I safely arrived in Nadi, Fiji yesterday morning. I could have lived without the excitement of the 2.5 hour wait for my bags when the baggage carousel broke down, but at least all of my equipment arrived safely. I spent the last 24 hours in my hotel room catching up on my sleep and email. In just a few more hours a taxi will pick me up and take me to the Nai'a. I am excited for my 10 day scuba diving expedition to begin!

This past Saturday, I had the honor of being one of the keynote speakers at the Northwest Dive & Travel Expo in Tacoma. I reunited with some old friends and met some new. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting underwater photographer extraordinaire Amos Nachoum. Amos has a somewhat unflattering reputation, but he was nothing but courteous, charming, supportive, and enthusiastic during our time together.

I also had the privilege of meeting Scott West and his daughter Elora. Scott volunteers with Sea Shepherd. He lead Sea Shepherd's Cove Guardians in Taiji, Japan during the 2011-2012 season. Elora also joined him for much of that season. I thanked them for their commitment to ending this brutal dolphin slaughter.

I just read that Pixar has finally announced a sequel to "Finding Nemo" called "Finding Dory". I'm really excited about it, since the original was not only one of my daughters favorite movies, but also one of mine. Here is a link to an article about the announcement, plus an article about the ecological impact that the first movie had on coral reefs due to overzealous fish collecting.
