David Bowden37,155Its been awhile....For over three years I collected and shared an exclusive B&W circle. This circle "was" one of the most shared on G+ for awhile. I would share it once a month with everyone as a part of my personal desire to share more quality B&W images and photographers. The requirement for being in this circle was that the photographer shot at least 60% B&W images (I tend to shoot 80%).There are some excellent photographers and friends here. I encourage you to take a look at their work. While I know that bulk circle sharing is a thing of the past or no longer the norm on G+ (which is a shame) I wanted to re-share a collection of truly inspirational people. You wont be disappointed. Re-share if you like their work</david>2014-05-06 23:16:1649012223

Thomas Hawk6,156,0612,500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 4 of 5)This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+.  I'm going to share it in 5 posts.  Thus far, I've shared last name A-Da, Da-Ho, Ho-Mi.  Today's , part 4 of 5, today, represents Mi-Sh.  I'll share the last remaining circle tomorrow.  I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers.  I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.A few notes about this circle. The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography.  I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly.  I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.).  I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks.  You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them.  I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks.  I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at.  There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle.  It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at.  Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference.  Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today.  There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+.  There are wayyyyy too many.  These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed.  I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :)  I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you.  :)Stay tuned for part 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.Part 1-5:  http://goo.gl/17ujpnPart 2-5:  http://goo.gl/3vn0OCPart 3-5:  http://goo.gl/lyVn6f*Note, Google Circles are terribly wonky.  It wouldn't let me add some photographers in my circle into these circles because of "domain errors."  If this affected you, sorry about that.2013-09-04 15:53:284916170106

Charles Lupica66,743          Top 1000 most followed active        photographers sharing content on G+                  Circle One: J to ZThis  is the second of two circles,  The first was shaerd on 16 May here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103236949470535942612/posts/FPsHj9E2QEo.  The circles have been divided alphabetically to help give more exposure to people with fewer followers and shared at different times to help keep down the stream saturation. Please plus, comment and share.  This circle has no requirements for future participation but your support and encouragement is appreciated. It has been two weeks since I announced my intent to update my circle of the 500 most followed photographers on G+.  I decided to do things a bit differently this time and so I'll share the top 1000.   To build the circles and the list I enlisted the aid of  +Bill Wood +Gemma Costa +Jen Baptist +Katy Houlne and +Margaret Tompkins   They built circles and vetted profiles.  My starting point for this was a list of 2000 names generously provided to me by +CircleCount. I would to thank each for their help.I have chosen the name of the circle carefully to try to accurately represent the contents of what will be in the two circles. The script / finding namesThe script was provided by CircleCount and looks through the tagline of every profile on CircleCount to find the word "photo" or "foto".  If a photographer doesn't have a CircleCount profile they won't be found.  If one of these two words isn't in their tagline, they won't be found.  A few people I know have fallen into this flaw in my thinking.  To fix this, CircleCount has asked me to provide a "whitelist" of names that the script misses.  The white-list list adds another 30 or so names to the result.   Keyword world a personal viewpointIf you don't use the word photographer to describe yourself how do you expect people to find you in a search. "Searcher of cute pixels", "Creative spirit that makes art out of light"; these might be poetic, they might touch your soul but the world looks for content based on keyword searches.  SEO is going to do the same. Consider carefully the words sou use to describe yourself if you want people to find you using search technology. How was the list processedThe list was sorted by the level of activity.  People that hadn't posted in the last month (approximately April 5 to May 5th) were removed from the list.  This included people that hadn't posted or people that had posted only once in the past 4 weeks.  Again, this has some flaws but I'm mostly happy with the results.  People who are posting only in private communities o2013-05-18 13:17:2050114186132

