Daria Musk3,576,566Expand to read the story and learn how to join live!Three years ago to the day, I stood in front of my computer - a guitar in my hands, songs in my heart, fingers trembling - about to press a button that said, "Hangout". I was still waterlogged with rainy nights of lugging my amps into tiny clubs and tears from the not-knowing-what-would-happen to my dreams. That night, when I hit "Hangout" you saved my dreams, you saved me. Your faces popped in. We sang all night. Six hours later my heart was six million times bigger and I would never be the same. Every year I want to celebrate that day. I want to thank you face to face. I want to meet back at our special place and sing your praises. It's time for Hangoutiversary III. PLEASE, BE CELEBRATEDSo please, meet me on July 16th. Right here, inside the place where we had our virtual first date. Comment back and let me know that you're planning to come, I will organize special circles of you all, so we can rotate the 10 seats and meet and meet and meet again.I'll sing our songs of celebration. I'll sing new songs of adoration, to you and this crazy world that gives us a chance just when we think maybe it can't. Come with your hopes and your dreams to be amplified and your updates and your friends and families and fantasies. Let's sing 'til our throats go weak and dance in front of computer screens, like the silly beautiful people we know ourselves to be.  HOW TO HANGIn case you're new or rusty all you have to do to join this Hangout is: ✪ RSVP a big fat yes here.✪ On Wednesday, July 16th come back to this page when the Hangout starts (6PM Eastern US Time).✪ You can watch or click "join" to on my page +Daria Musk!✪ Don't for get to comment and let me know if you want to join and around what time. ePublish Unum - Education for Authors160,326We admit it--sometimes we focused too much on the latter end of the digital publishing lifecycle. But for many should-be authors, getting past the "why would anyone care what I have to write about?" is a giant hurdle. If you're sitting there filled with self-doubt, you certainly aren't going to start writing, let alone get published. On the next Books & Beer Hangout, +Michael O'Reilly joins us for a lively conversation about this very topic. We'll deal with fears, rewards, tests and motivation to move you past that point and get you started on the path to being a published author. And remember, you can join in for the B&B Hangover at :15 after the hour to get your questions answered live! But you have to be in our circles to get the invite, so do so now!Books & Beer is co-produced and co-hosted by +Evo Terra & +Jeff Moriarty, publishing pioneers and craft beer enthusiasts. We Hangout every Monday, at 6:00 pm PT/9:00 pm ET as a Google Hangout On Air. Join us!Books and Beer: Why Should Anyone Care What You Have To Write About?2013-04-30 03:00:007

Gailen Mapes73,148Hand Picked Photographers Circles - Canon Camera N-Q - 9 of 31Note: These circles are sorted by camera type and last name. They are split to not exceed 200 members. These circles are photographers that I admire. They have "more photos, less spam."  There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity). Be sure to get all of the circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to December 1st for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting November 7th.)  You can also use the #handpickedcircles hash tag and sort by "recent."I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at:   https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday   #sharedcircles   #sharedcircle #sharedpubliccircles   #fullcircleshare #addmetoyourcircles   #bestsharedcircle   #thebestcirclesongoogle #thebestcircle             #handpickedcircles             Note: the hash tag #handpickedcircles  should only be used to refer to these circles and other circles created by +Gailen Mapes .   Thanks for your cooperation.2014-12-09 12:00:00129000

Gailen Mapes70,942Hand Picked Photographers Circles - Canon Camera N-Q - 9 of 31Note: These circles are sorted by camera type and last name. They are split to not exceed 200 members. These circles are photographers that I admire. They have "more photos, less spam."  There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity). Be sure to get all of the circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to November 7th for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting October 1st.)  You can also use the #handpickedcircles hash tag and sort by "recent."I am hard up against the 5000 limit. Thanks for your cooperation.2014-11-09 11:33:10131614

