I love comparing my BEFORE and AFTER photos when I get done editing. When I took this photo yesterday it was overcast and the lilacs had lost all of their beautiful purple color. So how did I get the color back? By using a trick I learned from a portrait photographer who showed me how to paint makeup on a model. I created a new layer in Photoshop, set blending mode to overlay and chose a pretty purple color to paint with. Set opacity to your liking. Be creative, you're only limited by your own imagination! Shortly after moving into our home in the country, a hummingbird came to visit me. I was standing on our open deck in early May when a Ruby-Throated hummingbird flew right up to me. It hovered for a few moments, made eye contact, and behaved as if it were curious about me. I had never encountered a hummingbird in this way before. The experience changed my life!!

On this day an Eastern Phoebe spent some time in our yard feeding. I wished it would have perched somewhere other than on the rope, but it didn't. I think I made the best of it? I moved as close to the rope as I could to narrow the depth of field.
