Amsterdam at Dusk
The nicer part of Amsterdam at dusk. This was my favorite section of Amsterdam canals because they were narrow, lined with interesting buildings and house boats, and had cool bridges across them as you see here. This is just west of Amsterdam Centraal train station in the Jordaan section of Amsterdam. The Herengracht canal is one of the 4 main concentric half-circle canals that circle the center of the city. Brouwersgracht means "brewers' canal," so named because this canal used to have many breweries along it, most of which have now been converted into trendy warehouse apartments.
This photo was taken not too far away from my previous Amsterdam photo http://goo.gl/CDzZf which +Andrew Marston critiqued on his blog here http://goo.gl/oCMlq I decided to take his suggestions and apply them to this new photo before fixing my old one. I realized that I... more »

Tree-top Dining
Welcome to the Sovena Kiri Resort in Thailand where you can eat in a pod at the top of a tree. It looks amazing, but wait, there's mawesome...(new word I've invented)...your food is delivered to you courtesy of a 'flying waiter' who is harnessed to a zip line.

This is not my best shot ever - and that's the point here...
It's also a very ragged and poor little butterfly who survived the winter a few years ago and sat beside the path, warming the broken wings in the sunshine, when I passed by...
Today I've seen a few butterflies in my stream, and also a beautiful moth by +Olav Folland which spoke to the depth of my heart, and which led to the formal start of an informal perfect circle of imperfection.
Or to say it in simpler words: imperfect beauty, beautiful imperfection.
If you want to participate in the new theme, chose something beautiful that has obvious flaws, and tag it with #ImperfectEllipse
Just because....it's a way to overcome the impossibility to share ellipses... Don't ask me why....it's a mathematically complicated equation... :-)
I think +Sharon Jeannette... more »

The Afghan Girl
Most of us know about the picture at the left , with the most beautiful eyes ever captured on camera, That picture was taken in 1984 and after some struggle the National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry found the girl in 2002 April.
The picture at the right shows how she look in 2002 .

Amazing Sculptures Made Out of a Single Paper Sheet
Peter Callesen (born 1967) is a Danish artist who makes incredibly complex and beautiful sculptures out of a single sheet of paper. He has an exceptional talent in combining the minimalism of a big crisp white sheet of paper with the complexity of meticulously cut and folded paper and uses the two to build out some really beautiful compositions.
“A large part of my work is made from A4 sheets of paper. It is probably the most common and consumed media used for carrying information today. This is why we rarely notice the actual materiality of the A4 paper” says Peter.