I Made A Spreadsheet

I've heard a variety of people making claims about which political party is better for the economy. So I made a spreadsheet to see what I could find out. I went to the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis (http://www.bea.gov/national/index.htm#gdp) and got a list of year to year GDP change from 1930 to 2013. Then I went to the Tax Policy Center (http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?Docid=543) to find the top tax rate for each year. Next I searched for a list of S&P 500 annual returns. (http://financeandinvestments.blogspot.com/2014/02/historical-annual-returns-for-s-500.html) Finally I went to Wikipedia to get the list of party control of Congress for each year. Well, for tonight, at least. My wife had a Monarch butterfly chrysalis on a little branch in her mesh butterfly habitat, and when we got home this evening it had become this lovely butterfly. It's hanging out in the habitat with a bowl of water and fruit, and tomorrow will be released into the wide world of our backyard. Such are the exciting weekend times around here!

Monarch Update

Yesterday morning the Monarch butterfly was hanging out inside the mesh habitat looking fine and fit. My wife made him a fruit bowl and moved him outside to the front yard. He stayed there much of the day enjoying the feast, but by late afternoon he had moved on. I wish him well in his journey!

Sometimes The Only Competition Is Yourself

I went to my company holiday party last night, at a venue with food, drinks, video games, and an air hockey table. My coworker Yurii pretty much owned the air hockey game, beating all comers. That inspired me to put together this shot of him playing with the only person in the room that could give him a run for his money.

What These Eyes Have Seen

I ran into this gentleman sitting on a short stone wall last week at the Texas Renaissance Festival and asked if I could take his picture. He was kind enough to agree, and when I showed him the shot on the camera he said "Wow, I'm looking kind of old and worn." I told him I thought he looked pretty cool.

I guess if I'd been clever I would have waited to post it on #gingerthursday , but I didn't want to wait.

Tilting Away The Afternoon

Here's a shot I got of one of the jousting contestants at the Texas Renaissance Festival on Friday. I believe this happy fellow represented France in the competition, and had just done well skewering rings with his lance. Soon after this he and the other contestants donned their helmets and proceeded to attempt to unhorse each other. Germany prevailed in that event.

Crack That Whip!

My family and I attended the Texas Renaissance Festival yesterday, and it occurred to me to take my camera along. I took a ton of pictures, including this one of Adam "Crack" Winrich using a chain-mail bullwhip to whip a soft drink can in half. We had a ton of fun, as usual, and I look forward to going through all the pictures and seeing what else I ended up with to share. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and a great holiday for those of you where it's Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Moon

I took this shot of the moon yesterday evening, a clear Thanksgiving night. Note the marked difference 2.5 weeks makes since I posted the other moon shot I took. We take the phases of the moon for granted, since they're always going on overhead, but when we take the time to pay attention it's a very fascinating thing.

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_divisions_of_United_States_Congresses) (Note: Due to reader complaints about my use of Wikipedia as a source for a list of... more »

(http://financeandinvestments.blogspot.com/2014/02/historical-annual-returns-for-s-500.html) Finally I went to Wikipedia to get the list of party control of Congress for each year. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_divisions_of_United_States_Congresses) (Note: Due to reader complaints about my use of Wikipedia as a source for a list of party control of Congress I have gone to http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/history/one_item_and_teasers/partydiv.htm and http://history.house.gov/Institution/Party-Divisions/Party-Divisions/ to verify the accuracy of that data. In what will come as a shock to almost nobody, Wikipedia's information turned out to be completely accurate.)

I spent a little time mashing all that together into a single spreadsheet and ended up with a nice, sortable list of each year's GDP change, S&P 500 change, top tax rate, and the party controlling the White House, Senate, and the House of Representatives. First thing I did was to sort the list by GDP change as a general proxy for The Economy. Essentially, the economy has done overwhelmingly better during Democratic administrations as compared to Republican administrations. As shown in the chart below, of the top 24 years since 1930 the government has been almost entirely under Democratic control.

Then I got to wondering whether perhaps the Republicans may not have benefited the GDP so much, but instead helped out the stock market returns. I mashed those numbers and the result was so jaw-dropping that I had to recheck my work several times. If you had $1,000 in 1930 and invested in the S&P500 only while there was a Democrat in the White House, keeping your money in the mattress during Republican administrations, at the end of 2013 you'd have had $344,307.20. If, on the other hand, you followed the exact opposite tactic and invested only while the president was a Republican, and stayed out of the market during Democratic presidencies, at the end of 2013 you'd have had $6,721.72.

