curator Circle0Curator Circle Edition 3After an astonishing success of the 2 previous Editions of my Circle, I decided to promote a new group of friends. These include among others Photographers, and a variety of engaging entrepreneurs that are active on Google+.The wisdom of the circle; only add people you think that add a value to your Google+ experience.I extend my thanks to those that shared my previous circles including: +not-just-web Marketing, +Vale mica, +Matt MacIntyre, +Bhattacharya P. +Mark Young. The circle's rules are pretty simple:1. curator Circle0Content Curator Edition 2As I said yesterday, I am here to share my fun with people that share the passion with me.Today's Tip  Did you add people and you are wondering that no one has cared to add you back? here can be one of your issues: you did not have an attractively written profile. Make sure you add a nice picture of you, a well crafted intro and more importantly let others know your fields of interest. In this edition, I will like to thank: +notjustwebmarketing.com +not-just-web Marketing  +Vale mica  +David Oldenburg  +Blythe Ayne  +Sanchia Adolph +Anastas Georgiadis  +Ashima Dogra +Ben Capelo +Ronald Balbach +Danica Macanga Here are the rules for those that part of this circle:1. Hung cuavan607Get in More CirclesWhen You reshare with a circle, you should also explain the benefits of participating in shared circles. Explain the BenefitsExplain that when they add the circle many people in the circle will add them back. Also,Explain that if they re-share your post that the circle creator may add them to their future shared circles. If you do these two simple things you will increase your re-share rate. You’ll get in more circles and you’ll improve your own statistics.2014-01-15 09:38:5450020837

JONY IVE: This Is The Most Important Thing I Learned From Steve Jobs

This sounds simplistic, but it still shocks me how few people really practice this. And it's a struggle to practice, but it's this issue of focus. Steve was the most remarkably focused person I've ever met in my life.

And the thing with focus is, it's not this thing you aspire to, or you decide on Monday, 'You know, I'm going to be focused.' It is a every minute, 'Why are we talking about this? This is what we're working on.' You can achieve so much when you truly focus.

And one of the things Steve would say — because I think he was concerned that I wasn't, heh, — he would say, 'How many things have you said no to?' And I would have these sacrificial things, because I wanted to be very honest about it, so I said no to this, and no to that, buthe k... more »

What focus means is saying no to something with every bone in your body think is a phenomenal idea, and you wake up thinking about it, but you end up saying no to it because you're focusing on something else.

Does anybody actually enjoy life?

Beautiful story and answer on Quora by Mark Hodak

About 70 years ago, two little French kids found themselves under a table looking up at a German soldier who was asking the curly headed child, "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?"  He asked this because that child had just told the other, based on what the soldier was saying a minute ago, that the soldier was thirsty and wanted some water.  This child knew what the soldier was saying because, unlike the other child under the table, he spoke Yiddish.  This child knew Yiddish because that's what European Jews spoke at home back in the day.

In other words, this soldier was asking that French child if he was Jewish by asking him if he knew German.  And when that little kid slowly shook his head no, the soldier must have figured he was lying, and that this child was what he and hisfel... more »

And when that little kid slowly shook his head no, the soldier must have figured he was lying, and that this child was what he and his fellow soldiers were looking for in that apartment building that morning.

So maybe the soldier was tired.  Or maybe he was lazy, or negligent.  Perhaps he was mad at his superior, and didn't feel like giving him another notch in his unit's belt.  Or maybe this was the soldier's moment of compassion.  We will never know why he simply shook his head and walked away that morning, leaving those petrified children behind to live another day.  But, unlike Anne Frank and millions of other children in hiding during the war, and the families who hid them (e.g., the other kid and his family), these two children did make it.

Fifteen years later, the curly headed kid was grown up and had a child of his own.  That was me.  I'll tell you one of the salient memories of my upbringing:  No matter what trouble I caused my dad, no matter what I pulled on him (and I cringe when I think back on all the shit I pulled, especially as a teenager), no matter how much I complained about school or friends or spending my weekends cleaning up the house and fixing up the yard as if I were a victim of forced labor, he always reacted the same way--he laughed.  It wasn't mocking laughter or sardonic laughter.  It was a happy laugh, as if I was really being funny.  It pissed me off, but that only got him to laugh harder.

It wasn't until I was almost in college that I even knew what a Holocaust survivor was, and that my dad was one of them.  Because he was so young at the time--eight years old when France was liberated--he is now one of the last remaining survivors with any memory of the Nazi occupation.

My dad doesn't always laugh or even smile.  He has gone through the same ups and downs as anyone.  He was especially hard hit by the loss of my mom--his wife of 47 years. But the look on his face here is his default countenance, a hint of a smile, as if the slightest thing could send him into laughter.

