Justin Hill22,577338 Photographers :- Due to a post I saw float past in my stream today I am suddenly aware of the fact that I have not shared any of my circles for a very long time. So to rectify that here's my circle of photographers. If you are missing from this circle you are most probably in my other photography circle that is HDR based...if you are also missing from that one then I am sorry as I simply cannot add everyone that crosses my path or stream. Enjoy...2013-10-11 14:09:1333813411CC G+

Charles Lupica66,461             Top 1000 most followed active        photographers sharing content on G+                  Circle One: A to JThis  is the first of two circles,  I'll share the second circle this weekend so that they're not so on top of each other.  The circles have been divided alphabetically to help give more exposure to people with fewer followers. Please plus, comment and share.  This circle has no requirements for future participation but your support and encouragement is appreciated. It has been two weeks since I announced my intent to update my circle of the 500 most followed photographers on G+.  I decided to do things a bit differently this time and so I'll share the top 1000.   To build the circles and the list I enlisted the aid of +Bill Wood +Gemma Costa +Jen Baptist +Kat Scan and +Margaret Tompkins.  They built circles and vetted profiles.  My starting point for this was a list of 2000 names generously provided to me by +CircleCount.  Thank you all for all of your help.I have chosen the name of the circle carefully to try to accurately represent the contents of what will be in the two circles. The script / finding namesThe script is provided by CircleCount and looks through the tagline of every profile on CircleCount to find the word "photo" or "foto".  If a photographer doesn't have a CircleCount profile they won't be found.  If one of these two words isn't in their tagline, they won't be found.  A few people I know have fallen into this flaw in my thinking.  To fix this, CircleCount has asked me to provide a "whitelist" of names that the script misses.  The white-list list adds another 30 or so names to the result. How was the list processedThe list was sorted by the level of activity.  People that hadn't posted in the last month (approximately April 5 to May 5th) were removed from the list.  This included people that hadn't posted or people that had posted only once in the past 4 weeks.  Again, this has some flaws but I'm mostly happy with the results.  People who are posting only in private communities or people that interact a lot with other people but don't post their own work will get filtered out along with the people that aren't really active.  ValidationThese two circles were very heavily vetted.  Of the original 2000 names, nearly 35% do not appear in either circle.  This is a result of the filtering I mentioned above and vetting of ever single profile in the list until we had enough names to make a list of 1000 names.  The list was divided into 6 parts with Bill Wood, Gemma Costa, Jen Baptist, Kat Scan, Margaret Tompkins and me each taking a group of names.  I tried to assign the list so that the pe2013-05-16 16:41:2850113082147CC G+

There are quite a few who don't follow me but whose work I've discovered.Note: No one asked, begged, or had to do anything to be in these circles except be an active G+ photographer who I happen to follow. That being said, why share circles you are included in?It will help you be seen by different folks. It is amazing when I see how few people I follow in common with even my closest friends and I follow around 2500 people. There are so many good photographers on G+ that it is impossible to find them all.  Shares help make those introductions."D"elighted to know you+Gene Bowker http://rustedrailimages.comWould you like to be in the next circle set?1) Be sure to circle me.2) Be active. Post regularly...3) Be interactive. Respond to comments, etc...4) Be yourself. Post your own stuff, not just reshares.5) Be sure to introduce yourself. Stop by one of my posts and say hi.6) Feel free to share the current circles. (not required but really appreciated)In the end, I make the final calls on who gets in or not based on my own judgement. That is why I'm happy to put my name on them.2012-09-25 22:39:58167682153CC G+

Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about2012-07-21 12:44:303641216CC G+

Jan Kabili28,372Sharing circles is a plus for everyone. Nearly every time one of my G+ friends has been kind enough to include my name in a published circle, my follower count has gone up. And making a published circle your own is of course a great way to enjoy new G+ friends. In that spirit, here is my circle of Photoshop and Lightroom enthusiasts. Some are folks I found on G+; others asked to be added. It's all good.2012-06-18 14:32:062669316CC G+
Erika Thornes20,533+Wendy Stever This is the circle I started for people new to Google+ to make their stream "hoppin'" If you aren't on this list and feel you should be, tell me! It was just meant for a newvbie to feel welcome, and see where some of the action is. It was make a few months ago, so some people, #cough +Eric Fredine I don't see so often anymore. But, for the most part, I think it is a good rough start for a photographer to follow. 2012-06-12 04:06:51945808CC G+

