A quick & simple function to get the average color of a Drawable on Android. 

Anyone got a bit of graphics experience? I'd welcome your comments on the approach I've used here.

In particular, do you think averaging the HSV values separately gives an accurate result? I was considering taking the average of H only, or doing the calculation in RGB.

If you were to compare a few different mobile ad networks, what major features would you be looking at? What would make one network stand out from the rest?

For example:

Interesting - the +Google Search index hasn't fully updated for +Google Play yet. My Android app, Micro CPU Monitor is still showing up under the old url (market.android.com). However, it seems to have been demoted to Page 2. Maybe because of the redirect to a different domain?

With the introducing of Google Play, the focus is on selling entertainment content – not just for Android, but for any web-enabled platform. This positions Google as much more of a competitor to iTunes, with its unified content purchasing platform.

Wow. I've been waiting for an app like this. A full IDE for Android development, on Android. Compatible with +Eclipse projects, and includes real-time syntax checking and code completion. Surprisingly good for a beta version.

Finally it's possible to develop, compile & run Android apps on my +ASUS +Transformer Prime! Now all I need is a good mobile SVN client, and external library support so I can work on my projects remotely with AIDE.

Just fixed a stupid bug in the development version of Micro CPU Monitor which had been bothering me for days. Turns out all I needed to do was shift two lines of code higher, so that I loaded values from SharedPreferences before setting up event handlers for the UI controls.

Sigh - It's always something so simple.... On the plus side, this means you can expect to see a new version of Micro CPU Monitor very soon. New features include "start at boot" and customizable colors! :)

New +Android app released - Micro CPU Monitor

As the description says, this is probably the smallest CPU usage app out there. Only one pixel high! The aim is to make this monitor so tiny you don't even notice it during daily usage.

Give it a go and let me know what you think. I'd love any feedback, positive or negative :) If people find it useful, I'll plan on making a few more in the series (RAM monitor, Network monitor, etc.)

When you're at a public computer and want to log into your Google account, even an incognito window isn't necessarily safe. A keylogger could be recording every keystroke - including your password.

This ingenious login method bypasses the password altogether. Just visit the webpage, and a QR code will be generated. Scan that QR code on your smartphone (Android or iPhone) and you'll be taken to a login page on your phone.

As soon as you confirm the login on your phone, the computer will automatically open up your Google account! Not a single keystroke was entered on the computer itself - not even your username.

This week +Leadbolt Mobile Ad Network announced a new ad format, called an “App Wall”. This is a full-page advertisement, which is actually embedded in a WebView (so no SDK integration required). Version 3.5.0 has been released! No, it's not the ICS action bar (yet!) but rather a slew of upgrades and bug fixes to the 3.x branch.

Major updates in this version:
- Completely redone menu and action item support. This has been backported from the progress made on ABS 4.0 and provides a much more stable and logical layout of action items and management of the menu.
- The compatibility library base has been updated to r6. I have also re-added the *Compat classes that were duplicated by this library and marked them as deprecated.

Download the new version from http://abs.io/. The samples on GitHub and the Android Market will be rolling out this evening as well.
