No news is good news...

One of my Friday rituals is to not listen to news radio on the way to work. Monday-Thursday I get my news fix during my morning drive. By the time Friday rolls around, it's time to lift the mood a little. Today's musical highlights on the morning drive included Morphine's "Honey White" and Cage the Elephant's "Against the Wall". It was a great way to get pumped up for FRIIIIDAAAYYYY!!!!

Photographers, if you had to pick one, which one? And why? I realize that each product does different things. But I am curious which one you would choose first, and why.

FWIW, I am currently working only in Lightroom 4.3 with occasional work in GIMP 2.8.

Yay, it's Tuesday and that means its +TransportTuesday  #transporttuesday , with curators +Gene Bowker +Michael Earley and +Annie Irving (<me). Buses, planes, trains, cars, helicopters, boats ... you name it, we want to see it today.
 
Here in Cambodia, tuktuks are a favourite form of transport and many are decorated in bright colours or with well-known themes ... yes, like batman! (Love the CD wheel decoration on this one, too!)

crouching tiger, splashing niece

i spent the afternoon friday doing family portraits with my brother and his family over on Indian Rocks Beach. when we had all the formal shots done i asked if they wanted to have some fun? and they said hell yes! so i started playing around with some different lighting setups and then my niece's husband said " can you take a picture of Amy kicking water in my face?"...i smiled an evil grin...and said oh yes i can. so here is the end result of that session. 

side note: i was a bit sad for the soft focus. it was a bitch getting my focus shooting right into the sun. i even tried to manually focus and even though i thought i was spot on i was not...live and learn

I need a dark gritty alley for a crime-fighter photoshoot. But it can't be so dark and gritty that I actually get mugged during the shoot (or shot during the mugging during the shoot). This town needs photography sanctuaries that are elegantly derelict with convenient access to parking and coffee. Is that so much to ask???

Learning new things is hard...

What I like about the new G+ thus far...

It makes far better use of space for large landscape-oriented photos

I love that the essential nav stuff is in a skinny ribbon at the top

I like the fly-out menu on the left as opposed to the static menu

What I am not crazy about...

The 3-column format is so jumbled. I really do have a hard time tracking it. I would love to see some statistics on what posts end up on the left side of individual feeds and if those articles get more interaction, and if the 3-column format is susceptible to the classic "Right Side Blindness" of web layout.

Auto-enhance is a piece of crap and I really do not appreciate Google deciding that should be enabled by default. I edit my pics before I post them. I don't want to have to un-edit Google's arbitrary... more »
