Scotland Photowalk 2015231Here is the official Event for the 2014 Donegal Photowalk. The kickoff will be Saturday morning, probably around 9am, however,  there will be people out much earlier to catch the sunrise, that's for sure. Some of us will even be there already on Thursday and Friday. (A good place to find the earlybirds is probably the local bar scene).  Please note that you don't have to confirm a booking or anything. Whoever shows up will be welcome.  If you can join us only for one day, Saturday or Sunday, that'll be fine, too, of course. We'll make sure to announce tour details and meeting points soon.  We hope to see you all there. And if someone has good connections to the weather gods, please let them know that we'd prefer the "no rain" option.  Cheers Athena, John & AndyDonegal Photowalk 20142014-09-27 09:00:0029
Photowalks Hamburg4131. *Bitte denkt an ausreichend Getränke/Wasser/Verpflegung etc. Photowalk Hamburg2014-04-12 12:30:0046

Scotland Photowalk 2015231Here is the official Event for the 2013 UK Seaside Photowalk. The official kickoff will be Saturday morning, probably around 9am. Then again, there will be people out much earlier to catch the sunrise, that's for sure.  Please indicate whether you will be joining us, so we have a rough idea of how many people we can expect. *ENGLISH VERSION* We‘ll meet up saturday from 10:30h at the „House of Photography“, where we can use the auditorium for some short talks by photographers and some organizational stuff. Group photo outside around 12:00h and then we‘ll move via architectural landmark Chilehaus through the buzzing inner city of Hamburg, crossing the main station and walk down to the Outer Alster lake, which we will cross with the boat at 14:21h (costs: €1.70). Route: http://goo.gl/pLK90G On the other side, we will walk north through the Alsterpark, then through a non destroyed part of old Hamburg, the old Jewish Quarter, the University to a park called „Planten un Blomen“, where, depending on the weather, we will end the walk. Ingress4,297,919Attention: Hamburg Agents should report to Restaurant Rosenhof, Tiergartenstr. 10 at 11:30AM for check-in and debriefing. Document then upload photos from the field to this public Google+ event album, and use the #Voynich hashtag. *From @108020987035258478791:* Intel suggests the Anomaly is being used by Enlightened Agents to create an XM buffer around @101180225942784917383 to aid her escape from the city. @117792105926525258257 is believed to be organizing this attempt along with a number of Enlightened Agents. Resistance Agents are believed to be organizing themselves to control the Anomaly and disrupt or intercept Campbell. Campbell may be carrying sketches or journal materials related to Shaper Glyphs. She may also be carrying information related to a scientific experiment (the so-called "double blind" informatics study) on the same topic. @108020987035258478791 Operatives have been asked to stand down and to allow +Hank Johnson's exfil plan to proceed uninterrupted (per @108020987035258478791 CEO Ezekiel Calvin). However, NIA, @115880454950193571355 , and/or @107849663787965375687 Operatives may be active. *Measurement Times:* We intend to measure the Anomaly 4 times, during the first five minutes of the hour at 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00 Hamburg Local Time (CEST). The exact measurement times are on the following page, encrypted using a One Time Pad, which will be revealed with the results of each measurements. Both within Hamburg and at each Remote Site, a single Cluster of Portals has been identified for each measurement. That is, at 13:00, Cluster 1 in Hamburg and Cluster 1 at each Remote Site will be measured, and so on. *Volatile (Key) Portals:* At each Measurement window, we expect there to be 12 Volatile Portals in Hamburg, and 2 Volatile Portals at each Remote Site. The Volatile Portals are expected to be more valuable to a Faction during this Anomaly. Each Volatile Portal in Hamburg will be connected to one of the Remote Volatile Portals, and in order to claim their value, both Hamburg and Remote Volatile Portals must be owned by the same faction. *Portal Nearest @101180225942784917383:* Because protecting Campbell is the goal, any Portal where she lingers will be extremely important to control and will have added value. To coordinate her protection, she will likely attempt to communicate information about such Portals to her allies throughout the day, most likely using Google+. *Scale of Anomaly:* Due to the scale of the Anomaly, we predict Agents utilizing bicycles will have an advantage. *Values of Portals:* At Measurement time, within the Cluster being measured: Portal Ownership: 1 per Portal Link connected to Portal: 2 per Link Ownership of Portal Nearest Campbell: 15 (Single Portal) Volatile Portal Ownership: 5 per Volatile Portal* Faction must own both Hamburg Volatile Portal and connected Remote Volatile Portal.XM Anomaly: Operation Voynich, Hamburg2013-07-13 11:30:00560

Google & Photos

In the past, I posted my photos to my stream and also into folders, so people can look at them when they go through my profile and see what I did in the past.

