POSSIBLY IMPORTANT: Last week I initiated the Google+ migration process which means that some time tomorrow all of my followers will be migrated from my kevbot@gmail.com account (which I don't use for anything anymore) to my kevin@fury account.

From what I understand, all the content I've created on Google+ will be left behind on the kevbot account, but that's not a huge problem, since most of my stuff here is temporally relevant anyhow.

Anyhow, you shouldn't need to do anything, and I look forward to seeing you in my new account tomorrow.

Just a tad nervous.

Microsoft claims the Surface tablet uses ClearType pixel geometry to "create an effect where the eye can't distinguish individual pixels at the right viewing distance." The implication is that a Surface display is like a retina display, but the truth is that ClearType displays have a pixel geometry that helps smooth text by blending the boundaries between pixels.

In short, it's technically true to say that the eye can't distinguish individual pixels at an appropriate distance, but the same could be said of a screen with a piece of wax paper on it. It really has nothing to do with pixel resolution.

'Bunheads' is great. We're only 2 episodes in and I really like it. If you watch it, you have to watch it in order, which is a shame, since Hulu has Episode 2 available for free streaming for the next 5 days, but not episode 1. Episode 1 you'll have to find another way.

It's like networks don't want to help people discover their shows...

Went to a memorial service today. Came home with a coffin. It's a bit of a long story.

This just burns me up. Last week five teenagers, most of them to graduate later that afternoon, were riding in a car in rural Ohio when they went over a railroad crossing at high speed. The car jumped and flipped, killing four of the five teenagers.

There's a lot of speculation that the teens intentionally took the crossing at high speed in order to jump it, and four of the five teens (including the driver) weren't wearing seatbelts. Speculation is that this may have been to increase the joy of floating while airborne.

As much as this tragedy would normally make me both sad and angry, one of the teenagers was Kevin Fox (no relation) so I have a much higher awareness of the incident, its aftermath, and it hits closer to home because our brains like to find correlations whether they're meaningful or not.

Yesterday I brought binoculars to Maker Faire to project the eclipse onto the ground for people to see. While I was trying to align them at the sun a guy tried to 'help' by putting his eye to the eyepiece. Five of us all yelled "Nooooo!" and I pulled the binoculars away.

The guy got all huffy saying he knew what he was doing and he was an adult.

Sheesh.
