It's Just A Jump To The Left
After our sunset shoot at Forresters Beach +Ana Andres +Ali Sadreddini +Jason Ruth +Jason Baker +Keith McInnes Sharon McInnes +Michael Blyde +Rodney Campbell +Grant Galbraith Belinda Campbell +Dianne Hall +Andrew Hellmich and myself then turned our lens to the real reason we gathered here this day. Light Painting The Bride.
A huge thankyou goes out to our model bride +Elyse Stone ( +Ali Sadreddini 's fiance) for braving the freezing tempreture on a chilly winter night.
There are more imges to come and a few behind the scene "ghostly shots" as well.

3.....2.....1.....WET!!!!!
Last Saturday a group of Sydney and local photographers, +Ana Andres +Ali Sadreddini +Jason Ruth +Jason Baker +Keith McInnes Sharon McInnes +Michael Blyde +Rodney Campbell +Grant Galbraith Belinda Campbell +Dianne Hall and myself went to Forresters Beach on the Central Coast of NSW for a sunset shoot and a Light Painting session.
Forresters Beach has a lot of interesting rock formations and I was like a kid in a lolly shop with too many image compositions to choose from. I was in heaven with wet feet and often wet from the waist down getting in nice and close to the action as always. :)))
Ali had also invited +Andrew Hellmich from Impact-Images who arranged a wedding gown supplied by Kel-Leigh Couture gowns on the Central Coast to be modelled by Ali's fiancè +Elyse Stone later that night during the Light Painting session. The imag... more »

On A Hunch
Last Monday, 10th June, we here in Australia were blessed with a public holiday to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's birthday, even though her actual birthday is 21st April. I'm not one to argue the point and was grateful for the sleep in. Then around midday I noticed on the Rain Alarm Pro app for Android, a storm approaching from the west and could see that it would only last for an hour the most, as it moves further east out to sea. Within 2hrs I was fed, showered and camera gear charged and packed and was heading out to another Northern Sydney beach I hadn't been to before.
As I drove the hour journey the rain kept falling all the way to my destination. I knew there would be ample parking at the PAID parking area right on the beach and would just have to wait out the storm and hope it passed before sunset. It did and the resulting images to be posted here w... more »

Hargraves Lookout, Blackheath. Part 2
I just love how the light falls across the green fields and the Blue Mountain range.
This Thursday I have the start of another Seascape album as I managed to get my feet wet yesterday. My gamble with the approaching storm paid off. :))))

Hargraves Lookout, Blackheath
"A pleasant drive to the western end of Shipley Plateau passing local apple orchards will bring you to Hargraves Lookout and provide magnificent views over the rural Megalong Valley." As quoted by +Visit NSW
Blackheath is part of the Blue Mountains just a 1hr 30min drive west of +Sydney .
Next Tuesday I will divert from B&W with a splash of colour taken at the same location, this time looking further to the right, of rolling hills.

Welcome to #ParadigmShift #5
For #ParadigmShift #5 I'm sharing with you guys one of my favourite images I recently shot. Last weekend I did an impromptu short photo walk at a South Melbourne Pier and then ventured off to St Kilda Pier in Melbourne, Australia. See all my pics here:
http://www.paradigmblue.org/website/portfolio/sth-melbourne-st-kilda/
I found St Kilda Pier fascinating - not so much being on the actual pier, which was a little boring, but the scenery around the base of the pier - especially the rock platform running parallel along the pier. One thing that struck me was how long St Kilda Pier actually is - it's huge!
It got me thinking about embarking on a project to photograph all of Melbourne's beautiful bay beaches. Now that would be awesome!! If only I had the time :)
Anyway, for #ParadigmShift #5, I'll actu... more »

Now For Something Different
+Stephen Godfrey organised a Street Photography Photowalk in Newtown last Saturday and layed down a few themes that we should stick to. Well they ziged and I zaged. I find Street Photography intimidating at the best of times. Give me the wide streets in the CBD and I can cope to some degree. Newtown however has very narrow streets and therefore the people are way too close for my liking. There were plenty of "characters" roaming around but I chose to photograph another "character" of Newtown, it's #Architecture . In some cases these buildings have been around for over 100 years. All shot with my Olympus OMD EM5.
Inspiration for these shots go to +Serge Ramelli & +Jean-Michel Berts

+Stephen Godfrey is hosting his annual photowalk in Newtown this Saturday. If you haven't tried your hand at Street Photography this is your chance to learn from a master. Also +Francis Gorrez, another master of the street, will be there to answer any questions you have. Just don't ask me as I make it up as I go along ;))) See you there.

