Check-out

A high water ( Aqua Alta ) today in Venice. Venice was submerged in water that reached 148 cm (58''), the highest level since 2008. Simple things became really difficult but people remained cheerful and many consider this flood as another attraction in a great city.

Our hotel was underwater too, but we were prepared and bought the plastic shoes yesterday, so we did not need to walk bare-feet in cold water.

Sufnersee

I made the trip through the famous San Bernardino's pass in Switzerland several times during the spring and also in the summer but only now it was for the first time that I saw the mountains surrounding this marvelous area. Earlier there was a thick blanket of fog sitting on the top.

This picture was taken from the little village Sufers overseeing a lake Sufner.

Flowers of Dorf

I was driving again through Switzerland and in August everything looks very different there. Snow has almost melted and can be seen only on the highest mountains.

 I stopped by a small village of Dorf that is near San Bernardino's famous pass because I wanted to picture the light that is overflowing those distant mountains but was distracted by the colorful and fragrant fireweed. So, now to see the mountains bathing in the light you would need to do what I did not - zoom in.

Wind farm in Puck, Poland

While driving to the Baltic sea ten days ago I spotted the place where the wind farm was surrounded by a golden barley field. I decided to get back and shoot the farm in a few days. Today, to my great disappointment I found that they have harvested all the crop. So I had to look for a new spot and just in 2 km I found this scene.

Hill Versus Mountain

I took this image near San Bernardino in Switzerland when I was driving from Milan to Warsaw. The road through the Italian and Swiss Alps is marvelous and I felt sorry it was a highway with just a few possibilities to stop.

Władysławowo, Poland

Tonight I witnessed a wonderful sunset at the Baltic sea in Władysławowo, Poland. There was a very narrow cleft in between the clouds and the horizon. But the sun shone straight through this gap, illuminating everything with a strange, slightly purple light.

A jellyfish?

No, it is not. This is a migrating brain cell (astrocyte) infected with viruses carrying the green and red fluorescent proteins. The mixture of the two colors results in mostly yellow glow.