Charles Lupica60,136►►►►►►►═════════════════════◄◄◄◄◄◄◄         Top 500 most followed photographers          ►►►►►►►═════════════════════◄◄◄◄◄◄◄Once again it's time to share my circle of the top 500 most followed photographers.  I'm sharing the circle here but I posted the the full list as a series of posts on +Most Followed Photographers on G+. Photographers with an " * " in front of their name are not included in the numbered count because they only share outside content,  their content is content suitable to a blog and usually has no images associated with it, or they have become mostly or completely inactive on G+.This list was complied from two previous lists and a line-by-line search of CircleCount.  If you know of someone that should have been on the list and isn't, the most likely cause is that their +CircleCount profile doesn't include the word photographer, or camera, photo, or foto. Or, I had a senior moment and missed them.  I thought I had avoided that this time but I still managed to miss +Magnus Ericson should should be around 454. I noticed some interesting things when compiling this circle.  There are a lot of people that moved into the top 500 that abandoned G+ for some reason or their interaction has become one post a month.  I have also noticed that many of the photographers in this group have a lower follower count than they had 6 weeks to 8 weeks ago.  I'm not sure what conclusion can be drawn from this but I find it very curious. To view the lists please see the following links.001 to 080: http://goo.gl/mmr7w  4'431'409 - 55771081 to 160: http://goo.gl/mXuup  55368 - 37454161 to 240: http://goo.gl/rLmy1  37343 - 30457241 to 320: http://goo.gl/o06Hy  30131 -25785321 to 390: http://goo.gl/747Lf  25760 -23013390 to 450: http://goo.gl/xDc2D  23006 - 21347450 to 510: http://goo.gl/sEnac  21321 - 194402013-02-23 23:33:145001353799

Jeff Sullivan1,152,722Most-Followed 500 Photographers CircleWhile a circle like this has the obvious drawback of missing some excellent photographers newer to the site, Charles often follows up his Top 500 Most Followed Photographer circle with circles going all the way down to photographers with less than 5000 contacts.  Here are four circles Charles has created to help us discover and recognize photographers at all levels within the G+ community:Under 5000 -    Under 7500 -    Under 15,000 - 500 Most Followed Photographers - (here)I like to interact with people who are active in photography... share at least a photo or two of their own original work per week, so I'll slowly whittle the circle down to a stream of excellent photography (I've started, but may not finish for a few weeks).---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+Charles Lupica  Charles Lupica Dec 25, 2012 (edited)  -  Public►►►►►►►═════════════════════◄◄◄◄◄◄◄         Top 500 most followed photographers list                   circle of 500             and Group 6: 421 to 500►►►►►►►═════════════════════◄◄◄◄◄◄◄If you're not in this circle and you think you should be, I'm sorry.  I have missed a few people by pure accident.  My methods are entirely manual and I do miss people.  I have checked every profile and I have included only those people that share their own work, and share it on G+. Bloggers and people doing mostly reshares weren't included. Some big name photographers that don't share a lot of their own work were included - sorry for the double standard. Here is the 6th and last part  of my list of the top 500 most followed photographers - Here are links to the previous parts of the list.Group 1: http://tinyurl.com/cf58vws - 1 to 100Group 2: http://tinyurl.com/bodaspk - 101 to 193Group 3: http://tinyurl.com/bsb87u4 - 194 to 250 and circleGroup 4: http://tinyurl.com/d4ulv6q  - 250 to 340Group 5: http://tinyurl.com/cjpmgy4 - 341 to 420 Group 6: 421 to 500 and circle of 500 (this post)If you are on this list, I urge you to comment, plus and share the post. I have sifted through lots of pages and circles as well as http://circlecount.com/  to try to get an accurate list. If I'm missing anyone, please let me know.  I have specifically left off a few people who only share links to their content housed elsewhere,  people who share a lot of other people's work without sharing their own, or people that appear to be inactive. The rank numbers are off by 1 because I included the same person twice in an earlier list.#Top500CircleDec   #circleshare   #circlesharing   #sharedcircles   #sharedpubliccircles  420 +Jennifer Luzio 21797421 +Matt Suess 21794422 +Nichole McCall 21754423 +Dane Clingan 21718424 +Xavier Ruiz Canadell 21700425 +Emi Fujimoto 21697422013-01-07 15:33:25500221350

