Dustin W. Stout20,922Weekly Gratitude CircleActive Engagers from the previous weekA big thank you to all of you wonderful people who have actively engaged with in the comments of one or more of my posts this past week! Although my travels and vacationing have limited my ability to interact with all of you, please know that I have read every single one of your comments! I greatly appreciate your conversations! This week's #muchbettermonday  shared circle took a lot of sorting since there were more than a few posts that got some significant traction. If you're looking for thoughtful conversationalists to add to your Google+ circles, look no further! Add these fine folks and watch your engagement rise! #sharedcircle  2013-08-19 16:43:2023637642
Mark Crosling546Engagement And Gratitude CircleThis Circle compiled by +Dustin W. Stout are the people that have actively engaged in conversation with him over the last week. Dustin W. Stout18,642Engagement And Gratitude CircleI want to do something different with this weeks #muchbettermondays  shared circle. If you've gotten a notification about this post, there is a reason and I never notify without a real reason. If you've gotten the notification then you are a part of this circle and I want to share my gratitude for your willingness to have a conversation with me in the past week! Everyone in this circle has commented on one of my posts in the last week. I've filtered out all the "hi" people who aren't really adding to the conversation, and only included those who were earnestly looking to engage. Gratitude can be contagiousWith that in mind, I want you to show your gratitude to those people who have engaged with your content recently! Spread the gratitude and let's see how many people we can touch! In the comments below, name your top 3 most engaging commenters. You don't have to stop at 3, but just name those people who make your Google+ experience truly social by engaging in conversation. How about it folks? Let's make this a gratitude filled #muchbettermonday ! #sharedcircle  2013-07-22 22:14:0821930416154

From the MLS Kick Off newsletter. Made me laugh, since I live in my own "Midrange City" and would love to have an expansion club (at least nearby...)

EXPANSION FOR EVERYONE

Let's be honest, MLS expansion is exciting. It's fun to speculate about which cities might one day host teams, where they would play, what they'd be called, etc. However, not every campaign for an MLS franchise is going to be a winner. As this parody piece aptly shows, some of them are unrealistic and some of them are just downright silly.

PoliceOne, a law enforcement site, conducted the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on the topic gripping the nation's attention in recent weeks: gun control. They talked to over 15,000 law enforcement professionals.

Some of the results may surprise you.

The PoliceOne conclusion?

"Contrary to what the mainstream media and certain politicians would have us believe, police overwhelmingly favor an armed citizenry, would like to see more guns in the hands of responsible people, and are skeptical of any greater restrictions placed on gun purchase, ownership, or accessibility."

Found a number of new plants that caught our eyes, and we'd like to add to our place:

3. Red buckeye (Aesculus pavia) - read about this tree in an article the other day as a beautiful tree with gorgeous blooms that will tolerate wet feet, we got to see it in the gardens today, though not in bloom http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/j210/aesculus-pavia.aspx

4. Bottlebrush buckeye (Aesculus parviflora) - also not in bloom today, but the blooms in pictures look nice and are supposed to attract butterflies. The foliage was quite nice, and the size is a step down from the Red Buckeye, and would make a nice additional layer - http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/b180/aesculus-parviflora.aspx

5. Camas (Camassia leichtlinii). This pretty little flower would be a nice addition to the edible landscape - the bulbs can be eaten raw, cooked, or made into flour. They were frequently used for food by Native Americans, and helped keep members of the Lewis and Clark expedition alive. http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/q550/camassia-leichtlinii.aspx

Honorable mention: The gardens have beehives, and I'm always interested in what plants I see the bees on. While not new to us - we already have some - the plant that by far had more bees working them than any other in the garden today was an herb: sage (Salvia x superba). This was used all over the gardens as a border, and invariably the bees were all over them. http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/f174/salvia-x-superba-adora-blue.aspx___
