Once Upon A Time - New Magazine Project - Test Shots

The previous couple of months have been difficult.  I've managed somehow to move forward, to find a space that has allowed me to reconcile (the best I can) the losses.  I've come to understand the vacancy left behind when loved ones are gone from our lives is never really filled.  The hole just scabs over and scar tissue develops.  Healing takes time... on many different levels.  To +Brad Buckmaster +John G Moore +Josep-Maria Robert +Jacco van Koll +Jim Moore +Roni Delmonico +Bill Franklin and the many others who took the time from their lives to check in on mine...  Thank You... each of you.  From my heart to yours, please know your concern helped me to move through much.  I appreciate each of you and your special kindness.

Heading Home - Upon The Wings of Angels

(This angel hangs on my wall, by my front door.  It is a plaster sculpture I've cherished for many years.  I leave it by the door for all those who enter and leave; that they be loved and protected for all of their days!) 

"and God Said: Trust unto me.  Rest ye weary hearts that my angels shall carry you forward and bring you home unto me."

Homeward bound is my son-in-law.  Angels met him yesterday afternoon.  Their wings enveloped his soul and carried him away, releasing him from his suffering and his pain. At 3:34 pm (est) the final good-bye pressed against his heart and he slipped the bonds of earth to begin his journey home.  Now our journey of healing will begin. But for now, tears are falling, hearts are breaking and, dreams have been shattered... so many dreams.

A Time To Say Good-Bye

I started to compose this post on my iPad this morning.  I became too frustrated, only because I'm not all that familiar with using my iPad yet, so I opted to use my new laptop, which is equally frustrating because it came loaded with Windows 8, which I can't seem to figure out yet!  There... how's that for a long drawn out sentence?

And speaking of "long", this post has the potential to be just that.  So if you're a person that doesn't particularly care for such enjoy the image and I will not take it personally.

New Work - Simply Boudoir - Soft - Monochrome Edit

Happy Saturday G+ World!  Nope..I'm NOT in the studio this weekend!  What to do with myself?  LOL...  Spend some time here catching up with everyone posts!  (If that's really possible?) 

Here's another image from my last session.  Yes, this is the same young lady!  Different looks!

One of the things I learned from this last session is the importance of understanding what it is a client is "looking" for in their images and, what it is they "expect"!  There is a huge difference between the two!  I'll be putting up a blog about this and more in the next few days.  I'll share the my blog link with everyone as usual.

New Work - Boudoir Session - Monochrome Edit

Happy Friday Everyone!  Happy St. Patty's Day a few days early!  I hope those who will be celebrating this weekend will be careful and mindful!  Spring is nearly here!

Here's a monochrome edit from my most recent boudoir session.  I'm enjoying these sessions in so many ways!  I'm really enjoying seeing the look on my client's face when they get their "sneak peek" of the images.  Most every client can't believe who they're viewing is truly themselves.  It's a great feeling for me to see a client pleased, excited and happy!  This is perhaps one of the best aspects of this business!

New Work - Tiger, Tiger Sittin' There!

Here is another from my session this past Sunday.  I'm very fond of the attitude and the overall general mood in this image!  I asked the model to get in touch with her "tiger" self, the best she could.  I didn't think the pose she selected was the most flattering to her.  I changed it up.  I put her in this pose instead.  As soon as I did...  in my mind I heard: Tiger, Tiger.  What do you think, tiger or, just another innocent kitty cat?

Actually, I had a very good reason for posing this model this way.  This young lady is barely five three inches tall.  But you would be hard pressed to put her at such a small stature while viewing this image.  Bringing her to the very edge of the bench, putting her body into an A shape, M shape and linear line V shape added the illusion of height and length. Having he... more »

All About Emily - Color Rendition

When a shoot comes together that causes me the "happy" dance, I'm on cloud nine for a few days!  Emily looks as though she's floating on a cloud all her own!
Sunday's shoot was everything fantastic and more!  Incredible images were created and I couldn't be more pleased!

In Her Eyes - Krystal-Lynn - Monochrome

It's been awhile since I've been here.  Life has been exceedingly demanding.  I've not had the time to spend here.  I've not even had the time to make a quick post to let everyone know I'm still alive!  

