Breeding success for critically-endangered Mountain Chicken

The breeding triumph and the zookeepers’ elated reactions were captured on camera during filming for a brand new behind-the-scenes documentary series at ZSL London Zoo. The first episode of The Zoo will be aired tonight on ITV1 at 8:00pm.

Blue eyed baby saki monkey born at Whipsnade

The baby saki monkey at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo was born as part of a European Endangered Species Programme (EEP) and is an important addition. The youngster, born two months ago, joins mum Rio, dad Kos and brothers Jose and Paulo in the Zoo's Discovery Centre. The family of saki monkeys at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo have all been named using a map of South America, where they originate from, and the same method will be used to name the baby -- who measured just six inches long at birth. www.zsl.org

Have you met Tiny Tilly yet? She's the orphaned baby wallaby being hand-reared by keepers at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. The seven month old Bennett's wallaby, who would have been a little larger than a baked bean at birth, needed bottle feeding special milk and vitamin supplements around the clock when she was first found. Tilly will be looked after by keeper Jo for the next few months before going to live on the zoo's Children's Farm where she will join other hand-reared wallabies Ruby, Pip and Fidget.