Peter From35,781The Photoshoppers & Lightroomers Circle –– Validated & Revised Version #CircleSharingForThePeoplePLC2 The time has come to reshare my validated and revised Photoshoppers & Lightroomers Circle (PLC) with 500 excellent artists that produce great imagery, compositions, tips etc. You don't want to miss this one. I am proud to promote these great people and I am sure they will bring lots and lots of great and interesting stuff to your feeds. If YOU want to hop on the next PLC train, do the following:1. Help spread the word and reshare this circle post. Why? If you think you should be promoted, you should be willing to do the same for your fellow artists. Simple as that.2. Ask for inclusion in the comments. I will check every feed.3. Make sure that you share your own original artwork in your feed. If there are too many reshares of other peoples' work, irrelevant YouTube clips, animated GIFS, blog post teasers etc., I might not add you to the circle. The PLC is a validated quality circle that should bring people great imagery to their feeds.NOTE! If you see that I have plussed your comment, then you know that I have added you to the next revision of the PLC. I didn't PLUS your comment? Make sure that you have reshared this circle post and let me know that you did so.HOW TO AVOID FLOODING OF THIS POST IN YOUR FEED:This post is hash-tagged with #CircleSharingForThePeoplePLC2 so that you may mute the reshares this post will generate. That way you will avoid seeing multiple copies of this post in your feed and your adrenaline level will stay normal. I will add a new hash-tag for every announcement and circle post. That way you won't miss out on any of the action but still can mute all the duplicate reshares. Here is an excellent add-on that will help you to mute the reshares: http://code.google.com/p/nonplus/Cheers!2012-05-21 09:36:07500104117126CC G+

Robert Scoble1,236,665500 Hand Picked Photographers. Unfortunately only 500 people can be shared (I have 617 in this circle). I also am near my maximum of 5,000 circled (Google keeps me from circling more) so it's tough to add more, but I'm always looking to see more great photography, so if you aren't in this circle, leave your URL below so we can all check you out.By the way, I need to go through all my circles and look for inactive people again. It's been a while since I did that. If I were you I'd throw these 500 into a temporary circle, watch it for a while and move the ones you like into a circle of your own.Thank you to those of you who bring beauty into our lives. Everytime I need some inspiration I look to this circle.2012-04-22 18:03:4850014653148CC G+

If you want your name removed, just send me a pm and I will take care of that asap. The criteria for addition to this circle are: an active feed with great original photography.I will reshare the updated APC in the beginning of next week so be patient... :)2012-04-20 11:08:29338918CC G+
Warren Brooks0A Photoshop/Lightroom circle for anybody interested in getting their social skills on. There should be plenty of inspiration in here.If YOU want to be included in the next reshare of this circle, just do the following: 1) Leave a comment below, 2) reshare this post to spread the word and thus help promote the great people in this circle. And... As always: no reshare, no inclusion –– NO exceptions... Of course, I want to find some quality original content in your feed as well if you want in. If you do not wish to be in the circle, let me know and I will remove you asap.If you already are included in this circle you don't have to reshare this post if you do not wish to do so. I won't throw you out... :) But if you want to reshare anyway, it's much appreciated.Due to some controversy regarding my way of circle sharing, I want to clarify why I want you to reshare this post. To me Google+ is all about sharing and resharing, i.e. promoting yourself and others and NOT feeling bad about it. The more we spread the circle posts, the more people will be able to see YOUR work as well as the work of the other circle members. If you don't like that, fine, I respect that, but that's the way it works in my feed. If it disturbs you, feel free to uncircle me and/or block me, I will respect that too. With that said, enjoy this circle and feel free to ask for an inclusion. Alik Griffin5,462PhotographersSo I think I've finally got a pretty solid circle of photographers ready to share. I've been refining this for the last month, adding photographers who have a good eye and aesthetic that I think are good. I like photography that takes you places and allows you to see people and things from all parts of the world from perspectives you've never seen before. I think many of the photographers in this circle do that very well. These are all very active G+ users and should provide your stream with some really nice content. If you are new to G+ you can start growing your network and enhancing your stream with with some of googles greatest. Please share.#photography #photographers #sharedcircles #artists2012-04-13 00:13:54485383034CC G+