Like so many others as of late, my time here is most definitely limited.  I'm pushing very hard, with long hours for my photography business.  Marketing, websites, more marketing and scheduling studio sessions.  I'm also in the middle of yet another magazine project.  This project is no small ordeal.  I'm pushing my creativity to an edge with this one.  I only hope I can pull it off!

Just Rachael - Bear-Less Series

I was hoping to have an entirely different set of images to share this week as a result from yesterday's studio session.  Unfortunately, I don't.  Yesterday's session was a difficult one.  As of late I've been working with "curvy" gals in an attempt to broaden my abilities and ultimately be able to offer services to a wider range of women.  Photographing curvy gals presents challenges, especially if you want to be able to offer finished images the clients; images the client will love and ultimately want to purchase!

Curvy gals require different lighting.  Lighting that's used for Beauty/Fashion isn't easily applied to curvy gals.  It's always best to use directional lighting so a photographer can sculpt the client's figure.  Directional lighting can be harsh.  Directional lighting is particular. Direct... more »

Bear-Less - Just Rachael

There are times in photography where it's good to break rules; rules of composition, color, exposure and so forth.  Breaking the rules pushes the envelop of creative expression.  But as with all things there are also times when things must remain in balance.  When things are in balance harmony is more likely to be achieved. 
 
The very first things I learned when I began portrait photography was the importance of eye contact, the subject to the camera.  Always make sure there is a direct connection with my subject in my camera's viewfinder before I trip that shutter.  Equally it's been impressed upon me to study carefully the clarity of focus, especially on my subject's eyes.  To this day both of these "rules" remain at the top of my list of things to pay attention to, every time I raise my camera to my eye!  You wouldthink af... more »

Bed Time Story - "A Bearlievable Fairy Tale"
Part Two

Rachael (+Rachael Keresey ) patiently listened to Fuzzy for what felt like days... (It wasn't really.  We were only in the studio for four hours!)
He chatted on and on about the very important roles
his famous relatives have played through out history...
Fuzzy told Rachael about the many tales passed down
from other Teddy Bears as the two sat quietly upon the floor.

(You should know...when Teddy Bears are sitting on store shelves 
waiting for their new owners to come along... they quite frequently pass the time by talking amongst themselves.  Of course they do so after the store is closed and, all the lights have all gone out!)

Fuzzy spoke softly to his damsel:

Once upon a time... (in the year 2013)
in a land far, far away...
(an alien place called "Syracuse")
There lived a very lucky Teddy Bear named Fuzzy.
And Fuzzy was (and is ) VERY lucky indeed...
because he belonged to (and still does) a darlin' damsel 
name Rachael.
One day while Fuzzy was eating his porridge...
just before his bedtime...
He told his damsel Rachael (+Rachael Keresey ) that someday he would like to be famous..
After all, he had famous relatives; cousins and more cousins,
and cousins he didn't even personally know.
Fuzzy said:  "I want to be just like them.. Very Famous!"

Just Rachael - Bear-less

Part of the purpose for this shoot with Rachael was to have an opportunity to work with more "real" body shaped women; you know, the gals with the curves!  Rachael is definitely a curvy gal whose curves are just too darn cute!  You know there are some women that just have that quality about them; their little in stature, they carry a thicker, denser muscle structure and somehow they manage to have the impact of fresh sensuality!  Yup... that just about sums up Rachael!

Bear Naked - Rachael

When most men think of boudoir photography for women, they think of imagery such as that created by +Thorn Button !   I can't blame them, really.  Thorn's work is brilliant.  But there is another side to boudoir photography.  There is a playful side, an innocent side.  Boudoir is a really a frame of mind and attitude. Boudoir doesn't necessarily mean to be completely nekkid either!  There's the "Bear" naked version!  

Boudoir is about form, implication, mood and so much more!  And just as there are so many different moods and emotions... the variety of women is just as diverse.  Not every woman can pull off having a teddy bear as a bed companion!

For the past several weeks I've been working on my new website.  I'm not great at this kind of stuff but I'm willing to give it my best shot... every pun intended.  I gave up on the WordPress template that I paid $65.00 for when I had no clue how to go in and work with the php code.  I needed something simpler!  

After watching +Scott Kelby's show #thegrid  with +Matt Kloskowski (which was came as a very strong recommendation from +Roni Delmonico ) I found the solution I was looking for... Squarespace!

