"You can check to see if the update is ready for your device by opening Settings > Help. Don’t see it? Hit the refresh key 8-10 times and you should get it."
Oh man, that's rich. Almost as good as taking an uncooperative NES cartridge out of the console and blowing on it.

I never once watched an episode of The Sopranos, but Gandolfini was masterful for perfectly playing a jerk in different contexts - see his supporting work in 8MM, Crimson Tide, and The Last Castle. Not everyone can pull off that tall order.
RIP, paisan.

Pretty gnarly how I got the new Google+ notification center on my Google Apps account, but still waiting for it on my public Google profile. :)

Share your development environment for building Glassware
I previously mentioned that our community needs to share more coding tutorials for how we all write Glassware projects (http://goo.gl/ubUvu), and I'm excited to see what you have, as well as share my own experiences. Building on this, I'd like to also see what developmental environments you all use to program with the Mirror API.
What do you use as far as IDEs, debuggers and such? I don't actually have Glass at the moment and I'm on Windows, but I've been getting by with +Notepad++ as an editor, the Mirror API Playground (https://developers.google.com/glass/playground) to visualize cards, and Chrome's DevTools (https://developers.google.com/chrome-developer-tools/) to capture HTTP traffic and do log tracing. My hosting is with App Engine for Python or projects. I even use +ShiftEdit as a cloud-based IDE... more »

You know what we need in this community? More code tutorials - from YOU.
I really enjoyed this blog post by +Danny Roa in which he describes a cool service he built. I'm anxiously awaiting the second part, where he promises not only to share his code, but also how he built it. I've always like reading the work of peers dissecting the syntax behind their creations, but also the thought process and horror stories that accompany the experience of building.
We've got the sample code from the Quick Start projects from Google (https://developers.google.com/glass/quickstart/index), but let's start sharing code and stories, even if it's not a full-blown Glassware project, maybe just about programming a feature.
Share the love. I'm excited to see what you have. :)

Ray Allen's NBA career has outlived that of Allan Ray. And the former is a decade older than the latter.

How great has Tim Duncan been? If the Spurs keep this up he'll have as many rings as Kobe, Magic and Kareem, one fewer than Michael, and one more than Shaq. All-time legend.

DevTools port forwarding allows localhost URLs to work on mobile
+Umar Hansa shares his new workflow:
1. Chrome to Phone my localhost URL from desktop
2. Remote Debug the mobile localhost page and enable port forwarding
3. Refresh and observe that no command line was needed!
Keep in mind that Port Forwarding is an experimental feature.

As programmers, we all have our little productivity quirks - those unique idiomatic behavior patterns that make us work more efficiently. Some people smoke a cigar before coding, others play classical music, others dine like royalty, some go for a jog, many others post incessantly to social applications about cats, bacon and zombies.
Me? I have whisper-level conversations with my syntax. I talk to my code and learn what it's thinking, what it's doing and where it's going. It's a running dialogue that helps me through my projects. I look schizophrenic doing it, but it works for me.
What's your thing?

Chromium Team has recently started to work on a Chrome Packaged App version of the Chrome Remote Desktop Web-App aka Chromoting in the Chromium world.
You can play with it right now by downloading an experimental build of it at https://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/chromium-browser-snapshots/Linux_x64/206911/remoting-webapp.v2.zip and load it as an unpacked extension in chrome://extensions. Be aware though that it's not stable and can break at any time ;)

Would iridescent shades negate the prism display?
One thing that I'm hoping for the emerging Glass peripherals/accessories space is custom sunglass shade attachments. Specifically, I'd like to see something like the classic +Oakley Blades with the iridescent finish - the type that the +Miami Hurricanes football team typically uses within their facemasks. I live on an island, so extra shade works for us (and they look RAD).
However, I'm wondering if the additional reflection produced by such a shade would bounce back onto the prism display from Glass, and make anything content produced unreadable. Rocking out with high-fashion with Glass is one thing, but not if it's at the expense of destroying usability of the device itself.
Has anyone messed around with something like this and had any sort of feedback about how they gel with Glass - maybe even with d... more »

New Sesame Street Muppet Has A Father In Jail
Grab your hankies: To help kids coping with a parent in prison, Sesame Street created a Muppet whose father can't play with him because he's in jail.
Sesame Street has always made it part of its larger mission to address all children, not just the ones with traditional families or easily digestible experiences. In the latest move toward that goal, the popular children's program created an online toolkit, titled "Little Children, Big Challenges: Incarceration," for those struggling to raise a child who has an incarcerated parent. Released just in time to help kids in need get through Father's Day, the toolkit has its detractors. Alex Jones naturally went into full-blown conspiracy theory mode, calling it a "propaganda program designed to help children accept the fact that daddy is in jail" by... more »

Movies I love that I wish were streaming on Netflix:
- The Last Castle
- A Beautiful Mind
- Renaissance Man
- The Dark Crystal
- Singles
- Into the Blue
- The Cutting Edge
- A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
- The Guardian
Amazon Prime and Google Play don't work in my region. Harrumph.

You've heard of Harvey Two-Face? Meet Jason Half-Beard.
I could regale you with a bogus story about how this manscaping goof is a political statement or some outside-the-box fashion tactic or desperate attempt to woo sponsorship money from Gillette, or just shtick, but the reality is I was bored at home on a Monday night and this is how I passed the time.
The upside is that I guess I've got both bases covered if I ever need to put together a modeling portfolio.

The +Hulu Plus description for this movie reads: "Kenneth Branagh adapts Mozart's enchanting opera". I don't know if I'll be able to handle another one of his adaptations. Remember, this is the same guy that decided to buck 400 years of theatrical tradition and put Ophelia in the room as Hamlet was doing his soliloquy.

I wrote a (private) Glassware that pushes snapshots from my security cameras & baby monitor at my home (monitored via a +Synology NAS) when they detect motion to my Glass.
I'm not at all surprised by how much I love it.
I am surprised at how quick it was to throw it together (~4 hours, and that was me learning to use GCE from scratch, learning to use & deploy to AppEngine from scratch, and attempting to re-learn Python after a few years' hiatus).
Nice work +Alain Vongsouvanh, +Jenny Murphy, +Timothy Jordan, +Ossama Alami, and +Keith Ito.

The nuttiest thing about last night's bench-clearing brawl was that three of the coaches who were throwing insults (and haymakers) - Don Mattingly, Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammell - were on my wall as posters 27 years ago when they were playing. Wow.

Even if you're not a programmer, the new 'Branding' section in the Mirror API documentation is worth reading. It outlines the proper grammar to use and how to properly cite the platform in marketing material or press coverage. Much appreciated information.

I get that schools want to lock up top prospects asap, but I'm a big proponent of keeping one's options open. If he's that good, kid didn't need to jump at the first school that offered him.
