What do you want to do this weekend? Beach? Mountains? Why not both?! I was pleasantly surprised to find that the beaches around Lake Tahoe are really nice, not too crowded, and serve up gorgeous views (and very comfortable weather).

A wintery summertime hike over Memorial Day weekend to Aloha lake near South Lake Tahoe.

Started easy enough hiking through a few miles of trail and some boulders, and then for the second half, the trail disappeared entirely under a cover of snow. Existing tracks went every which way, so we had to rely on a compass and the sun (since we didn't know the declination...) and our trusty Tom Harrison map of the area to bushwack for a couple hours before (finally) finding the lake.

A light (and hot!) hike out around Tucson, AZ this past weekend. Saw my first Saguaros (there's a picture in there of me next to one, for a sense of scale...) and more species of cactus than I knew could grow in one place. Pretty exotic - definitely recommend (especially during seasons when the seven waterfalls that we didn't make it to might actually be running :))

Another beer post (it's been a long month...). At Logan airport there's a Boston Beer Works that sells a blueberry ale - with actual blueberries floating around on the bubbles like a lava lamp. Way cool. And yummy!

Google Seattle has kayaks for employees to check out during business hours. Great for more interesting meetings, or just a brisk paddle around Lake Union before work :)

I didn't get Ferris Bueller's Day Off at all when I first saw it (I was like 11?) but it's gotten funnier every time I saw it afterwards. So the references at http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/30/hondas-ferris-bueller-super-bowl-ad-hits-web/?hpt=hp_t3 made me smile - though I miss Cameron's character (and the others)... Today we are introducing Search plus Your World, a new Google search experience centered around people. For the first time ever, you will be able to find personal results from your world -- your photos, your friends, your stuff -- in search.

It's rolling out today and should be available in the US for all signed in Google users over the next few days.

My Thanksgiving London trip, in 18 photos.

If there's one thing I learned, it's that 4 days is not nearly enough to see even half of the awesome stuff just within London itself - let alone the rest of the UK. It's a very cool city - I hope I get a chance to swing by again!

Every time I see a new recipe pop up, it almost makes me want to be a budget-conscious student again :)

Well, it's official! The BF and I are using our miles and going to London in a couple of weeks (over Thanksgiving), with a possible stop in Paris on the last day.

Do people have suggestions for things we could do? My original plan was to hang out in the British Museum every single day, but that sounds a little lame. We're especially clueless about things to do in the evenings...

It took several years to see #hashtags linked properly on Twitter. I'm glad to see Google+ provide initial support so soon after launch!

Hashtags are a great tool for helping distributed conversations collate on a moment's notice, and help people to discover content previous invisible to them.

For example, fellow Googler +Scott Zuccarino (who also happens to work on this feature!) recently discovered incredible photos being shared daily by the photo community on Google+ using the following hashtags (this list was collated by +Darrell Hudson):