My site is not yet completed. However... it is getting closer.  I'm in the process of pouring through tons of images, selecting only the best while trying to write material for several pages.

Earlier last year I posted some of the images from the session with Corinne titled AVATAR.  This shoot was a special shoot for me because I really got to use my Theatrical Make Up Skills.  When Corinne had sat down in my chair for the second time this day,  I just had this vision in my mind and I somehow knew her face could pull this off.  I was so happy to follow my instincts and that good old reliable "gut".

I'm in my "clean up the hard drive mode".  I have ten external hard drives.  All of them are full.  I've just added a 3TB Seagate external.  My office area has a dedicated section for all of these drives, which are connected to a very large usb hub station, which is connected to a switch box, which in turn allows me to change ports for whichever computer needs access to the drives.  You know, I thought I was a photographer.  However lately I feel more like a techno geek!  Sometimes I wonder if this passion of mine isn't just a tad bit out of control!

Well 2013 has started with a big bang for me!  Cloud Orchid Magazine (+Bryan Thompson +Little Alice and others) launched their first, debut issue on January 1st.  I was thrilled and honored to see so many of my images  featured!  What a wonderful way to begin a new photographic year for me!

The Beauty of The Season - Makenzie Burr

When I preview a young model's portfolio, especially an inexperienced model, ninety nine percent of the time I find myself viewing just horrible images. Most of these images come from very inexperienced photographers; the "GWC's".  (And before anyone becomes upset with this statement allow me to clarify my point here.  There's nothing wrong with "GWC's.  After all each of us who take this craft seriously started out as one ourselves. And for those who aren't sure what "GWC's stands for: Guys/Gals With Camera!)

Makenzie Burr - Beauty - Special Edit

I took advantage of the time I had to spend with Makenzie.  She drove from over an hour away from the studio location for her session with me.  And though she definitely is willing to come back to the studio, traveling distance is something to be taken into consideration, especially this time of year.  So while I had her in the studio I wanted to get as much out of her as possible.  

When Makenzie contacted me she expressed a desire for some beauty close up work.  When she walked through the door on Sunday I knew there was no way I was letting her out of the studio without doing such.  What a face!  Porcelain skin, bright clear eyes, perfect lips and a personality that lights up a room... kind of like an angel lights up our spirits!

Christmas Blessing - A Tiny Angel

As of now these bonded pair of dogs have no where to go as their owner weakens from end-stage lung cancer. Life is hard for our four-legged friends, too. Lucky and Micky are 5 and 8, and It would devastate them to lose him and each other at the same time.

Publication Project Update!  Final Sessions Completed!
Sunday - November 11th, 2012

Next Step ... Final Edits!

First and foremost.... GREAT big, huge hugs and thank you's to each of you for your patience, your support and of course, your amazing friendship to me throughout this entire project!  Each of you really make a wonderful difference in my life!  I couldn't be more grateful!

There's one more step to go now... the editing!  This is not going to be an easy task; not because of the volume of images.  But rather because of the so many quality images that have been generated. Selecting the best is going to take a critical eye.  This means leaving aside the emotional response on my part!  Oh and this is not always an easy thing for me to do!  And we all know how excited and emotional I get over the imagery!

Happy Tuesday!  Election Day!  I'm not going to engage in a political discussion but rather express to everyone ... get out and vote!  There!  That's all I'm saying!

Cassandra is just too darned smokin' hot sexy, don't ya think?  This look fits her perfectly!  And this was fun, playing with the glasses!  She had a great time! Glasses can be a very sexy little item to add into a session, especially if the model can work with them!  I assure you, Cassie didn't need much instruction!

Cassandra Ramsden - Publication Project - Test Session - Color Rendition

Happy Monday Morning G+ World!  Fall is in full force here in the Northeast!  It's chilly, damp and gloomy!  But there's nothing cold about Cassandra!  This is one hot chick!  This is another of the test session results.  I can't wait to see the final results with all the backgrounds in place and, the location set results!  Just thinking about the happy dances makes me smile!

+Roni Delmonico has been invited to return for the final session for the magazine project!  Everyone encourage her to join +Bob Jones and myself!  She's been in the studio for this session.  Now let's see if we can get her to join us on location as we put together the final images!