New G+: no photo tab anymore in my profile, hence no way for people to see my photos, hence no need for me to keep my photos on the Google server.

Result: gonna delete my photos on Google photos. They don't serve a purpose to me or anyone else anymore.

P.S. Same goes for my reviews of restaurants etc. - they've been split off my profile, too.

The one reason I hate Whatsapp.
I started anew yesterday afternoon, trying if that thing that works for millions of people will work for me, too. This is the result. I can't block these people. I can just delete them. This (+2 that I already deleted) is what goes on in my whatsapp. Is that normal? Or is it just because I am so super popular with... yeah, with what?

Was man nie kaufen sollte, Folge 28: Bauknecht
Meine Eltern haben einen Wäschetrockner von Bauknecht.
2 Jahre 7 Monate alt, Gerät tot. Kostete im Angebot 399,-.

Anruf bei der "Service"-Hotline. Dort gibt es ein "günstiges"
All-Inclusive-Paket für 199,- inkl. Ersatzteile.

Also, Finger weg von Bauknecht.

South Pointe & Shoot

This is South Pointe, the southern most point of South Beach, Miami.
This seems to be a mecca for photographers. There's a chinese crew in front, their model to the left under an umbrella, further down two assistants waving their sunbouncers while their photographer tries to capture to guys in shorts and polos (wtf?). Outside the frame on the right a red haired girl with full body tattoo was portrayed.
Photo productions park their RVs and trailers on the beach, while police cars with blinking lights stand guard so you don't walk into them. Overall, a lot of bahoo for, from my point of view, not that great of a setting.

So, I finished "Jessica Jones" on Netflix

... and I am not really sure how I liked it. Took me a while to get through it, found it too depressing to watch more than two at a time.

possible Spoilers

And in the end, everything was pretty much futile. Had she disposed him earlier, dozens of people would have been saved, so much pain avoided.

Also, why not shoot him from afar with a rifle?

Just saw that people I know commented on a post of a local photographer who I didn't know.
Thought it might be a good idea to check his stream out and see what he posts.

Turns out he posts links to his blog posts.
Turns out he posts those links to communities.
Turns out he did that for his last one 17 times, which now show up in his stream - one long scroll of one fricking post.

Well played Google.

New Layout

After a week or so, I got used to the new layout of G+. I wouldn't necessarily call it an improvement, more a catching up and streamlining within the Googleverse.

Most of what people criticized will be here shortly, namely easier commenting, three columns on widescreen and more than six circles in your circles stream tab.

Still, there's some things I can hardly bear. #1 on my list: the big red bar on top of my stream. Hate it. Simple as that. Profile pages have a nice neutral grey, only the main stream has red. I hope some extension will fix that at one point in the future.

Observation about Collections
- not sure if it is accurate. I just deleted my (only) collection "photos" and it stated "please be aware that all posts in this collection are deleted permanently".
I thought "that's ok, I don't care about the collection" - but it looks like that this also deleted the actual posts and not only the connection to a collection. This might suck for people who also want to store their photos here...? This can potentially have implications for some people, I personally can't be arsed to follow that up in order to confirm the mechanism ;)

(...) we’ve spent lots of time talking to people who are passionate about Google+. We visited them in their homes, we invited them into early testing communities and we learned more about how and why they use Google+.

And it seems that all those people they've met have completely different uses and expectations for G+ than I have. That's cool, I can use the "classic" interface for now and if they switch it off, maybe the new one is usable by then.

I still don't understand the road G+ is taking here though. Communities are not really great (at least the ones I checked out, your experience may vary) and I simply don't get collections and the idea why I should compartmentalize my posts or follow people as a one trick pony.

The exact opposite is G+ appeal to me - I follow people from all over the world an get to see their perspective on things and they share content that is of a concern to them and that I usually wouldn't see in my local media. It broadens my horizon. But that's probably not how it's supposed to be used ;)___

Collections and Communities are the G+ focus now.
Yay.
But to be fair, let's wait and see how the new thing turns out.
