It's nice to know that the author of this article actually likes +Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams book and flavors, as not kind to the others in  this article.  If you get a chance to get to Columbus, Ohio, definitely try some of Jeni's ice cream.

+linda stokes look what I found hiding in a peony yesterday afternoon while walking Tobie.  I was lucky to get a good shot of him, as the wind was blowing the peony around and Tobie was anxious to get on with her walk.

Been meaning to share tips on how to photograph ink drawings for awhile.  Part of what got me into photography a bit more was the desire to sell my artwork, specifically ink designs on various art sites, and learning how to best photograph those works.  Here is an ink design I did on watercolor paper last night, and I will walk you through how I photograph and edit these works to see on the various art sites, such as Fine Art America.  I use my Sony NEX-7 as it can photograph my drawings quite well in low light (ISO here is 1600), which helps to keep glare from the ink out of the photo that can result from photographing in bright natural light or using a flash.  I lay the image flat on a surface and turn on some artificial lights.  Then I make sure that I am not casting any shadows on the image as I photograph it.  If I miss a bit on the edges, which can happen depending upon the size of the drawing,I jus... more »

+Olav Folland with my permission last night did a photograph using this ink design. That post can be seen here https://plus.google.com/u/0/113330053950020592701/posts/7ji1pqJLarh I ended up calling this ink design "Metamorphosis" as to me it seemed to be either two people springing out from the center of perhaps some abstract insect, or an insect with two faces on its wings.  This is part of the current starts with an "x" shape series of abstract ink drawings and abstract portraits.  When I work with these ink designs other than deciding on a shape to start with and idea like the "x" shape I never know where they are going to lead.

#abstractsinnature  +Abstracts In Nature curated by myself +Beth Akerman The other peony edits.  I posted the blue/green light edit last night, and here are the other edits of this peony that is around the corner from my place.  I used Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 to convert it to the black and white format and then used some of the filters in Photo Effect Studio Pro to make it different colors.  Of course, I am also showing the actual peony here too, but am partial to the monochromatic edits.

A little white wild rose.  There are wild raspberries and roses in this part of the park, and sometimes they are hard to tell apart when they are blooming, but the city pulled out most of the wild raspberries this past year, and the wild roses are easier to spot this year.  A couple of edits.

This is a personal favorite image from the 3rd HWSI Book and the HWSI Charity Print sale by +Cyrelle K. This photo is about rebuilding Japan after the tsunami two years ago.  My son and I raised funds for the Red Cross for Japanese Tsunami relief and hosted a Japanese exchange student two Summers ago from just outside the affected area.  In light of yesterday's horrific events in Oklahoma, I felt that this was a great image of hope to share today.  I plan on making a donation to the Red Cross to support the people of Oklahoma as they pick up after yesterday's devastation.  I hope that you will consider one as well.  I will also match any proceeds from the HWSI Charity Print Sale through the end of the week to support the people of Oklahoma.  I had a chance to visit Oklahoma City for the first time last Fall, and found the people there to be wonderful people.  My heart goes out to them.

Had to get out a few minutes this afternoon to see if I feel better outside, not really when it is this hot, but I couldn't stand being home sick any longer, so did a quick walk through the park. For some reason our suburb is doing some sort of letting things in parts of the parks go natural.  This half of the hill they are not mowing, and the other side is perfectly mowed.  Anyway needed a nice landscape for a change.

+Khrystiane Friedli has created a beautiful video about the third HWSI book "How We See It...the nature of our worlds" and the Charity Print sale that co-incides with the book's release.  Yesterday I received my prints from the Charity Print Sale, and they are wonderfully printed by Bay Photo. Today I received my copies of the books from Blurb books, and they are beautifully printed.  Thank you to all 73 ladies involved in this third book, and the over 120 ladies who have been involved in the various HWSI projects over the past year.
