So, I don't like that the new "hangouts" in G+ and Gmail don't have an easy way to tell if someone's online or not.
Am I missing something?

Hint: I don't like it.

Completely see the desire, but the loss of some of those camera functions is unfortunate.
Oh and here's my token frickin' Verizon comment.

And hey, one more app review for good measure. This time it's avast, which along with Lookout was awarded an Editor's Choice rating.

With this, I think Gmail is becoming very close to the perfect email client, and I'm so glad I've stuck with them despite temptations from Outlook and others.

I know I'm way late to the party here, but Google+ is looking incredible lately. From the web app to the iOS and Android implementation, Google+ is really just phenomenal all around.

My review of the Fitbit Flex. Offers the same features found in the Nike and Jawbone trackers (though, some tradeoffs are made), and for $30-$50 less.

I'm getting excited. I was accepted in the early adopter program, though I don't know that I'll get the $1,500 plus airfare and hotel in time to get to Google events.

Facebook phone? No thanks! I'll keep my Google+ phone, thank you very much. (and yes, and older article, but one that still rings true in light of Facebook's event next week)

T-Mo/MetroPCS merger might be a done deal. Which is strange because it makes so much damn sense and could help the combined company compete with the big 3 more than T-Mo's new UNcarrier plans alone.

My second Popular Mechanics piece has just gone live. It's about how to save money on your current cell phone bill by changing some common behaviors. There are certainly more things you can do, obviously, but here are some helpful tips.

I want to like everything Google does, and I truly rely on Google for most of my internetting needs. But I can't come around to trust Keep, and will likely stick with Evernote for a connected note-taking platform.

NVIDIA is understandably disappointed with Windows RT sales, thinks Microsoft will right the ship. Of course, they think Outlook RT will save the day, which is partially spot on and partially nutso.

Interested in a Samsung Smartwatch? Bloomberg reports that it's real, and is likely coming sooner than we think.

T-Mobile LTE coming very soon. The Note II got an update activating its LTE chip, so it and the BlackBerry Z10 will be the two LTE-equipped phones on Magenta in March.

Samsung announced the Galaxy S IV... err... S III S...at an event in NYC last night. The software features had a few things to get excited about, but overall it feels like an iteration, like the next big thing was already here, so Samsung made a nexter bigger thing.
Still, it'll sell millions, and the One will be overlooked like the One X in 2012. It's a damn shame really, because the One is clearly the better 2013 phone.

Android to overtake iOS in the tablet market as early as 2013 as demand for 8" and under tablets increases. Also, costs of $200 or less couldn't hurt.

My response to a Macworld piece this morning about a bigger iPhone. I still think Apple should make a bigger phone and capture that market.

Nokia and BlackBerry are taking very different approaches to the smartphone market, and they both seem to be missing the mark. Will one of them get the formula right and start selling devices en masse?

Can HTC turn it around, or will the One face the same fate as the One X?

Can HTC successfully market the HTC One? We'll soon find out, but unless they do, HTC will continue to struggle in 2013.

I really hope HTC can be successful. I love HTC's phones, and I think their new found focus on emerging markets is a good one, as that is where significant growth will occur in the smartphone market.

It's so weird to call Research in Motion BlackBerry, but I did, and here's what I think about BB10's chances of success in an ever-crowded smartphone market.

Windows Phone 8 is now available and BlackBerry 10 is launching this week. Will they perform, or will we continue to see Android and iOS make up the lion's share of the market (over 85-90%)?