David Bowden34,725"The" B&W Circle on Google+Everyone, its that time again (well I am a few days late) to share the B&W circle. Last month we had hit 500 officially. I encourage you to take a look at their work and share the circle. Jeff Sullivan131,363Daily Photography Themes on G+: Curators Circle v1.0Daily photo themes can be a great way to share your best work, or to find creative work by others for enjoyment and inspiration.Lists of the daily themes, with notes on any participation details, are maintained by the following people:+Eric Leslie - http://ericleslie.com/guides/daily-photography-themes-googleplus/+Kol Tregaskes - http://bit.ly/kolgplusphotodailyhashtags+Ray Bilcliff - http://www.trueportraits.com/daily-photo-themes.htmJust Include the theme like today's #SelflessSunday in the text of your post, and others can find it in searches and you can enter that tag in the search box at the top of the page to find photos by other contributors.  However, that only works if many people using a theme are looking at (and commenting on) each others' posts.  On G+, like in so many areas in life, you get what you give.I've created two circles: one containing theme pages and this one containing theme curators.  Theme curators are among the most active photographers (or photography lovers) on G+, but if they're actively curating their theme, visiting most or all posts and interacting with many (comments, +1s, shares), they're also among the busiest, especially as the G+ community grows.  Keep your expectations of them reasonable and you won't be disappointed.  The golden rule, karma, "what goes around comes around"... take responsibility and be the interaction you want to see.  As people come to recognize your comments and posts, you'll get to know people and develop circles of community members to interact with on G+.This is intended to be a comprehensive, inclusive circle, so if I've missed a theme curator please let me know, thanks!2012-07-08 15:27:4433222730
Gailen Mapes12,295Hand Picked Photographers Circles - Canon Camera L-Q - 4 of 14Note: These circles are sorted by camera type and last name. I have had to split some circles because they exceeded 500 members.I am now sharing one circle per day, for the reason see: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/posts/RrPNTzHhQuHAs before these circles are photographers that I admire. They also have "more photos, less spam." There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity).Be sure to get all 14 circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to July 1st for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published June 15.)I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...2012-07-04 11:02:014081224

Jules Falk Hunter26,205This is the Selfy Sunday Fun Circle . . .  I've been putting this one together for people who enjoy pulling some surprises on our wonderful host Jeff Smith;  this is just an easy way to get the word out when we come up with some 'unofficial' theme or idea . Clothes are often optional, but fun is not ; )  Just comment on here if you'd like to be included  . This is not some exclusive club, but I do ask that only people who  regularly contribute to  selfy sunday respond.  ( and if you're in here and you'd rather not be, just let me know  )  2012-06-18 06:22:568233026
Cynthia Pyun11,332Share a circle DayOk, so I made that one up. But as I've been honored to be a part of several circles in the past, I wanted to share one that I watch all the time. This is my Bay Area circle. Disclaimer, it's not perfect and it's not all of you wonderful people I've met. I did this awhile ago, and am happy to add folks along the way :=)If you live in CA/northern CA and I've had a chance to remember you do, I've probably added you to this circle. It started out because I wanted to see what other photowalks were going to pop up in the area. Thanks to +elizabeth hahn and her +Northern California Photowalks (and More), my Google Calendar is automatically updated :=)But if you are new to Google Plus, and you want to see some great work and find out about a photowalk in the Bay Area, check out Elizabeth's calendar and add it to yours, and go ahead an use this circle to see some amazing and talented work!2012-06-15 17:13:151179013

