Better late than never! I got the opportunity to join the mentorship program for photographers with +Sairam Sundaresan but haven't been active enough.  

For the week one lesson, I decided to move completely into Manual mode, since I was already comfortable enough with the AV one. Initial few days were pure hell! Now I am getting some hang of it and things looks brighter for the future. 

Histograms generally came into picture for me only in the post processing phase. Now I realize it makes much more sense to start early and get it right in the box. It does take a few tries to get it right, but it worth the time spent.

BTW, what's up with the album share in Google+? I had trouble uploading the photo to a specific album and then just sharing it, like it used to happen before. Any tips on the best way to do it now? 

Here is my Mitsubishi Outlander, the first good looking SUV I ever saw. I instantly fell in love with this thing. Sure, now it looks rather ordinary, but it started a new trend of not-beastly off-roaders.

Kneel before me

Phone camera's give some interesting wide angle perspectives when you are very close to the subject. This is especially useful in case of automobiles :) 

Here is a Chevrolet Cruze, one of the hottest sedans around here. It is one of the few cars worthy of the Chevrolet badge.

Reflections

Here we stand again on the eve of another #fourwheeledfriday, and I’m rearmed with some fresh new photos, thanks to a show this past weekend.

This is a shot of a convertible Mercury Cougar being reflected in the shiny chrome hubcap on a Pre-WWII Ford Deluxe. The Ford Deluxe was considered a business coupe, often used by salesmen as they drove door to door to sell their products. The Mercury Cougar, was a muscle car hiding under the guise of a slightly tamed sedan.

It’s a tale of two cars, coming from two totally different eras. However they were born with the same heritage, Ford and Mercury.

I bought this!

In the month of April, I took part in the AtoZ challenge. It was really really fun, but taxing on the head. Since I have a lot of head, I have now taken up the May photo a day challenge!

Break me

These are the bangles worn by newly wed brides in North of India, called Chuda. After a certain amount of time, the lady would remove them and tie them up to a sacred tree for good fortune. You can see hundreds of such trees bent with the weight, but they look beautiful.

All curled up

On my last trip to home, I stayed there for 2 weeks. I didn't go anywhere, meet anybody, do anything, just rested all day while being fed delicacies of myriad varieties. 

Curiously, I only get this treatment now, when I go home twice a year. When I lived there things were quite different :) 

Times change so quickly.

Some of you might be aware that I have been interested in blogging and creative writing lately. On the lines of the "Scavenger Hunt", there is a blogging idea called A to Z challenge. This Saturday I would be leaving for my bi-yearly pilgrimage for home. I hope to capture some decent shots during this trip, really need some fresh material! Made the sane decision to go by flight and not by train like last time. 

In other news, my third article got published on +Faking News . Another proof that I don't know anything about anything, I was unhappy with this script, didn't find it funny at all. Now that it's published it has become the most popular thing I ever did!

Chevelle Day

I declare this Chevelle Day and for that reason I believe everyone should take the day off to celebrate. Yea, right! I hear my boss banging on my front door and dragging me to work.

Well, this is photo of a 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS I photographed last summer. Post-processing was done in Adobe Lightroom 4 and Silver Efex Pro 2. Added to Black & White album.

Love

People love to be shot, just freaking love it. Whenever I make the mistake of taking my camera to office, I am surrounded by people forcing me to take a pic. They strike weird, often hilarious poses and ask me to click. I hate portrait photography.

My first publication!

Today my first article on +Faking News got published. Think of +Faking News as +The Onion of India, it is a wildly popular satire blog. However, posting such an article that makes fun of politicians is a rather dangerous thing to do here, I am not entirely comfortable sitting in my home. Instances are there where people were arrested just for liking a Facebook post or sharing it, sedition charges were slapped on a cartoonist and articles critical of one businessman were blocked by court order recently. But you gotta do what you gotta do!

Contrast

A different share for this #fourwheeledfriday  . The contrast might have looked even more stark if there was a Merc standing there, but there is only so much you can do.

Tomorrow is the grand opening of the blog me and my friend +AYUSH CHAUHAN have setup. We were having trouble keeping it under wraps while work was in progress, that's the power of Word Press, I never had this much fun on Blogspot, ever. Cliche

This is my team. I am on the left, Vishal - the body builder, Nivedita - the excel queen, Girish - the team lead, Saji - the south indian and Ganesh - the DBA.

We all cleared the ITIL certification together and wanted a picture that would say it. What better than the most cliched shot in such a situation!

Last few days have been amazingly hectic! This Monday I did something that I always dreaded to do: DANCE! A few of my colleagues prepared a routine to audition for our company's annual day. I went with them to photograph but ended up on the stage.

It all started with one of the key members not showing up, I just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. First I was told its just a few steps. Then I was told I would have ro wear a dhoti, a traditional Indian pant cum pyjama that likes to come off quite quickly.

Then came the bombshell, I had to take my shirt and vest off! I am skinny, Christian Bale in The Machinist skinny, so naturally this did not entice me much. More so because my role in the dance was of the god of wealth and prosperity, Ganesha. He is supposed to have a huge belly and eat and be massive in size, completely unlike me.

Together

Sometime back I went to this garden with the prospect of shooting some landscapes. I expected it to be empty, but it had quite a few walkers. 

Not sure how many of your feel this, but I find it extremely hard to shoot when an entire crowd is watching you. I took this shot rather timidly and then finally had to pack my stuff and go back home. 

Did give me some time to just sit there and do nothing. It's funny, I haven't done nothing in so long, it felt really good!

Party Time! Not..

Thanks to all of your wishes, I did clear the exam today! But not many reasons to celebrate, here is why:

1. Passing score was 700 out of 1000, I scored, you guessed it, 700! On the dot.
2. 2 of my friends, one of them much more experienced than me, flunked! All hell broke loose today.

It was like college all over again, the whole night study, the anxiety, the "out of syllabubs" questions and the sadness over your friends failures. I hope it had turned out well, but nothing you can do!

Wide Smile

 I know I have been AWOL for too long. Like I said before, work pressure has increased too quickly. But I found something, in life you will always need to find time for your passions and hobbies, if something ain't your profession, it gets sidelined easily. 

So I need to make time, no matter what. To keep my lazy ass working, I will start another 365 project this year. I do not want to just post photos, I am looking for a twist. I do not know what I will be, but I will keep looking. If you have some ideas, hit me up! 

So this #fourwheeledfriday  , here is my humble Honda Civic. This car is special in every way, but just not meant for the Indian roads. The low ground clearance makes it a pain to drive around.

I Am Alive

Yes I have not posted anything in 10 days and do not have much to post for the coming few days as well. Work pressures have increased tremendously and I just cannot find the time to be with your people.

Seems to be an advantage of NOT being a Pro photographer, I shoot and share without any monetary strings attached, so until there is an artistic need to post a photo, it does not get posted. 

In other news, I recently got ITIL Certified, so that's something to be happy about! Working on a personal blog as well. Things look bright and lively for future.