I now realize that my dad was laughing because he could, because all the little shit that we think is important or crucial or oh-my-god-now-what is small potatoes compared to the wonderful opportunity to fret about it.  The unwitting gift of that German soldier was not just a life, but an appreciation of what life enables us to experience--the good and the bad.

My dad truly enjoys his life.

And that life, and appreciation, was a gift to his generations, too.  When my kids came along, I found myself doing the same thing--laughing as much when they were peeved as when they were cheery.  At first, it was probably the unconscious mimicry of behavior modeled by my dad.  But when I thought about why it seemed so natural for me to laugh off their occasional tantrums as easily as I rejoiced in their cheer, I realized that it was precisely because my kids were capable of frustration, and joy, and the full spectrum of childhood experiences, reactions, and emotions.  They were fully alive, and that made me so happy I literally could not contain myself.

I don't know how far this gets passed down.  I hope my kids enjoy their lives; they seem to, so far.  I don't think I can make them or anyone happy, even myself.  I wish I could tell you how to be happy.  Maybe it's a realization.  Maybe it's a choice.  Maybe it's how we're wired.  Maybe it's a close call, where you are staring death in the face and it chooses for mysterious reasons to shrug and walk away, that gets you to permanently see things in another light.  I don't have the answer to that. But I can answer your question:  Yes, I actually enjoy life.

New EU Ecommerce VAT Rule Changes in 2015

Do you sell electronically supplied services, such as online training, music and film downloads, software? Then YES … PLEASE READ ON..

If you supply any of the above, the new rules change the country of taxation from the country where you, the supplier is established, to where the customer is established.

Rather than charge your own, local VAT rate, you will have to apply the local VAT rate in any of the 28 European countries where your customer is located

The GAP

“Nobody tells people who are beginners — and I really wish somebody had told this to me — is that all of us who do creative work … we get into it because we have good taste. But it’s like there’s a gap, that for the first couple years that you’re making stuff, what you’re making isn’t so good, OK? It’s not that great. It’s really not that great. It’s trying to be good, it has ambition to be good, but it’s not quite that good. But your taste — the thing that got you into the game — your taste is still killer, and your taste is good enough that you can tell that what you’re making is kind of a disappointment to you, you know what I mean?

A lot of people never get past that phase. A lot of people at that point, they quit. And the thing I would just like say to you with all my heart is that most everybody I know who does interesting creativework, they went through a phase... more »

A lot of people never get past that phase. A lot of people at that point, they quit. And the thing I would just like say to you with all my heart is that most everybody I know who does interesting creative work, they went through a phase of years where they had really good taste and they could tell what they were making wasn’t as good as they wanted it to be — they knew it fell short, it didn’t have the special thing that we wanted it to have.

And the thing I would say to you is everybody goes through that. And for you to go through it, if you’re going through it right now, if you’re just getting out of that phase — you gotta know it’s totally normal.

And the most important possible thing you can do is do a lot of work — do a huge volume of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week, or every month, you know you’re going to finish one story. Because it’s only by actually going through a volume of work that you are actually going to catch up and close that gap. And the work you’re making will be as good as your ambitions. It takes a while, it’s gonna take you a while — it’s normal to take a while. And you just have to fight your way through that, okay?”

Choose to make your life a story worth telling.

As humans, we are natural storytellers, and the tales of our experiences are ones that we should be excited to tell. Although most great stories require overwhelming odds of failure, it’s within the contours of uncertainty that life’s magic is discovered. Fight for what you believe in and surround yourself with people who help you grow. Because one day all of your possessions will fade away, but the strength of your legacy and the story of your life will remain. Make it a beautiful one.

Business as an Adventure

Business as an Adventure [NEW BLOG POST]
A metaphor about business being an adventure helps me enjoy every moment of the journey. Read the post in full here on G+ or click the link to read it on my newly redesigned personal blog.

An insight came to me while I was reading the book "A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy (http://www.kobobooks.com/ebook/-Guide-Good-Life-The-Ancient/book-FK_3-bYsW0ageJl_13t92Q/page1.html).

(So much revelation in the first few pages. Go and buy it. You'll thank me later.)

Yesterday I decided I would look at the new business I'm venturing into as an adventure.

Adventure-centered attitude is the best antidote to FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt).

If my new business is an adventure, then all the obstacles in my way are what makes the adventure interesting. Something to look forward to. A valuable learning opportunity. An opportunity to feel as hero of my own story.

If, on the contrary, I perceive my new business as a potential source of anxiety because of so many unknown unknowns, I will not enjoy the journey. I will only live for that one moment in the far, far future when I will have succeeded.

But what is an adventure good for if you're not enjoying every minute of it?

Always be yourself. Unless you can be Indiana Jones. Then always be Indiana Jones.

Doesn't Indiana Jones leave an impression of a man having a lot of fun? Even when you see him in a deep pit fighting snakes?

