Just watched a clip of Jack Black doing the weather on TVNZ's "Breakfast" on Monday, May 20.
It was generally pretty bad but picked up momentarily when Black forecast the weather for "what the Whakatane"......

The National party is killing democracy in Auckland by having the government in Wellington take active control of transport and housing.
It doesn't matter who you vote for.....you're getting a National Party policy setting.
Sorry 'Blue' voters....you need to know what your champions are up to:
If you don't like it, don't shoot the messenger.

Inspired by Roger Maddy.....
This interleaved image is a screen shot....so if you can see interleaved 3D images on your 3D PC monitor or Internet-connected 3D TV.....give it a try. :-)

I have had a phones on both Telecom and Vodafone for the past 2 years. I live on the North Shore in the Auckland area.
My everyday experience where I live and work is that Telecom have the MUCH better network.
Fewer black spots.
Fewer periods where my phone just isn't connected for data
Fewer problems moving between cell stations (for data).
With Vodafone, I find my data connection is unreliable where I work. Along Sunset Road, between the Northern Motorway and Glenfield Road, I can't even keep phone call going (on foot....not driving). There is, effectively, a 20 minute black spot when walking between these two points on Vodafone. But no problems with Telecom.
Driving from Beach Haven to Birkenhead, I will lose data connection on my vodafone phone and I must stop and start the mobile network on my phone to get it to re-connect. No prob... more »

It certainly looked like tornado weather this afternoon in Auckland...and so it was.

"Neazor" is short form for white wash, it seems.
The 2003 law was absolutely clear. There was no ambiguity.
"Restrictions imposed on interceptions"
"14 Interceptions not to target domestic communications
Neither the Director, nor an employee of the Bureau, nor a person acting on behalf of the Bureau may authorise or take any action for the purpose of intercepting the communications of a person (not being a foreign organisation or a foreign person) who is a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident."
This is proof the oversight of the GCSB is and always has been non-existent as far as protecting the rights of Kiwis is concerned.
Justice Neazor should be ashamed of himself for buying into the "ambiguous law" lie.

Here's a great reason to build a rail line to the airport: It takes a lot of cars off the roads and reduces congestion...and at the same time makes it a lot faster and easier to get to the airport....even if the train loops through built-up areas and doesn't proceed in a straight line.
****************************
Why does Toronto need a train between the airport and downtown?
The Union Pearson Express will address a significant gap in airport-to-downtown travel in Toronto. Each year an estimated five million cars travel between downtown Toronto and Toronto Pearson. With this number expected to grow to nine million by 2020, the Union Pearson Express is expected to remove 1.2 million car trips in its first year of operation, while offering a critical transit alternative for quick and easy access to Toronto’s downtown core and Toronto Pearson.