Cassandra Ramsden - Test Session - Publication Project - The Final Model

The test sessions are finally finished!  It has been a very long audition process.  So much has gone into this project.  It's difficult to even explain all the necessary preparations.  I'm so incredibly proud of the entire team. Their dedication, their talents, their selflessness and even more, for their belief and support in what I do and, what I bring to the table.  There is no amount of money in the world that compares to the value of dedicated hearts and spirits.  I am blessed and I am fortunate, to say the least.  I am equally grateful as well.

Roni Delmonica - Studio Visit - Hangout Host
October 28th, 2012 - Syracuse, New York

Well... It was a day indeed!  G+'s very own +Roni Delmonico spent the day at Belle Facce Studio with myself and +Bob Jones !  Roni is certainly a joy and a treasure!  It was wonderful having her there with all of us!  Roni so graciously helped to host our live hangout!  Because of Roni we had a wonderful group of interested people sharing some time with us this afternoon!  

Roni was like a kid in the candy store!  From the minute she walked in the door her eyes were lit up like lights on a Christmas tree!  She was just sparklin' and twinklin' away!  She instantly made me smile and I felt as though I've known her all my life!  Of course she came equipped with a ton of questions!  She equally made herself right at home with everyone!

Mallory Otis - Test Session - Publication Project - Color Rendition

Well I've managed to get on shot edited from the last test session!  There are so many to finish going through.  This particular image is from the second set that was done with Mallory.  This is from the glamour session.  As soon as I get caught up with all the selections I'll post a few from the alternative session as well!  There's such a stark difference between both session... which is perfect!  I needed to see if this young woman could pull off more than one look.  She did.. Beautifully!

Final Monochrome Edits of Natalie Teale - Publication Test Shoot

Well, Sunday's test shoot was another successful afternoon!  Yes, we did broadcast the session on a G+Hangout but there wasn't a large audience.  And it's okay that there weren't many folks attending.  I was so focused (every pun intended) on working with the model I wasn't in a position to spend anytime actively in the hangout session.

We're still planning on broadcasting this coming Sunday - October 28th, 2012.  And here's a reminder:  +Roni Delmonico is going to be in the studio with me and +Bob Jones !  So I plan on putting Roni into the emcee post for the hangout for awhile so she can get comfortable before I put her in front of the camera!

Morning G+ World!  It's a glorious day here in upstate New York!  Sun is shinning, bright blue skies, puffy white clouds and very warm temperatures.  In the mean time however, things are starting to "heat" up in the studio.  We are almost ready to start out our G+ Live Hangout - "Live Studio Broadcast"!

So many of my G+ Circle friends have expressed a desire to either be in the studio with us or would love to see what it is that we do!  So I came up with this idea to broadcast a Live Hangout for everyone!  

There is no charge for this and everyone is welcome!  We won't be able to interact with you right away.  We do have a job to do while we are here!  However, when the model is ready for a break or set change we will be here to share with you what we have done and how we have done it!

Publication Test Session - Monochrome Edit

I've edited only one image in B/W.  I'm such a huge fan of the color versions that I didn't feel propelled to convert any of the images with the exception of this one.  It works with this one!  There's an entirely different feeling to this in monochrome.  (Soft Sepia really)

So for all my circle friends who are monochrome fans... here you go!  Lily in Monochrome!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  Back to studio tomorrow for another round of test sessions!  Yeppers... We will be doing a G+ Live Hangout.  Start looking for the hangout to air around noon.  And Yes, next weekend as well when +Roni Delmonico will be a guest in the studio, we will also be broadcasting!  Going to be a lot of fun!

Publication Test Session - Final Edits (Color)

Finally... I have finished the remainder of the edits from last weekend's session!  There were so many glorious images!  This was indeed a very fun time!

Oh, and I realized I never mentioned as to whether or not this young lady was selected to be one of the models for the final session!  Yes indeed she has been selected!  How in the world could I NOT select her?  

Sunday is the next round.  Originally there were two models scheduled to test.  At the last minute (arrggg... I really don't like it when models do this!) the model scheduled for the first time slot has cancelled.  I have been able to reschedule the second model to fill the first time slot space!  

So.. we will still be broadcasting our live G+Hangout on Sunday!  I know some of you have said you're not going to be available forthis week... more »