I mean, you've seen circles for "Most interactive photographers", The Kick Ass Photographers", "The Inspirational Photographers", "The best Nature and Wildlife Photographers", and the list goes on.This post contains a list and a circle. The circle contains the 500 most followed photographers with less than 60'000 followers.  The list is a list of photographers that have more than 60'000 followers.  Most people on the list have over 1 million followers because they are on the G+ list of suggested users (commonly referred to as the SUL).  But who are the most followed ? Here is an updated version of a circle  I shared a few months back. I have tried to find all of the top photographers and add them to this circle. Obviously the last 50 places probably change daily so this is the list as I checked it before sharing. The number of followers needed to be on the list has changed a lot over the last 4 months.  Back in February you needed  13'117 followers, in mid-June that number is around 17'200. Why is this circle of interest ? Well, because it wasn't chosen by me or any other individual. It was chosen by the G+ community. Some of the people in the circle are great photographers, some are great at being interactive, some are just plain good at marketing themselves, and many have a combination of the above. But, in the end, the G+ community has chosen them as the top 550 photographers to follow.• Why is xxxx not on the list ?  Photographers that haven't been active on G+ for more than 6 weeks weren't included.  Several photographers that only post sporadically and generally less than one post a month aren't included• If you find someone on the list that you don't really think is a photographer, send me an email and / or a private post and I'll look into removing them or leave a comment below.• If you know of someone that I missed that has more than 17'200 followers, let me know and I'll add them to the list for next time.• You could call this the User's Choice Award circle because people on G+ have chosen to follow the people in this list and circle. Why share this circle ? Photographers were among the first people to embrace G+. Over the last few months I have seen photographers add significant numbers of followers and fall in over all standings. Wordy people and celebrities are overtaking photographers. +Trey Ratcliff +Thomas Hawk and +Lisa Bettany are the only photographer2012-06-14 13:42:29500244215241
Elizabeth Hahn19,891With the anniversary of G+ just a couple weeks away, I went through all the people in my circles, and made one just for people I've HIRL'd with.  This is a circle of 200 that with the exception of one person, I didn't even knew existed a year ago.  (the one person was one of the most recent I have met, too).  If I've forgotten you, please send me a message!!!!!  I've gone through my circles a few times trying to catch everyone.. but I still probably missed someone.I didn't follow any blogs, I didn't follow photographers on that other social network, I pretty much shot on my own.  In the last year I've been on more photowalks than I can count.  (I would guess over 40, but I haven't sat down and really counted).  Some of the folks I've just shook their hand and said hello, other's I've spent days in the desert, mountains and beaches of California with.  There are people from at least 4 different countries, pro photographers, casual hobby photographers, but they all have enough passion for it to get out and share their love of it with others.  While much photography, especially landscape photography is done alone, it also can be a really fun group sport.Add the circle if you wish, pass if you don't.  I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for changing my view of photography, and help me learn so much in the last year.  You all rock!!!!!2012-06-12 22:22:15200102119

Thomas Hawk2,480,3142,000 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+Part 3 of 4 (La-Ro)Part 1 of 4 (A-Ev) here:  http://goo.gl/Z333gPart 2 of 4 (Ev-La) here:  http://goo.gl/dX7lRThis is the fourth time since joining G+ almost a year ago that I'm sharing my photographers circle.  I shared it with 500 photographers, 1,000 photographers, 1,500 photographers and now 2,000 photographers.  I have to break my circle up into four 500 photographer circles as that is the G+ limit.  Each day this week (Mon.- Thurs.) I'll share a different circle.  Today is the third circle and includes photographers with the last name's La-Ro. A few notes about these circles.  I always get hated on when I share them by people.  Inevitably if I include 2,000 people, I will leave 50,000 people out.  This is not intentional or personal.  This circle is not "the best" photographers on G+ or in the world.  It doesn't mean if you are not in my circle that you are not a "quality" photographer.  This list is simply photographers that I've stumbled across for whatever reason over the past year and have chosen to follow their work.  In some cases I've gotten to know the photographers in this circle personally -- through photowalks and trips, hangouts, in real life, etc.  Many of these people are or have become my friends.  Most of the photographers in my circle though I don't even know.  They are just people whose work I admire and want to consume -- I hope many are future friends.  :)I use some objective criteria with this circle but I use a lot of subjective criteria too.  This is, afterall, my own personal circle that I look at and +1 from every single day.  My aesthetic taste and personal preferences may be very, very different than yours.  This is ok.  Art is subjective.  That said, here a breakdown of my own preferences and biases that influence who I add into my circle.1.  I like people who are active on G+.  If you haven't posted one of your photos in the last month you probably are not in this circle.  I use a script to uncircle inactive people regularly.2.  I like photographers who mostly post their own photographs.  I dislike clutter and "dumb stuff" in my photographers circle.  Excessive reshares, circle shares, memes, gifs, youtube videos, posts not about photography, web links, etc. make me uncircle or move people to a different circle.  I also like photographers who regulate how much of their photography they post to their stream.  I don't want to see 50 shots in a row of someone's vacation.  I think about 5 photos max a day feels about right to me.3.  *Controversial* I dislike signatures and watermarks.  You will find photographers in my circle that use them.  It's just a bias, not a hard and fast rule.  I mostly want this stream to be as watermark/signature free as possible.  I totally understand and respect your reasons and decision for using watermarks/signatures.  I hope you equally respect my decision to not want to consume photos mared up with them.  Please don't turn this into a discussion about watermarks/sigs, I've spent the last 10 years thinking heavily about this issue.  It's just a personal preference and bias.4.  I like people who are active, positive, helpful, enthusiastic G+ community members.  I dislike people who are rude, mean, complainers, trolls, harrasers, etc.  If you say mean things to people, about people, about their art or their work I don't want to follow you.  I'm fine with debate and disagreement.  It should just be done respectfully -- there's a huge difference between respectful disagreement and rude behavior.  Not only will you not be in this circle if you are rude, I'll probably block you too.  I want to surround myself with positive 2012-06-06 16:11:54497154131314

