I'm a firm BELIEVER that it only takes a small group of people to make a big difference. If more people would commit to a small contribution, there is no telling what kind of changes we could make in the world. For this reason, I have recently partnered with a friend to open up Tumaini Safe House in northern Uganda, which is a safe house for girls in need. Tumaini means HOPE in Swahili and this home will protect, house, teach, and prepare these girls for a prosperous and happy adult life.

These young girls have been kidnapped, orphaned, enslaved and forced into prostitution, as early as 7 years old. They are now safe and protected from the horrors that they were forced into. We have helped almost 100 girls, so far, and we are hoping to create a safe space for them to blossom, even further.

Alright, tribe, I have a question: When on a plane, or any other public transportation, what are your thoughts about talking to other passengers? Would you insist if they were sleeping? How about reading a book? I'm cool if it's mutual, but isn't it common courtesy to let someone be if they're giving clear signals that they're not into it?

Hey everyone, I've got some really exciting news!!!

I have a friend who lives in Northern Uganda and she houses, educates and, even, exiles former child soldiers from the LRA who have been kidnapped and forced into positions to mutilate, murder, rape, and prostitute in the name of Joseph Kony's army. #KONY2012.

Well, (here's the exciting part) she's agreed to be interviewed on +Hangin' with Jennifer tomorrow, Saturday, March 16th! I know that many of you have wondered if the KONY2012 is hype or a real threat. Hi everyone, I wanted to share a couple thoughts from my friend, Maureen Greatness, in Africa. I'm hoping to get her onto a +Hangin' with Jennifer episode very soon so that you get to hear her story, first hand. I'm also hoping that we can do an after show hangout so that you can all talk to Maureen and get her thoughts, ideas and opinions about what's really happening.

My Birthday Wish


Today is my birthday, not a milestone birthday, but a birthday nonetheless. Normally I would buy myself a new spring outfit, or a couple of crystals, or a few books. But this year, I realized that I don’t really need another spring outfit or crystals or books. I would like them for sure, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t need them.

I am very blessed and grateful for the life that I have. I am blessed with two healthy children that I love more than anything and am fortunate that they love me as well. I am blessed to have family and friends who I love and am very close to and can count on for anything. I am blessed to have someone special in my life who loves me and who I love in return. I am healthy, I have a good job, I own my home, I have two cars, I always have food in the fridge and cupboards. I am not lacking for anything materially or otherwise.