For my next trick I'm going to do the analysis based on Congressional control just in case it turns out that the purse strings have a bigger effect on the stock market than the presidency, but based on the way the chart looks I don't know if that will make much difference. More to come!

EDIT: Oh, hey, I almost forgot. If you look at the tax rate column, you'll note that in the best 24 years of GDP growth the top tax rates are WAY higher than current. In fact, the lowest top tax rate on the list is 1984, when it was only 50%. I'm not sure I believe the rhetoric that lowering tax rates helps the economy.

FURTHER EDIT:  Oh, oh, oh, I forgot one important thing: While this is a fine intellectual exercise the actual even better rule turns out to be "Stay invested in the stock market all the time." Even though the Republican administrations' return was only a relatively paltry 6.7 times, that means that $1,000 invested in the S&P 500 in 1930 and just kept going all the way until the end of 2013 would be worth $2,314,336.59. The point of the post was to illustrate the surprisingly disparate performances, not to actually suggest a good investment rule to follow.___

Splash, Part 2

I shot some more swim pictures this weekend, and among many others got one that fits in with the theme of the one I posted last week. It's kind of neat having the focus a little in front on the splashes, to give a strong sense of motion to the whole thing.

Also, crazy lens is still crazy. :)

Sometimes The Focus Isn't Right, But It Still Works...

This evening I'm processing pictures of last week's swim meet. (I'm a little behind schedule, due to my accidentally taking way too many shots.) Anyway, I ran across this one that was all out of focus on the swimmer, and I noticed it was because the auto-focus grabbed onto the water splashing above one of the closer lanes. I cropped in, and I kind of like the effect of the sharp, frozen droplets hanging in the air. It almost looks like I was shooting through a piece of glass with water on it. Anyway, I may be a little loopy from going through so many shots, but I figured I'd share this. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Net Neutrality 101, Care Of The Oatmeal

Net Neutrality is an issue near and dear to my heart. Just recently President Obama, finally and thankfully, came down on the side of solid Net Neutrality. In a predictable knee-jerk reaction, Senator Ted Cruz apparently decided that if Obama is for it then he must be against it. (It probably helps that the major cable companies are big donors to the Cruz war chest.)

Rather than go on and on about Net Neutrality and why everyone in the world should be for it, I'll just leave this awesome explanation by Matthew Inman at The Oatmeal:

I'll Give You The Moon

After we got out of the swim meet last night I still had the crazy lens I borrowed from my friend attached to my camera. On the way out to the car I noticed the moon, just a couple of days past full, hanging nicely in the clear sky. I decided to see how well the lens would work on getting a shot of the moon, and really I think the answer to that turned out to be just fine. I'm pretty sure this is the best shot of the moon I've ever gotten. The nice thing about it being a couple of days past full is that it puts some excellent shadows in the upper right, really giving some depth and definition to the craters. The moon is such a beautiful sight, and it's always right up there for us to see. All we have to do is take the time to look.

Swimming At Texas A&M

My son is at a swim meet out of town, and I came along to take some pictures. They said I couldn't come down on the deck, so I borrowed a lens from a friend that would make it seem like I was down on the deck. This thing is kind of ridiculous, but it sure does get the job done. :)

My Wife Is An Awesome Force Of Nature!

The Native Plant Society of Texas was kind enough to give my wife this nifty plaque, conferring on her their 2014 Digital Media Award for her nature blog, www.greatstems.com. She's a great writer and photographer, and her love of native plants and wildlife really shines through in her blog. I'm really proud of her for getting the award, and more importantly for doing everything she does to truly deserve it. Now if I could just get her to post her stuff to Google+, too. :)

19 Years In The Blink Of An Eye!

It's a momentous day here in the O'Reilly household. My beautiful wife has put up with me for nineteen years now, and while I don't exactly know how she does it I'm certainly the better for it. Happy anniversary, my love! It seems like yesterday.

