Filmed rehearsal winding down.I Had a great time comparing notes with jazz violin legend Karen Briggs (Ianni,Stevie Wonder, Stanley Clarke,) today, during Cheikh Ndoye's rehearsal, on the the process of improvisation as it happens in real life at the highest levels in comparison with the prevailing academic teaching paradigms at this time. Unsurprisingly we agreed on  every count. Karen also teaches.

Glad to see mindfulness practices beginning to be incorporated in schools (at least, here in the Bay Area).  My daughter tells me she notices a remarkable difference in how the kids behave after just a few minutes of meditation.  Here's an article in the NYTimes about meditation's impact on test scores.

What would you and your friends and students like me to cover in future Youtube videos? Specific Theory applications of what you know? Improvisation as done by masters as opposed to the prevailing "Give'em-tons-of-scales-and-chords-and-that's-it" approach?  :D   or deeper realizations such as explaining how a chord is both major and minor and why, which is more for the creative artists out there? Or how to use the guitar itself as a tool for manifesting your genius ( yes you have one if you care to access it and want to work at it..) via inherent geometric visualizations... I am considering one on how to polish rough picks, or books I have read and why It affects music; Just don't ask me how to sound just like your heroes... Other people are covering that topic on Youtube already :) Thanks!

I have been recording and mixing as a professional since 1974 AND I studied many books for a year, read every trade magazine, and assiduously frequented studios in the 80s and 90s even if just as an observer. It takes years and is not a matter of gear. High end classic Gear is the crowning touch to a great production, But one has to be able to create it with art and experience first... Only then will one actually know the real value and precise function of high end studio gear.