That's how I see myself today: as Indiana Jones. Coming to the office in the morning equals to showing up for an adventure.

Hmmm, I wonder what new insights await me as I'm writing and publishing my next newsletter issue.

I wonder what great people I might meet today on Twitter. Maybe some of them become my future friends. Maybe some of them will be delighted about the app I'm working on because it helped their business.

Who knows what this temporary setback I'm experiencing teaches me in the long run.

What is the worst that can happen if I don't set up this Facebook advertising campaign right?

An adventure-oriented attitude. It's ten times better than worrying about whether your business would lead you to where you think you'll be in two year's time. If the ability to control outcomes is an illusion anyway (see this for reference: http://zenhabits.net/unknowing/), why force dissatisfaction on yourself? Simply relax and mindfully enjoy the ride.

Your current time and place is a page from an adventure book. You're telling your journey's story on every page of that book, not only at its end.

When I look back at the last decade of my life, I see it as an adventure in learning. What I've learned in that period helped to prepare me for the new adventure that's in front of me.

This thought alone makes me super excited about my future and super grateful about my past. If you ask me what my life's goal is, it is to live the life of no regrets and to die empty.

Regarding regrets: so far so good :) I'm not ready to die just yet, though. I've got work to do.

Awakening

Most of us, go through life pretending…
That we don’t have any special goals or ambitions or desires…
When really deep down inside we do really want more.

We block ourselves, and we use this words almost like we where in a trans.
Like we sleepwalking through life.
That we find ways to cancel our dreams,
A lot of things we want do, a lot of places we would like to go, a lot of things we would like to experience
and we just stop at ‘but’…

but’ will cause you to hide out behind fear
but’ will cause you to come out with all type of excuses
that you can validate your in action and not acting on your dream

Awakening

Most of us, go through life pretending…
That we don’t have any special goals or ambitions or desires…
When really deep down inside we do really want more.

We block ourselves, and we use this words almost like we where in a trans.
Like we sleepwalking through life.
That we find ways to cancel our dreams,
A lot of things we want do, a lot of places we would like to go, a lot of things we would like to experience
and we just stop at ‘but’…

but’ will cause you to hide out behind fear
but’ will cause you to come out with all type of excuses
that you can validate your in action and not acting on your dream
but’ is a dream killer

But most people, you know what they do?
Most people go through life quietly and safely tiptoeing to the early grave. We’ve been holding back,
we have ideas that we don’t act on. Things we want do, we afraid to take a chances.

A lot of people say ‘No’ to things that they don’t even know what they are saying ‘No’ to.
Don’t allow ‘but’ to keep you in the corner.
There are a lot of people,
who say:
‘But I tried once
or twice…
and it didn’t work out’.
And so they use that as an excuse
not to ever come out again.

Even if things don’t work out, even if I experienced to feel a failure…
that doesn’t make me a failure

It’s a difference between falling and being failure
If things don’t work out, if you don’t produce the result that you want, that’s all.

But DON’T CONFUSE WHO YOU ARE with THE RESULT THAT YOU PRODUCE.

Do what you can, where you are with what you have and never be satisfied.
Don’t get satisfied with yourself!

Always know, that wherever you are you can enjoy more, that you deserve more.

Why don’t you decide now, that you going to expand your world,
that if other people can learn, you can learn to.
If you are working on your dream,
sure there will be times you want to give up,
sure there will be times that life will knock you down and kept you on the blind side.
But the challenge is to hold on.
And if you hold on tenaciously I said that universe is on your side.

See, If you don’t decide to act on your dream,
if you don’t decide to make a decision to live your life,
if you don’t decide to step into your fears,
if you don’t decide to say Yes to your life…
It will never work for you.
You gotta live what’s in you!

Life is just too short and unpredictable.
But what are we saying,
‘but there always be tomorrow’… oh no.
There is no guarantee, that you gonna show up tomorrow.
Always something there…
To build a case, why you can’t move on,
why you can’t go to the next level, why you can’t begin to manifest your greatness.

Why you can’t begin to live life on your terms.
That’s you gonna say ‘It’s not worth it’,
Yes, that’s gonna be right there for you!
It’s gonna be on your face, telling you to ‘go back’!
So if you want do something, if you thought about something you want to do,
take head-on.
And life will never be the same again.
LIVE YOUR DREAM!

Is it possible for you to have all your dreams become a reality in your life time?
Yes, it is possible!
Bu real question should be ask yourself is:
Have you made the decision?

10 Life Lessons to Excel in Your 30s

"A couple weeks ago I turned 30. Leading up to my birthday I wrote a post on what I learned in my 20s.

