Prayer, Positive Thoughts, Healing Karma Request
It's rare that I ask for anything, but there's some stuff going on IRL and my family needs all the prayers, positive thoughts, healing karma, good vibes, etc. that you can spare. I'm probably not going to be online or mobile much for at least a week, possibly more, but any time you can, please pray for my family.

I'd prefer not to discuss the details and appreciate your understanding on that.

December Sky
Yesterday, a combination of posts inspired me to delve deeper into myself and my imagery. I've been in a bit of a rut lately...in life, spirit, and creative pursuits...so the posts by +Lynne Goodwin and +Sandra Parlow, though seemingly unrelated, both served as a much needed kick-in-the-hindquarters to stop, take stock, reevaluate the way I perceive things, and to create.

After Which the Sun Set and Darkness Returned
While driving home tonight, it occurred to me that I couldn't recall the last time I had seen the sun set. There are many reasons I love winter, but the absence of light in the evenings is not one of those things.

What do you like / dislike about winter?

This was from the day after Thanksgiving ... the last sunset I saw. Must correct that, stat.

Come a Little Closer, Baby
This was my entry for the "Mother Nature, What Were You Thinking?!?!" category of the September/Anniversary +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt.  This guy was extremely infatuated with (or wanted to fight) his reflection in my lens.  Never previously knew just. how. fast. iguanas can be, when determined.  Plus, his Joker-type smile was kinda creepy.

Exhausted
This was my entry for the "Exhausted" category in the Anniversary +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt.  The night before the deadline, while battling insomnia, I scrapped all of my planned images and went back through my recent archives and pulled images that would kinda sorta? fit the categories.  Lessons learned:  
1) Decisions should not be made while averaging one hour of sleep per night.
2) Procrastinating about submitting the album leads to poor decisions (see #1).
3) What appears to be in focus at 2:00 AM may not actually be in focus.
Still, I love this image because it reminds me of the ginormous smile the little man gave me immediately after this capture.

As the Sun Rose
As some of you know, I'm not at all a morning person.  So it took quite a bit of internal cajoling for me to accept +Matt Austin's invitation to meet for a mini photowalk on Saturday before dawn at Great Falls Park in McLean, Virginia.  I hoped, once I got there (and got some coffee in my system), that the beauty of the park would kick me out of my it's-too-early-to-even-pretend-to-be-human grumpiness.

It was totally worth it.

The weekend before last, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the New Bern Photowalk, hosted by +Lynne Goodwin and +Steve Hale.  It was well-organized and incredibly fun.  As in, my-face-hurts-from-smiling, my-stomach-hurts-from-laughing, please-stop-I-can't-breathe fun.  If you ever have an opportunity to attend a photowalk, go. They just keep getting better and better.
