It's well-known that the Android marketplace generates a lot less revenue than on iOS. A smaller proportion of Android users are inclined to pay for apps.

So theoretically, I could install a standard Android launcher on OUYA, and just run it like a normal Android device?

A shame it doesn't have an HDMI in port, or else it could have been rigged up to act like Google TV, right?

Certainly less interested in their games store and more interested in using it as an emulator for what I call Nostalgia Consoles.

Having a hard time justifying an 16GB iPad 2 purchase for $319, when I could get a 16GB Nexus 10 for $399 (plus shipping and tax and all that).

Yes, I know AirPlay is good. But sheesh. The prices are so close, especially with so much difference in specs.

Google Glass + fitness tracking info

So, I'm pretty big into fitness, and whenever I go running, I've always got my Endomondo app running, along with my Bluetooth heart rate monitor feeding it data.

I think we all agree that wearable tech is the next big thing, (hence, Glass), but if the Mirror API could tap into whatever data was being picked up by a fitness tracking app, I think that could be powerful.

Some potential voice commands:

Okay, Glass, show me my heart rate.
Okay, Glass, show me my target heart rate zone.
Okay, Glass, show me how far I've run.
Okay, Glass, show me my route.

And on and on.

Now, I'm no video guru, but I'd love to put together a demo video of these "in action" if someone out there has the know-how to simulate the Glass experience over a video.

Thoughts on purchasing a tablet, from a teacher's perspective

It's not often I find myself going down the road of uncertainty when picking a new device, but this is a particularly special use case, and because of it, there's many factors I don't normally take into consideration.

First and foremost, let me be clear: I'm an Android man. I like Android products and the beautiful look of the OS, and normally I'd just default to it, but for the first time in my life, I'm considering buying an iDevice.

Here's why:

For starter's, I need a 10-inch screen. It makes viewing sheet music a breeze, since all I have to do is load up a PDF of whatever I need to look at, and it's all there. Right off the bat, that limits me to the Nexus 10 and a refurbished iPad (probably second gen).

Alrighty, Photoshopping Plussers, I need your help.

I've pulled these dots from a Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps logo and used the magic wand to cut them from their colored background.

How can I get rid of that slight coloring around each circle, though? I'm trying to get just pure white, clean circles, so we can slap them on a soccer jersey.

So, I've been doing some research on Bluetooth 4.0 on Android (like my Nexus 4), and how Google doesn't enable low energy profiles and all that.

Is there a way for ROM developers to cook that in, or is it just a lost cause until Google decides to get on board?

#ifihadglass  I'd show you all the fulfillment and joy in what I do day-to-day: teaching young people how to play musical instruments. I'd show you their struggle, their hard work, and ultimately, their payoff and joy in performance. I'd show you what it looks like to conduct a concert, and for a brief moment, you could be just as proud of these young people as I am. :)