More Than One From An Image
Another image from Elysian Rock Lookout 1.5hrs drive west of +Sydney in the Blue Mountains.
When you have your image in the bag and pleased with the results you should consider taking the same shot again but this time change the orientation of the camera from landscape to portrait or visa versa. Someone might be interested in your image for a magazine and require the vertical version of the scence.

Ode To Ansel
Elysian Rock Lookout is 1.5hrs drive west of +Sydney situated at Leura in the Blue Mountains. You can park opposite the Leuralla Toy & Railway Museum on Olympian Parade, then it's just a short 5min walk to the lookout.
A new series has begun to add to my Blue Mountains album. Over the following Tuesdays we will get a glimps of a few lookouts around the Blue Mountains region. Some in B&W and some in colour.
This shot was taken with my Olympus OMD EM5 with a Hitech 3stop grad filter and the help of my 52 to 77mm step-up ring.

The End
Image 8 and last for this series of +The University of Sydney adventure. What ever lies beyond this door will have to wait for my next visit. This time with permission and a guided tour. :))) +Sydney Uni was a unplanned unexpected suprise and I just wish I had my tripod to fire off a few 3 shot HDR exposures instead of tone mapping a single image. Oh well you just have to make do with the gear you have.
Next Tuesday is the start of a new series that adds to an existing album the Blue Mountains. A few locations I had been to before at the wrong time of day and a few new finds. I even gave my Olympus OMD EM5 a chance to show it's potential. Sorry Nikon D7000, I am seeing another camera but you are my first choice for seascapes. ;)

The Making Of "There Be Dragons"
I have 2 new sites up and running, www.sydneyseascapes.com which is, as you guessed it's mainly about +Sydney Seascapes. There Be Dragons
I venture out to another "unvisited beach" on my list of 37 Sydney metropolitan beaches to photograph 2 weekends ago for a sunset shoot. This beach is about 70km from home so sunrises are out of the question, plus I prefer sunsets anyway.
The composition of this image is similar to the one I took at South Whale Beach, just a stones throw south of Palm Beach https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107073852799630124249/albums/5672198152305612049/5774583534913250802
I couldn't help but repeat the image as the same vision and feelings were predominant in my mind. If you would like more info on how I go about selecting a beach to shoot just check out my new website's blog page at www.sydneyseascapes.com

Carpe Diem
Image 5, and my favourite, from our ( +Dianne Hall and I) +Sydney University adventure. To the left of the frame and in another room +The University of Sydney had an art exposition on display but the architecture of this building was more appealing and had to be captured. I just wish I had my tripod so I could capture the full dynamic range of light with several images (HDR). This was 1 image taken at 1/50sec, ISO1600, 11mm using my #Nikon #D7000 with a Tokina 11-16mm f2 at f5.6. Processed in LR4, Nik HDR PRO 2, +onOne Software Perfect Photo suite 6.
So the next question is "Did I walk the red carpet???" Well..... there were no signs warning against it or roped off areas...... ;))) Next Tuesday we see how far I ventured.
I have found recently you can have guided tours of most of the buildings at the campus. All you need to do is go the Syd... more »

Hidden Tresure
I found this little gem hidden in with the photos taken on my second G+ meetup with +Giuseppe Basile at Ivo Rowe Pool, South Coogee way back in September 2011. The other photos in this album were my favourite for a long time as it was the first time I used my newly purchased B+W ND110 10 stop filter. That Giu lent me his for a few test shots in our first meetup and I fell in love with it straight away and just had to get one for myself. :)))

+Brian Matiash. Meet Google.
Ever since its launch, +Google+ has always been my favorite place to share imagery and to be inspired by the creativity of this community. It truly is a wondrous place for photographers to learn, grow, and network. That’s why I’m so excited to announce that I have joined the Google+ team as Community Manager for Google+ Photos.
You see, while photography is the thread that weaves through everything I’m made up of, it is the social aspect of sharing, teaching, and inspiring that fuels everything I do. My aim is to help show the world why Google+ and its community of photographers and photography lovers are some of the best on the Internet, throughout the world.
I now have the opportunity to inspire creativity and community within this global population of talented people who are looking to share a piece of themselves... one photo a... more »

Details here https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/c9vi5p9q41f8hlr2bstq6tv7eio
I don't normally spam any of my circles but if you received a notification it's because you are in my "Local Photographers" circle and I thought you might be interested in joining us on the day. It's not too late to sign up and if you come along you could be in with a chance to win one of the many prizes that will be given away on the day. Over $8000 worth in total and rising. +Dianne Hall and I can't wait as it's going to a great day out.
On a side note this was taken at Bondi last year.