But I did something else. I sent an email out to my subscribers and asked readers age 37 and older what advice they would give their 30-year-old selves. The idea was that I would crowdsource the life experience from my older readership and create another article based on their collective wisdom." - text from site

Any life lessons that my old Google+ friends could share? :) This will be the year I will turn 30.

The Stress Of Being A Computer Programmer Is Literally Driving Many Of Them Crazy

I have no problems with the imposter syndome. I know that lot of coders I work with are smarter, more talented and more skilled than I am! Actually that is my requirement when time to time I am outsourcing some of my works, be smarter than me!

And since I am an average programmer, it´s good to have my own company, it´s impossible to fire me :)

Two things are going on that are literally driving programmers crazy.

One is something known as the "imposter syndrome." That's when you're pretty sure that all the other coders you work with are smarter, more talented and more skilled than you are. You live in fear that people will discover that you are really faking your smarts or skills or accomplishments.

The trap of imposter's syndrome is that programmers think they need to work harder to become good enough. That means spending more time coding — every waking minute — and taking on an increasing number of projects.

That feeling is called the "Real Programmer" syndrome.. more at:

You Don’t Need Money to Find Meaning

By +Jaime Tardy

When I was working in the corporate world I worked in the cable industry, providing video on demand. I remember one day I was working in another state and, I’ll admit, I was freaking out over some of the issues that had just cropped up. It was up to me to fix them, and I wasn’t sure that I could do it, but I had to. My stress level was high because the problems had to be fixed now.

A coworker came up to me, seeing me stressed, and said, “Jaime, it’s just cable TV, it’s not like we are curing cancer.

That was my wake-up call.

We only have one life here on this Earth, yet we tend to forget that fact all too often. We tend to let the minutiae of our lives take precedence. We need to put things back in perspective.

You don’t need to be a millionaire to have the lifestyle you want. In fact, you probably don’t need anywhere close to a million dollars to have the lifestyle you want. Most of us just want to enjoy our work and contribute to the world. What we don’t want is to work at a widget factory that doesn’t seem to make this world any better.

Why figure out the lifestyle first? Why don’t we just work our butts off for a lot of money and then have a ton of time to enjoy it? Because I can tell you from experience, you won’t be happy.

When you make it all about the money, everything suffers.

Removing My Goal

I gave up my goal of being a millionaire while I was figuring out how to love my work. During this time, it wasn’t about the money but about getting to a good place in life. My goal was to find something I loved. I wanted my own business that would grow into something bigger. I wanted to find something where the income was not capped, I wanted to help people.

Only later, after finding the work I loved, did I realize I could add that goal of being a millionaire back. However, I want to do it on my terms. I wanted to live this life to the absolute fullest, retire with dignity, and do amazing and wonderful things. I wanted to become a better person by learning to deal with challenges. I wanted to help more people.
That means it may take longer for me to become a millionaire. Heck, I could have done it much faster if I had kept my previous job. But enjoying every day was more important than that goal.

The biggest mistake that I had ever made in my career was sacrificing my marriage, my health, and my kids to try to make money.
—Dani Johnson, multimillionaire speaker

Your goal might be different. You might not need to create a million-dollar net worth or business. Maybe you just want the freedom that six figures affords you. Then you can save your million even if it takes longer. The person who dies with the most toys doesn’t win the game. In fact, we aren’t even looking to win the game. We are just looking to make progress; to make our skills better than they were before, and to help as many people as we can in the process.

Genome Surgery

"Now there is hope in the form of new genome-engineering tools, particularly one called CRISPR. This technology could allow researchers to perform microsurgery on genes, precisely and easily changing a DNA sequence at exact locations on a chromosome."

Interesting reading, at least for me , got very interested in Genetics after our kid was diagnosed with deadly Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I am Realistic Optimist, I am vigorously optimistic that we might see a treatment on his lifetime but same time I am preparing for the worst and doing things with my kid now that we might not be able to do in a few years.

Illumina Tops Smartest Companies list 2014

Almost 25 years after the Human Genome Project launched, and a little over a decade after it reached its goal of reading all three billion base pairs in human DNA, genome sequencing for the masses is finally arriving.

It will no longer be just a research tool; reading all of your DNA (rather than looking at just certain genes) will soon be cheap enough to be used regularly for pinpointing medical problems and identifying treatments.

This will be an enormous business, and one company dominates it: Illumina.

The San Diego–based company sells everything from sequencing machines that identify each nucleotide in DNA to software and services that analyze the data.

Seth Godin: Welcome to the monoculture
Here's the local supermarket in a little town, way off the beaten path. And there, right next to the cash register, are Lindt chocolate bars--from Switzerland.

Here's the local radio station, thousands of miles from the epicenters of music culture. And the next song--it's the one that kids in every country in the world are watching right now on YouTube....

What monoculture ... mean is that the churn isn't local as much as it's national and worldwide now....___Welcome to the monoculture
