Okay, +Google. I know your Hangouts team just updated this today, but umm... do you NOT see a problem here? My secondary screen to the right is a 15.6" laptop at 1366x768 resolution. Hangouts, even with the transparent UI, now takes up a non-resizable 1/3 of my screen.

I can literally hold my Moto X cellphone up to the screen, both vertically and horizontally, and Hangouts is now twice the size of my phone. I can't resize it. I normally have other windows that are stacked open across near every bit of my screen so that I can always see Hangouts when someone sends me a message. I know I'm not the only one, either.

Not to mention, I thought this was kinda made with laptop users in mind in the first place. Seems a bit odd, knowing that most users screens are going to be 15.6" to 17", to make your app where it looks unnecessarily large even on the 22" 1920x1080... more »

Monday Morning Confusions Provided By Lexi
Hey, look! I have a new avatar!

It would figure, after spending quite some time figuring out how to get this coloured to a certain point, that Ps would decide to say NOPE and switch layers on me (thanks for that, y'jerk), thus resulting in some shading errors that I also accidently saved over. So... yeah. I'm going to end up recoloring it all over again, because I didn't catch this until after it was flattened and had long since lost the layer jumps from the history, so there was no going back. But hey, at least I have something for the meantime...

morning
Slightly belated coffee time is belated due to pain, dizziness, and checking on messages. Most of which have included the fact that marriage is now legal for everyone here in the States regardless of their sexual orientation. It's about fucking time, yo.

There's plenty of other stuff that I could go on to say about everything, but in the end, it boils down to I'm in need of coffee. Talk stuff can come later.

A couple new projects are going to get started soon, once I finish getting the last of the installs taken care of. I still need to install brushes and presets and things into Adobe stuff.

But for now, coffee... and maybe foods... if I can stop being dizzy long enough to safely walk to go see what there is for noms.

The PC Longs for Its Parts
It sits there, waiting for the rest of its pieces to come together so that I can have it assembled and get the installation of its operating system installed so it can be functional.

Right now, it is helpless. It feels useless, sitting there, gathering dust. It wants to be able to be useful, to bring delight to both its user and those who get to enjoy the products of the user's work and creativity.

For now, it waits. It waits for people to donate funds for bringing the rest of its parts home, so that it may at last be complete...

It even suggests if you're hesitant to donate, to consider maybe contacting its user regarding a creative project. She's got commission slots open right now. You can find more info on how to reach her at www.lexigable.com

Or maybe you'd be interested in buying something with one of her designs on it instead. In that case, you should check out the redbubble shop at redbubble.com/people/keeperlefae/shop

Maybe you can't do any of these things. Maybe you don't have the money yourself, but you'd still like to help. The PC understands. It's been there. In fact, it's there right now. That's why it's unfinished... waiting... and spreading the word when it can, trying to draw attention to its plight, in hopes that someone will be able to help, and it will at long last not the a potential of a computer, but a working computer instead.___

What gives? There's no real new feature to this update save for the ability to launch as a non-transparent all-in-one window thing that has some really crappy coding behind it, by the way, because I can see where you tried to make it somewhat responsive, but failed.

This isn't elegant. This isn't functional. I don't blame anyone who is on a single monitor setup to not use the desktop app. Heck, I'm on a dual monitor setup, and I'm quickly finding I don't want to use it either, and I've been a daily user of it up until today.

Please get your code together, Google. This is just sloppy work and should never have been made public.___

Today in WHERE THE HELL IS LEXI?!
I decided to see if I could stretch what limping power my laptop still has in it while still being forced to maintain Windows OS on it by performing a factory reset.

Thus, I got to enjoy the SIX BLOODY FUCKING HOURS it took to do Windows Updates... in segments... of ten to fifteen at a time... and a couple one at a time at the end... because I was having to run all of the Windows 8 updates, as this laptop was pre-installed with Win8, and was later updated to Win8.1 with the free update.

So after all of that, I got to do the whole Windows 8.1 install, and then its bloody updates (that was thankfully much shorter), install Chrome and other necessary programs basic usage, and am taking more time in getting the rest installed, because really, I still haven't had any sleep (I started this project at 6am after I couldn't get any sleep... more »

Ooh, and did I mention my antivirus was a bitch and gave me hell trying to get it logged in to acknowledge I have a license for it, which meant having to install, uninstall, reinstall, find out that install corrupted itself, uninstall again, reinstall yet again, and finally managed to get it to work. Yeah, that was fun... (not)

I've got the Creative Cloud desktop installed and signed in, however, I haven't started installing any of the CC apps yet, simply because that is a major bandwidth hog and is better left to overnight download after everyone's got offline. Then there's the reinstalling my fonts, and the software for my Wacom tablet, and all that other fun stuff to be able to actually see if all of this effort will actually have been worth it.

Though now I also have to go through and redo all of my tweaking and adjustments on Windows settings themselves, clean up the registry and startup apps, and all that other stuff. I've at least got rid of most if not all of the metro apps, because yeah, no. I avoid those at all cost unless it's something to do with the Windows settings themselves. I seriously love Classic Shell... I don't have to deal with the Start Tiles. Bleh.___

For Those Not Used To Tornado Watches & Warnings
Don't panic. And seriously, carry a towel. As well as some blankets and pillows. They'll make things more comfortable for you, as well as help offer some protection in the event of falling debris.

Be sure to have your basic disaster supplies kit ready. Not sure what that entails? Find a useful list of the priority things here: http://www.ready.gov/kit

Don't forget about your medications! Pack them in a purse and/or backpack, and keep them with you at all times. In case disaster does strike, this will help make sure you have them after the fact.

Here's some useful info to read over, especially if this is the first time experiencing this kind of severe weather:

I've survived more tornadoes than I care to even think about. I've even seen two with my own eyes that were less than a mile away from me while I was running for shelter. Trust me, these things are dangerous, and you need to take them seriously. Stay safe.

(Posted for the benefit of those in New England who are currently under Tornado Watches. I've had a lifetime of going through this, so I'm quite used to these situations. But I know many others aren't, so I'm trying to provide what I can to keep everyone calm and safe.)___

When the new pc gets built and I can (finally) start working on 3D game assets, these are going to be some of the inspiration for some of the NPC mannequins for a horror game I have flitting about in my mind.