I need your help photografriends! I have a gallery show coming up next month and I want to take prints for sale but I have no idea where the best place to get cellophane sheaths to put the prints in would be. I can get the cardboard to go in there, but it's the plastic to put that in that I'm not sure about.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Gatsby's Ghost

Those of you who know me well enough know that I'm a helpless hopeless romantic to put it mildly, so obviously The Great Gatsby speaks to me on a very deep level. It's only right that my neighbors across the street have a green light on the porch. Every time it rains like it does here in the south my street turns into a river, and I feel like the Great one one himself. Tonight his ghost decided to show up on film. Those aren't tree limbs. I have a clear view of the light itself.

I think works for #FreakyFriday

Life is is so freaking awesome.

Hey SFers. I'll be in the Bay for the next few days. I'm booked solid with meetings and research until Monday afternoon and then it relaxes a little, but I should be able to squeeze in some personal stuff too, so let me know what's happening and where you'll all be. It'd be great to even grab a hug and a hi if we can't find more time.

Please plus in anyone you think might be interested.

Thanks!

In the last 6 months I've had two major spiritual/emotional breakthroughs that coincided with major life changes. BOTH times, the first one six months ago, and the second a couple days ago, my "third eye" has developed a dry flaky patch as if it were shedding skin. I've had monumental growth throughout that period, but in much smaller and evenly transitioned increments, but the two "holy shit epiphanies" have both caused the first two dry patches of skin of my life. Seriously. It's never happened before. I'm not gonna start getting all mystic or hoodoo voodoo guru on you, but that sure doesn't seem like happenstance to me.

Let go and let love. It's really that simple.

I hope each and every one of you have the chance to reflect inward long enough to be hit in the face with same brick of light that I have. My life is so beautiful and blessed that even a wordy ass like myself can't put it into words. I wish that for every single one of you.

To those of you that I know personally, thank you for being one more gear in the works that make my universe keep spinning. I'm eternally grateful for all of you, no matter how finite our time together, or how seemingly insignificant our interactions. Nothing is coincidence. That is one thing I have undeniably come to know.

If you're still reading at this point, go make your own happiness and quit lapping up my drivel, already ;)

The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive.

To him, a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is tragedy, a joy is ecstasy, a friend is a lover and a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create - so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He MUST create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating.

So since I got my 1959 Silvertone console stereo rebuilt I've been slightly obsessed with collecting vinyl (most of which I found from my old childhood collection, and a lot of my mom's old records) but I've been increasingly aware that I only need three records to get through the winter:

Tom Waits - Blue Valentine
Nina Simone - I put a spell on you
Dinah Washington - What a diff'rence a day makes

In the days of buying one song at a time through  a computer the art of the record as a complete piece of art has been lost. What would be your three snowbound stranded by the fire must have records?

Historical badassery. I want to see THIS series. This has Tarantino written all over it. To bad Disney owns the rights.

And now you know...

The real “Lone Ranger,” it turns out, was an African American man named Bass Reeves, who the legend was based upon. Perhaps not surprisingly, many aspects of his life were written out of the story, including his ethnicity. The basics remained the same: a lawman hunting bad guys, accompanied by a Native American, riding on a white horse, and with a silver trademark.

Historians of the American West have also, until recently, ignored the fact that this man was African American, a free black man who headed West to find himself less subject to the racist structure of the established Eastern and Southern states.

While historians have largely overlooked Reeves, there have been a few notable works on him. Vaunda Michaux Nelson’s book, Bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U.S. Marshal, won the 2010 Coretta Scott King Award for best author. Arthur Burton released an overview of the man’s life a few years ago. Black Gun, Silver Star: The Life and Legend of Frontier Marshal Bass Reeves recounts that Reeves was born into a life of slavery in 1838. His slave-keeper brought him along as another personal servant when he went off to fight with the Confederate Army, during the Civil War.