Hallmark doesn't list a particular gift thing for Year 19, so I guess we're off the hook, but apparently Year 20 the appropriate thing is China! I guess that means we'll have to take a trip next year. That'll be exciting!

The New Owl House

This past weekend I finally got the new owl house up on the tree. It's the same dimensions as the last one, with a couple of modifications. First, my wife suggested that I put a front door on the thing to make the annual cleaning easier up on the ladder. To do so, I designed a multi-part latching system to hold the thing tightly shut and keeping curious animals from opening it. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it to make sure it weathers well.

Second, this version contains a wireless web-cam mounted on the inside ceiling. If all goes well we should manage to get some images and even video of the baby owls inside the house next spring. Now all we have to do is hope that the owls decide to live in this house and not the other one next year. Jaime

I'm sure many of you are familiar with +Jaime Ibarra's amazing work. His images are equal parts sharp photographic eye and post-processing wizardry. In person he's a nice, down to earth guy who I'm glad I occasionally get to visit with at local Drink & Click events. Here's a shot I got of him at the last one, messing around with his camera. I'm happy with the way it came out, and he promised me that he would hate any shot I got of him, so I don't have the pressure of worrying about whether or not he likes it. :)

I enjoy spending some time with photographers chatting about the stuff that interests us and would presumably bore everyone else to tears. That's certainly one of the draws of the Drink & Click events I go to periodically. I was pleased to see +Jessa Peters at the last one, and got this shot of her. She makes just standing around look pretty good.

On The Tracks

During last week's Drink & Click outing +Aigerim Sobhani was kind enough to step out from behind her camera and in front of mine. This shot is from the train tracks across the street from the Yellow Jacket bar heading in toward downtown Austin. Fortunately there are no trains at that time of night, so we had a little time to play around getting a shot. Getting her and the background was a little tricky, but it all seems to have worked out in the end. Thanks for posing, Aigerim!

Edit: I was totally remiss in not also thanking +R.J. Cichocki for the lighting assist for the shot! It takes a village to raise a picture, you know.

Hanging Out At The Yellow Jacket

Last Thursday evening I went to a Drink & Click event starting at The Liberty and moving from there to the Yellow Jacket. It's always fun hanging out with other folks who enjoy photography, so we can talk about it as much as we want without boring each other. Mind you, occasionally drinking occurs as well. Here are +Jessa Peters and +Jaime Ibarra enjoying both aspects of Drink & Click at the same time.

Visiting Owl's House

I'm in the process of building new owl houses to replace the old ones, including adding a wireless web cam to one in hopes of streaming video of baby owls. In preparation for this I was going to check to make sure no owl had taken up early residence this season, when I noticed a squirrel watching me from up there. When I put up the ladder the squirrel was nowhere to be seen, but I suspected that it hadn't left. Sure enough, my camera phone verified the squirrel was still inside and none too happy with my being up there. It's going to be really unhappy when I take the house off the tree, I'd imagine.

For the second year in a row my friend has dragged me off to Dallas for the Texas vs OU game. Not a terrible tradition.

I took this when we arrived, but it's only going out now because the AT&T Cotton Bowl had no AT&T reception. Go figure.

Anyway, I had a great time, even if the final score wasn't what I hoped. Better luck next year! Hook'em Horns!

Another Back Yard Visitor

Roughly six years ago our family embarked upon the project of making our yard wildlife-friendly, using native plants and water-wise landscaping. In planning everything, my wife wanted to make sure to provide the proper plants to attract and support hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pleasant creatures. It has been, and will continue to be, a lot of work to do it all right, but the results sure are worth it. (Don't tell my wife I said so, else she'll gloat and feel perfectly justified putting me to work out there this weekend...)

My, What Long Legs You Have

Sunday afternoon I was out cutting branches off a fallen tree when my son spotted what turned out to be the largest harvestman I've ever seen. This thing was big! Often termed Daddy Long-Legs, the harvestman is an arachnid, but not a spider. Spiders are order Araneae, while harvestmen are order Opiliones. The most obvious difference looking at them is that harvestmen have a single body, whereas spiders have two separate body sections separated by a constriction. Another difference, though you have to look really close to see it, is that harvestmen have a single pair of eyes while spiders have three or four sets of eyes.