Once when it got to 500 and then again when it got to 1,000. Today my circle hit 1,500 so I'm sharing them again.I have to break them up into 500 person circles because this is the limit on Google+. Also Google limits the number of people you can add to circles per day so I'm going to publish my kick ass photographers circle over 3 days. Today I'm publishing A-G. Tomorrow I'll publish G-O. Friday I'll publish P-Z. By last name.In addition to the kick ass photographers in these circles I've also added three other accounts. Our new photography hangout show which will be on live tonight at 8PM PST +Photo Talk Plus as well as our show's sponsors +Drobo and +SmugMug as a way of saying thanks to them.A few notes about these circles. not to be long-winded, but…Every time I've shared my circles I've gotten haters from it. People who are upset that they are not in them. I absolutely detest that. It makes me not even want to share them because of that. These circles are not meant to be the definitive list of what photographers you should be following on Google+. These circles are simply who I have chosen to follow for photography on Google+ for my own personal consumption. I want to share them because I think YOU may also benefit from having these rich, talented, kick ass photographers in your streams. This is the circle that I browse every single day looking for great stuff to +1 and comment on Google+ and as such it reflects my own personal biases. For example. I hate looking at watermarks. This is a personal preference thing. If you use them, more power to you. It's absolutely your right. But as a consumer of photography I find them ugly and distracting and so I tend not to follow people who use them. This is not a big deal. This is not a personal attack against you if you watermark. This isn't even a universal rule of mine. I do have a few friends who use them that I still follow. But by and large, what you get with my circles is a watermark/signature free circle. I also prefer people who are active on Google+ both in terms of posting and in terms of contributing to the community. If the last photo you posted was in November, I probably won't have you in this list.If you were in my photographers circle before but removed, it could be for a lot of these sorts of reasons. Watermarks/sigs, not posting enough, posting too much non photography stuff that I'm not interested in, or all kinds of other things. Who knows. But it's most definitely not personal. (Unless I'm blocking you and then maybe it is personal). Also if you are not in these circles it may simply be because we don't know each other yet. In time perhaps we will become great friends (hopefully). Or you may not be in these circles just 2012-01-18 23:20:26500193111261CC G+

Why work non-destructively in #Photoshop? In this excerpt from my new DVD from +photoshopCAFE I cover the main reasons that this workflow makes sense - and it's not just about changing your mind.

The folks at creativeLIVE have posted on youtube a series of excerpts from many of the classes during Photoshop Week. I couldn't figure out a way to link to all of them, so here's a link to an excerpt from one of my classes and then a bunch more appear on the side.

You can grab my new Photoshop training - for free.

I specifically designed it to supplement one of the coolest #Photoshop courses I've seen:

The Photoshop Artistry course is all about creating intricate layered artwork (stuff fit for fine art print and canvas).  And I liked it so much, I built an advanced Photoshop expansion course just to take it even further.

So here's the scoop:

This week only, if you sign up for the Photoshop Artistry course, you get lifetime access to my new "Non-Destructive Photoshop Techniques for Photo Artists" completely FREE.

If you're interested in creating amazing photo art, want to challenge yourself creatively, and would like opportunities to get your work shown in gallery exhibits — then this course is definitely worth checking out.

The power of a reflector: in this shoot I tried a lighting setup with a huge  softbox behind the model, angled up, and a 2nd light with a beauty dish pointing down at the model. On the left is the initial shot - okay but I didn't like the shadow under her chin. I had her hold a gold reflector, both to bounce some light under her chin and hopefully to add a warmer tone.
That's the only difference between the two photos: the reflector. Since I was hoping for a golden sunlight kinda look, I love the result of adding the reflector!

Tried something a little different today. Thanks to makeup artist +Monique McLaughlin for the hair, makeup and styling and to model Emily Wehunt. I took some shots with #Photoshop  tutorials in mind, and others like this one I just wanted a cool shoot with little to no Photoshop (an adjustment layer and mask). #fineartphotography
