in Donegal, Ireland but we’re having a very cold April. So when you check the forecast and it’s not only going to be dry but it’s actually going to be cloudless you realise you must get into the car and head for the hills! But first you must grab a photography friend who will bring some tea and chocolate, these items are essential for surviving night time photography trips. Also gloves. So after capturing the sunset at a lake we headed off into the hills and could not believe just how dark it was. Luckily we were also armed with a torch. Unfortunately my tripod wasn’t in the mood for a late night photography trip (or any photography related activity at any time) and refused to co-operate to even the most basic of tasks. Two broken tripod legs and a head which didn’t grip my camera at all left me feeling very nervous sitting in ... more »

This is the second photo I'm picking from Sicily. It's a self-portrait type shot I took on the first day of our honeymoon. When we happened upon these lovely steps, there was no one around so we sat down to take a break. The sun was shining, the company was perfect and we could see the sea. It was one of those moments I knew would stay with me, so being a typical photographer I set the camera up. For me it captures the feeling. Also my dress matches the flowers. #AccidentalaestheticsFTW #Sicily #Taormina #Romance

Hey everyone! *Can anybody help?*
A friend of mine has set her sights on the Nikon D800 and now we're trying to figure out DX from FX and well it's all confusing stuff. So I was wondering can anybody recommend some good FX lenses and does anybody have any experience using DX lenses on a full frame camera? Will she explode? Probably not but any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much!

Day Dreamer
Things have been pretty hectic to say the least, but I wanted to pop by and say that yes I do still exist. Hello! My camera must be getting dusty by now but I'll be dusting it off very soon and warming it up. I can't wait.

“I look up at the night sky, and I know that, yes, we are part of this Universe, we are in this Universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the Universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up—many people feel small, because they’re small and the Universe is big, but I feel big, because my atoms came from those stars.”

The Skeleton Of The Sea
This is Bád Eddie. A very bad Eddie. No, just kidding, that's the Irish for Eddie's boat as this wreck lies in the bay of Bunbeg which is a Ghaeltacht region in west Donegal. I don't know much about it other than that it was run ashore in rough seas sometime in the 70s.
As I mentioned in my last post this is where I met the lovely +Athena Carey and had yummy tea and biscuits. I remember the important stuff! Well my toes still remember the cold and I have since bought several pairs of thermal socks. Next time I'll be more prepared, I swear.
Well I suppose it's time for some tea and biscuits. Oíche mhaith!

Hi everyone! How are you all? I'm trying to be more active on here again and start pressing that button on my camera more. It's a fine button altogether, I should really be pressing it.
I recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon in West Donegal with the lovely +Athena Carey and the could-do-with-a-lick-of-paint Bad Eddie. Photos of Bad Eddie to come. In other more chocolatey related news (I know why you're here): Swiss chocolate is super delicious.
This however is a photograph of Downhill house in Northern Ireland beside Mussenden temple. I'm posting it today because as I'm sure you all know there's nothing scarier than long exposures of tourists on a sunny day posted the day before Halloween. Spooky or what!

So I was just trying to put my Tokina 11-16mm back on my camera and it won't lock on (y'know what I mean? I'm not hearing the click and when I turn on the camera it doesn't know what's happening).. anybody have experience with this happening to a lens/how to fix it? Lovely sunset out there and I'm missing it fiddling around.

The wind was blowing up there!
I forgot about this, I was only up there for a few minutes and it was too windy for setting up my tripod/my sanity (brrrrr). It's a lovely spot though, I think next time I'll go in the Summer. Whenever that is. I think this is from February - I could check but that would ruin this rambling post that's going nowhere.

Good afternoon/evening/morning G+:
I have a problem and am looking for help.
Like many others, I have been unemployed for 1 1/2 years now and have been actively seeking a JOB (average of 5 to 10 resumes sent out daily). I am running out of benefits and will have no income within the month.
I am not looking for nor do I want sympathy, just gainful employment.
Here are some of my qualifications:
Employee management
Budgeting and financial analysis
Point-of-Sale solutions
Food service regulations
Marketing and event planning
Inventory management
Personnel training and mentorship
Labor cost analysis
I am willing to relocate almost anyplace
All I want is the chance to work again.
I am sending this out public, so as to reach as many people possible who may have a job or who may know someone that does.... more »

Great, there's a rainbow!
Ok, just gotta set up this should just take a sec..

Maybe it's still in that jumper from yesterday?
Or my jacket pocket. Hmm.. nope.
Oh well, I have one with a wire too. Oh dear, the wire's pretty tangled.
Right finally got it untangled, rainbow's still there.
Connection breaks inside camera.
Hmm..
Rainbow's nearly gone now.
Screw it, get in the water and press the button.

Since Paddy's day (Paddy not Patty, ahem) is coming up I thought I'd take this opportunity to share the lovely Lisa Hannigan. You may recognise her/her voice as she sang with Damien Rice for years but now she's solo. She seems to be one of those genuinely lovely people and here she is getting covered in paint. :)

I tried to find a nice quote, and then thought of Jeff Bridges and thought this was way funnier.

The Bridge of Sorrows - The Crying Bridge - Droichead Chaointe
The tearful farewell spot for thousands of Donegal immigrants as they walked to the port of Derry to travel to Australia or America. I'm showing the view from the bridge in this photo and not the bridge itself, I got a stronger feeling from being on the bridge than by showing it. It's somewhere I would like to revisit and spend some more time as this time I just jumped out of the car for a few minutes.
"The name has come down through oral Irish folklore and in the local Falcarragh area it is known as "The Crying Bridge"; in Irish = Droichead Chaointe (Chaon = to cry) or Droichead na ndeor (na ndeor = tears). "The Bridge of Sorrows", is a more recent but acceptable translation for the bridge."

Hello Googlies. I'm reaching out to you today to see if we can put the power of this unbelievable and unmatched artistic community to work. As most of you know I've been working hard in hopes of transitioning completely to photography as a full time job. Thanks to the fantastic people here on G+ I've come so far in such a short time. Now comes the next step, and that's where I need your help. I badly need to upgrade my rig before I can finally take that leap, so what I want to to do is offer a special rate on prints to my favorite bunch of people in the world. I've gained so many followers here thanks to the love I received from the core group of us that have been here since the beginning that if a mere 1-2% of you bought one print each at $20 it would cover everything I need to dedicate myself completely to my passion. That seems very doable to me. I promise to you that every cent I... more »
