I'm blown away by the new photo search in Google+ where it's recognizing subjects in my own photos -- here the various times I've run into snakes while hiking.
It's unbelievable how the state of the art in computer vision has progressed recently. And I can't imagine the amount of number crunching that must have gone into all this picture processing!

Hangouts, phone calls and Google Voice
Thanks for all of your feedback on last week's Hangouts launch. I wanted to quickly talk about 1) making/receiving phone calls in Gmail, and 2) Google Voice support more generally.
1) Today's version of Hangouts doesn't yet support outbound calls on the web and in the Chrome extension, but we do support inbound calls to your Google Voice number. We're working hard on supporting both, and outbound/inbound calls will soon be available. In the meantime, you can continue using Google Talk in Gmail.
2) Hangouts is designed to be the future of Google Voice, and making/receiving phone calls is just the beginning. Future versions of Hangouts will integrate Google Voice more seamlessly.

What I'm really interested in:
API level 18 also adds support for AVRCP 1.3 (Audio / Video Remote Control Profile) which essentially enables compatibility with things like a car head unit, AV receiver, or so forth. This enables the device to control commands like play or pause, as well as metadata such as album artwork, artist, name, and status of the music. This enables much better compatibility with car audio and so on. Interestingly on the last slide from this session the date for API level 18 is given as coming in "a few short months."

Who are your 50 Most Relevant People in Google+?
The awsome people in this photo are the 50 most relevant people in my circles. In order to create such a photo and appreciate your awsome special ones, do this:
Step 1:
Head over to www.circloscope.com and install the latest version of circloscope premium (v2013.5.18) on your chrome browser.
Step 2:
Open circloscope by clicking on the icon on your chrome toolbar. And go to "Action > Visualize > 50 Most Relevant".
Step 3:
Take a screenshot of your 50 most relevant people and edit the photo as you like :-)
Step 4 (optional):
You can notify them as well using circloscope by:
1- Filter > Sort By > Relevance (Z-a)
2- Select the first 50 thumbnails by mouse dragging
3- Action > Export Selected > to TXT
4- Open... more »
