This image shows natural hunting of Snowy Owl in Finnish Lapland. There seems to be still plenty of voles in the area where this young female Snowy Owl is wintering. We followed this bird 6 hours and the bird catched 5 voles!

This is for all bird photographers! We now have several (up to 10) Great Grey Owls and a Snowy Owl photographable in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland! Birds are hunting on the fields, finding natural food. Here one of "my" Golden Eagles is feeding on dead Arctic Hare, which is their normal food throughout the year. However, this hare I picked up as roadkill couple
of days earlier. What is wrong with this? I was on the feeding site hidden in my hide (blind) - so I wasn´t disturbing the feeding eagle. Actually I strongly believe I did favour for the eagle!

Dippers are very photographable in Kuusamo, Finland. One can try different camera settings and compositions in the image of these birds on the shore of fast flowing river.

All the grouse species go to roost under the snow in winter and when it is really cold (under -30 Centigrade) they will go to warm up under the snow even in middle of the short winter days - like this male Capercaillie did.

This Golden Eagle I photographed today from the hide (blind) close to Oulanka National Park in Finland. There is adult pair of Golden Eagles visiting this site daily - so there are really good opportunities to take images of this elusive eagle species.

Golden Eagles have been actively visiting our baiting sites giving great opportunities for visiting photographers. This uncropped image I took few days ago with Nikon D3s + Nikkor 400 mm (f/2.8) lens, so this beautiful eagle flew at eyelevel and very close to my heated hide (blind). Please don´t hesitate to contact if you would like to take images like this!

Magpie is a common bird - but normally quite shy and difficult to photograph (at least in Finland). I have a feeding site in my garden where Magpies are quite photographable!

There is still four months time before the geese will be feeding on the fields in my home area in Finland. Every spring I set up some hides at the suitable place to photograph them. These are Taiga Bean Geese.