One common myth is that harvestmen are highly venomous, but their mouths are too small to bite humans. Actually, they don't have venom glands at all, and are entirely harmless. I can tell you from personal experience that this... more »

I can tell you from personal experience that this is comforting when you're climbing a cliff and the only available hold is a crevasse filled with hundreds of these things. It does feel kind of weird when they're climbing all over your arm, though.

So that's the biology lesson from my back yard for the day. I imagine I'll run across something entirely different soon, and when I do I'll try to get a picture for you. Have a great day!

Reflections On Swimming

Here's another shot from the swim meet on Saturday that I'm pretty happy with. It's impressive to me that these kids are swimming fast enough that the water out in front is still smooth enough for a reflection. They do put in a ton of time practicing, as I can attest from all the years of driving my son to practice very early in morning or home quite late in the evening. I guess it stands to reason that by this point they're getting pretty good at it.

Diving Into The New Day

My son had another swim meet this morning, so naturally I was there with my camera. I took a few hundred shots, but I knew right away that I was going to be happy with this shot of one the divers eclipsing the sun. It was a bright, clear morning, and the temperature was great. All in all a fine way to start the weekend, even if it did involve waking up a little bit earlier than I would have preferred. I hope all of you have a great weekend, too!

Along Came A Spider...

Last night my son went out to the car to get something, and on the way out noticed this little lady in the process of blocking off part of the garage door in search of dinner. I think I remember her from one of the Lord of the Rings movies. It's neat the things you find hanging around outside your house.

(Note: I am aware that +Sarah Rios and others would advocate burning down the house in response.)

Sunset At Mueller Lake

Yesterday I noticed that we had the high, thin clouds that often end up creating a spectacular sunset, and toward the evening I found myself near Mueller Lake. I decided to head over there and set up just in case the sky ended up being a brilliant array of pinks and oranges, but it didn't turn out to be the case. On the other hand, the weather was very nice and plenty of ducks and geese (and a lot of people) were out enjoying themselves. While this didn't turn out to be the shot I was hoping for, it was still a pleasant time and I'm glad I dropped by. Maybe next time will be even better!

Next-Generation Hiker Gets His Start

We went hiking this morning at Walnut Creek Park with our friends. Today was the first time I witnessed their youngest child go the whole way on his own two feet, and he wasn't waiting around, either. It's great to enjoy nature with family and friends, and having little kids around to see it all for the first time helps you remember how amazing it all is, even when you've seen it hundreds of times before.

360 Bridge Comparison

I realized after I posted the shot of the 360 Bridge yesterday, that it would be nice to have a comparison shot to see what the scene actually looked like before it was processed to remove the cars. As you can see, in addition to clearing traffic it removed the boat, and smoothed the water, trees, and clouds a bit. The things that moved a lot between all the shots disappeared entirely, while the things that just moved a little ended up smoother and blurrier. Overall I'm pleased to know how to do this, and I imagine I'll have the opportunity to do it again sometime.

In other news, I'd also never made an animated GIF before this, so I guess that's something new I've learned how to do. I think there's some room for improvement on that, though...

Gazing Over The 360 Bridge. Look, Ma, No Cars!

The Pennybacker Bridge in Austin carries Loop 360 (also known as the Capital of Texas Highway) across Lake Austin. The north side of the river along the area sports tall cliffs, through which highway engineers cut a narrow pass to accommodate the road. This left a tall rise on either side of the highway, creating excellent viewing conditions for enjoying the scenery.

One thing I've been meaning to try for a while is the process of removing moving objects from a picture by taking multiple shots and then averaging out the images to display the median pixels. In preparation for that, last time I was at the bridge I set up my camera on a tripod and took a few dozen shots as the cars zipped by below me. Last night I loaded those shots into Photoshop, and then had it stack, merge, and blend the images. It took a while, as I probably... more »

It took a while, as I probably used too many pictures, but eventually out popped this shot of the bridge with the hundreds of cars (and a few boats) removed. Overall I'm pretty happy with the result, and look forward to using the technique in the future to create more interesting results.___

A Pleasant Resting Spot

I was out for a walk at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center here in Austin on Sunday afternoon, and stopped by one of the little streams running through it. This delightful little waterfall made the most soothing splashing noise. If only I'd had a hammock I could have happily taken a nap right there by the trail.