Reeves took the chaos that ensued during the war to escape for freedom, after beating his “master” within an inch of his life, or according to some sources, to death. Perhaps the most intruiging thing about this escape was that Reeves only beat his enslaver after the latter lost sorely at a game of cards with Reeves and attacked him.

After successfully defending himself from this attack, he knew that there was no way he would be allowed to live if he stuck around.

Reeves fled to the then Indian Territory of today’s Oklahoma and lived harmoniously among the Seminole and Creek Nations of Native American Indians.

After the Civil War finally concluded, he married and eventually fathered ten children, making his living as a Deputy U.S. Marshall in Arkansas and the Indian Territory. If this surprises you, it should, as Reeves was the first African American to ever hold such a position.

Burton explains that it was at this point that the Lone Ranger story comes in to play. Reeves was described as a “master of disguises”. He used these disguises to track down wanted criminals, even adopting similar ways of dressing and mannerisms to meet and fit in with the fugitives, in order to identify them.

Reeves kept and gave out silver coins as a personal trademark of sorts, just like the Lone Ranger’s silver bullets. Of course, the recent Disney adaptation of the Lone Ranger devised a clever and meaningful explanation for the silver bullets in the classic tales. For the new Lone Ranger, the purposes was to not wantonly expend ammunition and in so doing devalue human life. But in the original series, there was never an explanation given, as this was simply something originally adapted from Reeves’ personal life and trademarking of himself. For Reeves, it had a very different meaning, he would give out the valuable coins to ingratiate himself to the people wherever he found himself working, collecting bounties. In this way, a visit from the real “Lone Ranger” meant only good fortune for the town: a criminal off the street and perhaps a lucky silver coin.

Like the Lone Ranger, Reeves was also expert crack shot with a gun. According to legend, shooting competitions had an informal ban on allowing him to enter. Like the Lone Ranger, Reeves rode a white horse throughout almost all of his career, at one point riding a light grey one as well.

Like the famed Lone Ranger legend Reeves had his own close friend like Tonto. Reeves’ companion was a Native American posse man and tracker who he often rode with, when he was out capturing bad guys. In all, there were close to 3000 of such criminals they apprehended, making them a legendary duo in many regions.

The final proof that this legend of Bass Reeves directly inspired into the story of the Lone Ranger can be found in the fact that a large number of those criminals were sent to federal prison in Detroit. The Lone Ranger radio show originated and was broadcast to the public in 1933 on WXYZ in Detroit where the legend of Reeves was famous only two years earlier.

Of course, WXYZ and the later TV and movie adaptions weren’t about to make the Lone Ranger an African American who began his career by beating a slave-keeper to death. But now you know. Spread the word and let people know the real legend of the Lone Ranger.___Historical badassery. I want to see THIS series. This has Tarantino written all over it. To bad Disney owns the rights.

Today's word of the day is Apricity.
(noun) (obsolete) The warmth of the Sun in winter.

We spend so much time trudging ever forward through the cold and dark world we have constructed thinking that's what we are "supposed to do" that we don't stop to realize that if we just take a step or two to the side that we will be back in the light of the sun apricating. Sounds a lot like appreciating, doesn't it?

Sometimes we're on the wrong path, but sometimes we're just on the wrong side of it.

Step into the light. Slow down. Apricate, and appreciate.

The glory that was Rome is of another day

Where's that liquor cart?
Maybe we shouldn't start
But I can't for the life of me say why*

*From the sky the highway's straight as it could be
A string pulled tight from home to Tennessee*
And still somehow those ditches took a better part of me
From the sky the highway's straight as it could be

Take my hand, baby we're over land
I know flying over water makes you cry
Been in the sky so long
Feels like a long way home
But I can't for the life of me say why

Do we leave our love behind?
Would we leave our love behind?
Did we leave our love behind?
Would we leave our love behind?

Take my hand, baby we're over land
I know flying over water makes you cry
Been in the sky so long
Seems like the long way home
But I can't for the life of me say why

Did we leave our love behind?
Did we leave our love behind?
