I asked +Jake Johnson for a photography assignment . Talk about everything falling apart. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
The Boston Marathon, the fertilizer factory in Texas, and then my computer was infected with malware & 17 viruses. 
I had much bigger plans for this picture, but I am letting it go ,as is.

HELLO G+! I was hoping to call on my G+ friends and family for a little help for our daughter Miriam.

Many years ago we found out about a procedure that could help our now 8 year old blind/autistic daughter Miriam see for the first time in her life. (Some of you have come to know her on G+ as the little girl with a BIG hard to come by photo smile.) The revolutionary procedure has been had by many people we know with much success but it is still in testing and not available in our country (though they say soon) which means it is costly and not covered by insurance. We have friends with blind children who can now see and we so very much want that for our daughter. We raised about $1400 many years ago but we suffered a very emotional miscarriage and had to postpone fundraising.  We have now decided that it is time to start once again adding to the savings weh... more »

Tunnel in the GSMNP. The Appalachian Trail used to run thru this tunnel, or so I am told, until the park service rerouted it. I do not know when this happened, but I am guessing 25 or 30 years ago at least.

Friends, fans and fellow photographers: 

If you have a few minutes, I would very much appreciate your opinion/critique on something.  I usually don't put much effort into contests, but Digital Photo Pro is having a contest called "Emerging Pro Photographer of the Year," which is is people who have been pro less than 5 years. One of the categories is “Photojournalism and Sports."  I have gotten a lot of experience with sports photography in the last couple of years and have gotten a lot of encouragement from everyone.  I am told that what separates me from my peers is a photo-journalistic style that is uncommon to sports photography. I think this is a good time to try to win something like this one. Yet we are each our own worst critic!  To win a contest the photos have to reach out and grab judges that are looking through thousands of photos. They have to be wellcompos... more »

I had to do a little work on this one. After I got home I noticed that there was red reflected on this plane, from another plane nearby. I think Lightroom did a good clean up job.

Most of the planes were Military training planes. I don't know enough about them to tell any details about year they were made or the manufacture. But there were some awesome colors.

Saturday I left all of my responsibilities and unfinished projects behind and did some hiking. Here is something I found on the trail. A non poisonous snake. Not sure what its official name is, but it looks like what we call a chicken snake.