The Amazing Bumble Bee

It amazes me how much of our ecosystem depends on pollination by bees. They just fly around doing their thing, and as a result they keep all the plants reproducing. I'm always impressed with how natural systems are both complex and beautiful. This little guy flies around harvesting from flowers, and the net result is that there are future generations of the flowers from which future generations of bees can harvest. As a happy by-product, I get a beautiful scene to enjoy and photograph.

Service With A Smile

The other day I stopped for lunch and didn't want to leave my camera in the car, so I brought it in with me. The young lady who brought me my lunch liked the camera and chatted about her interest in photography. As I was getting ready to go she asked if I would take her picture, and I was happy to do so.

Dive On In

I attended my son's swim meet yesterday morning, which was notably cooler than the past couple of months on account of a cold front that blew in the night before. Fortunately the rain stayed away long enough for the meet, and then poured on down most of the rest of the day. As I may have mentioned, we can certainly use the rain.

I did think to bring my camera to the meet and took a few pictures here and there. I like the way this shot of one of the divers turned out with the background treeline, and thought I'd share it with you. I hope all of you are having a great weekend!

Puff The Magic Hummingbird

I was out taking some more hummingbird pictures yesterday, and noticed this little guy guarding one of the feeders. Whenever another one would fly near he would puff up all his feathers to look bigger, and if the newcomer didn't leave he would then fly up and chase them off. Of course, while he was off chasing one others would come over for a drink, but I guess he can't be everywhere at once. It's neat how even these little guys have distinct personalities, isn't it?

Enjoying A Quick Siesta

The annual hummingbird migration is gathering in the Austin area in preparation for the trek south to the coast and then on to Mexico, and our back yard is humming with activity. Yesterday evening my wife and I sat out back with a neighbor and we all watched the little birds flit around arguing over their favorite feeders and plants. They are a delight to watch.

This one little guy liked sitting on this spot to watch a nearby feeder, and he'd zoom in to chase off others who got near it. At one point my wife noticed his head starting to dip like he was going to fall asleep and pointed it out to us. Sure enough, he took a quick nap right there before popping back up to defend his territory. I was lucky enough to get a shot of him resting. It's a brief, peaceful moment in an otherwise fast-moving flurry of activity.

This Sky Even Makes A Cement Plant Look Good!

Also while I was out and about yesterday, I took this shot of a cement plant (concrete plant?) at a quarry near Austin. The sky was really nice yesterday, wasn't it? Today we're supposed to have a cold front blowing through, so highs are only going to be in the lower 90s for the next few days. We may even get some rain! Presumably the sky won't be quite this pretty for that, I suppose, but rain will be worth it. We need every drop we can get around here these days.

The Changing Austin Skyline

I was driving past a good spot today and the clouds looked pretty nice so I thought I'd stop and snap a shot to share with you all. Austin's skyline used to be really low and flat, but in the past few years taller and taller buildings are starting to crop up downtown. It's starting to get a distinctive shape to it, I think. Given all the cranes sticking up above it, I expect it'll change even more over the next year. Soon we'll be a grown-up city, for better or for worse.

Help Defend Net Neutrality!

September 10 is the Internet Slowdown, a combined effort of concerned web site operators to illustrate the potential devastating effect of the FCC's proposed changes to Network Neutrality. If you enjoy equal access to whatever web site you choose to access on the bandwidth you pay for, rather than fast access only to the sites that pay hefty fees to your provider and slowdowns for every other site, then take a minute to lend your voice in support of maintaining Net Neutrality.

If you have a web site of your own, they provide simple tools for adding a banner or popup once per visitor to help illustrate the issue. Please consider helping out to blanket the Internet with the appearance of a slowdown to help us all avoid being saddled with the real thing, forever.
