Long search finally rewarded
Aging controlled by hypothalamus - 20% life extension promised
There were three dominant theories on aging - one claimed that we should have some mechanism for self destruct that is missing from fish. This theory got a major boost when David Sinclair's group found that sirtuins control destruction of cells and are connected with legthened lifespan of low diet mice. Now that signaling gland has been found (or one of them) - hypothalamus controls many aspects of aging in a way that seems to be modifiable at least in mice. The method seems to be patented and if you wish to live longer in the future, you need a license!

Shining sheep, lamb lights - no more dark nights for them
I would rather wish for fluorescent pines and spruces to light up our dark forests during the dark fall when we do not yet have show. That would be both practical and fun. This is tasteless. Also I think it is not safe for the sheep to wander around our forests in the midst of all our wolves, but I guess that is beside the point. Who of you tech freaks will be the first to purchase "naturally" fluorescent woolly pullower? I guess next they will invent a reindeer that has a shiny nose and call it Rudolph? I wonder what these sheep are called?

10 times more powerful and 1000 times faster batteries now produced in small scale. Secret lays in 3D-structure. Scalable but security issues yet to be solved. Promising! This will be a boom for robotic insects and other flying small robots, but possibly also to electric cars and exoskeletons and powerful mobile electronics, mobile projectors and numerous other devices.

3D-tulostin kurssilta jokaiselle kurssilaiselle!
Probably the 1.st course on 3D-printing with a takeaway 3D-printer for each attendee - this time in Finnish only - courses arranged in Helsinki
3 days hands on course on FDM-based open source devices, printing tips, open software and tutorial for modelling. Each attendee will have their own 3D-printer for their coursework and they can take the printer with them after the course.
