I introduced the new intern to my writing at work today. I'm not sure how that went over as I left before he checked his e-mail following a meeting with another co-worker. If you're into really strange short stories with twist endings and far too many puns, you might be interested in my stories.
My ebook Prompted can be bought from the site too!

I know fish sticks are like the lowest rung of fish you can get but I love me some fish sticks. I may have to get some this weekend as a tribute. And some tater tots. Just because one can't have too much fried stuff in their meal.

This little guy landed on my rearview mirror just after I left the office to pick-up the roomie. I was very impressed that he stayed pretty much in the same spot for the rest of the trip, clinging on at speeds just over 40 MPH. The bumps in the road upset his hold and he almost was blown off a few times but he made it home. I hope that's where he wanted to go!

What the fuck #googleplus ?! One of the draws of G+ has been the games. I love being able to chat with friends or checking out notifications while playing games. Now you're taking that away from me? This matched with the layout change makes me think I need to learn how to break addictions.

Oh, I am not liking this new look #Google . It would be nice to be able to have a choice in keeping the old look or moving to the new one. This is just awful.

#naturepicsoftheday Today we only have pictures of Chilly. A sandpiper isn't very common around our parts so I want to send in a picture of it to the local paper. Which do you like the best?

2013-05-15 00:38:40 (0 comments, 0 reshares, 0 +1s)
So I spent another two batteries and nearly an hour watching and interacting with the curlew sandpiper. When I arrived by the cattails, the bird flew over to about six feet from me. A child was noisily roller skating by and scared the bird off. I went around to the logs and shoreline the bird had been on yesterday and there it was. I've decided to call it Chilly as it is reasonably chill as long as I'm four feet from it and because it shakes like crazy in the cold pond water. I took 47 saveable pictures and two videos, including this one where he's eating.

This seems to be the Curlew Sandpiper. It is quite rare in these parts so it was amazing that I got to see it. I hope it stays around so I can see it more.

#naturepicsoftheday At work and the zen pond. I don't know what the wading bird is but it let me get within about 4 feet of it. I was also quite pleased to see that Mr. Mallard has found a Mrs. and they're nesting at the zen pond.

KFC/Taco Bell does interesting math. 2 chocolate chip cookies = $0.98, but 3 chocolate chip cookies = $1.69. I guess if you don't know they're $0.49 each, getting 3 for $1.69 doesn't sound like a bad deal! #TheMoreYouKnow

The new hair color and my second favorite skirt ever owned. The hair is bright red but not as bright as I feared it would be. There's something I forgot about the skirt, it is slit on both sides and when it is windy ... well, it likes to fly up. Doh! Thankfully no one was outside!

Anglerfish
Lophiiformes
Here's something wild. The bigger fish is the female. The two on the bottom are males. They fuse themselves to the female for life. And when they do, they bite and latch on to her and then fuse to her body at the circulatory level like a parasite would. Over time, the males are completely absorbed but for his testicles, which remain outside of her body to fertilize her eggs.
Weird huh?

Squishy eclipse!
This is quite simply one of the coolest and weirdest eclipse pix I've ever seen: today's annular eclipse at sunset, with atmospheric distortion squashing the Sun!

Rosette-nosed Chameleon
by Igor Siwanowicz
I have never heard of this one before. I like it for it's weirdness.
The rosette-nosed chameleon is a small East African species, found in virgin forest and woodland of both the eastern and western Usambara Mountains.

I knew there was something I was wanting to post about. At the food pantry they had a shelf of really old books, stuff mostly from the 50s to 70s. The sign says you could borrow or take any book so I took one.
From the back cover: "The voice of the dolls ... brought Sarah up sharp -- dolls talking on the other side of the hedge! Of course, it was only the clever mimicry of a strange little girl playing a frighteningly adult game with them -- putting dangerous words in their painted mouths.
And then Sarah became part of the eerie household nex door, where moods changed with nerve-wracking suddenness, and the coincidence of an accident spelled murder.
No one was safe from the madman who hid behind a gentle facade, for no one knew who he was -- a madman who could have been anyone, including the man Sarah loved ..."
Sounds chilling! The kid passed on ... more »

Lost city is lost no more
It was called Thonis by ancient Egyptians, and Heracleion by ancient Greeks. An important port city to both cultures, it was mentioned in history books, but for centuries its whereabouts have been unknown - until now. The team of French marine archaeologist Dr. Frank Goddio recently discovered numerous ruins four miles off the Egyptian coast: Here's a picture of a massive statue being raised from the ocean floor.
- Read about it on the +Weather Channel: http://goo.gl/eYPVr

Australian Snubfin Dolphin
Orcaella heinsohni
New Species of dolphin. It closely resembles the Irrawaddy dolphin and was not described as a separate species until 2005.
The Australian snubfin dolphin has been recorded across northern Australia, from WA to Queensland, where it inhabits rivers, estuaries and coastal waters.
