Mykal Hall510,735+101145980349117737014 and +115105647022907007398 are here in Australia for a workshop in Port Stephens hosted by +111465359080289844494 on the 3-5 Jan 2014. I have twisted their arms to do a photowalk here in +104262770460851770269 on the 11 January 2014.  So lets show our guest the welcome the Sydney Photo Community has to offer.  We will meet on the steps in front of the Sydney Opera House at 6.30pm and slowly make our way to Hickson Rd Reserve for sunset and then to the end point at Observatory Hill by 9pm. I have plotted a few photo opportunity locations along the route as well as public toilets that I know of. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zw_eAURDDMag.kLJfMBZmQ50o  There are plenty of food outlets to grab a quick bite to eat at Circular Quay for the journey. I have walked the route in 1hr 40mins at a leisurely pace but you may want to stay at one location longer if you desire. That will be fine as long as we all get together at the start to greet Jay and Varina and then at the end point to say our goodbyes. Then afterwards if you still feel in the mood to chat over a drink we will be heading to The Hero of Waterloo (if there is only a small group) or the Harbour View Hotel (if there are more than the Hero can fit). I recommend catching public transport to Circular Quay or Town Hall but if you drive in there are a few parking stations within a short walk to the Opera House. I suggest downloading the "Cheap Parking App" from the Google playstore or iTunes. This will give you pricing options from closest or cheapest and links to get to them. I hope everyone has a great time during the walk socialising and remember you can approach Jay, Varina and myself at anytime to ask any questions. Please share this with anyone you may know who would want to join us. :)))  Looking forward to see you all and don't forget the hash tag #PatelSydneyPhotowalk +107073852799630124249 Jay and Varina Patel Sydney Photowalk2014-01-11 18:30:00141

paradigmblue8,282  Welcome to ParadigmShift #7 - my RAW file editing experiment on G+ :) It's been a long time since paradigmshift #6 so I think it's about time we unleash with #7.  Breaking my wrist in two places and sporting an increasingly smelly plaster cast is getting me down.  So I'm kinda relying of you people to brighten up my day by seeing what you come up with in paradigmshift #7. This time I'm offering 3 bracketed images from a shoot I did after work one day in Glenelg, South Australia.  It was just early spring and the thermometer was pushing 30 degrees Celsius so I booked myself an apartment by the beach in hoping I'd get some awesome shots of the sun setting over the water.   And Glenelg didn't disappoint.  Check out my portfolio at SmugMug site here: http://paradigmblue.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Glenelg This particular set of images was underneath the Glenelg Jetty as the sun set over the waters and is quickly becoming one of my favourite shots.  So I want to open it up to all of you to edit :) Details are: Filter: ND4 Shutter speed was 10, 6 & 20 seconds ISO: 320 F /11 Shot on a Canon 6D (17-40mm) - focal length @ 36mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW files (linked below).  As always, I look forward to your edits.  Please play by the rules :) The Rules Step 1 Share this event to your public stream.  Failure to do so will result in your image being removed. Step 2 If I'm not in your circles, add me -@116923280194426907545  Step 3 Sign into #ParadigmShift #7 with a short comment  Step 4 Download the straight out of the camera RAW files from the link below and edit to your liking.  The only restriction is to avoid Photoshop and create a composite image Step 5 Add your edit to the event by entering a comment and clicking on the camera icon to the right of the comment dialogue box.  You are free to enter multiple edits into the event. Step 6 Show your appreciation to others by +1'ing and commenting on their work.  It's all about having a bit of fun. Please note: 1. I still retain ownership of copyright on the images as I took them :) 2.  Please don't provide a link to the original RAW files in your posts. 3.  And in the words of @116009459840268115761  "it's worth reiterating that this is not to establish the right or wrong way of treating and image, but more an exercise in exploring how different individuals would interpret the treatment of an image." - Couldn't have said it better - so I won't :) The event is good to go as you're reading this so don't wait and get to it!  Ends on Sunday 01/12/2013 @ 9:00pm Australian Eastern Time and the RAW files will be deleted. And most importantly have fun!  Be sure to add peeps who contribute to this into your circles - they're all awesome :) RAW FILES FOLDER: http://goo.gl/W7xqdLParadigmshift #72013-11-25 08:00:0071

paradigmblue8,282Welcome to #ParadigmShift #6 For #ParadigmShift #6 I'm sharing with you guys another one of my favourite images.  Back in early June, I was fortunate enough to be in Sydney on a week long work conference.  This just happened to tie in with the Vivid Sydney 2013 Festival.  For two weeks, the world renown Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge were lit up with all kinds of lights - it was a spectacular sight and event to attend.  I was really happy that I was able to escape at night on a few occasions after work and capture this event.  For my pics, visit my website here:  http://www.paradigmblue.org/website/portfolio/vivid-sydney/ After doing this for awhile, I decided to cross over the Harbour and venture out to the less crowded side at Milsons Point in North Sydney and look back towards the city.  It was so nice and peaceful on this side and the view was spectacular.  So I wanted to capture this feeling by taking an image directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and capture some of the skyline.  And it's this image that will feature in #ParadigmShift #6 This #ParadigmShift will be different from others as it's a long exposure night shot - light is a scarce commodity with his image and it's what you'll do with it that'll make it pop!  I'll post the before and after shot below and you'll see that I opted for a crop guided by the rule of thirds.  As for you, do whatever floats your boat! Other details are: Filter: ND4 Shutter: 151 secs ISO: 100 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (24-105mm) - focal length @ 28mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below).  As always, I look forward to your edits.  Please play by the rules :) The Rules Step 1 Share this event to your public stream.  Failure to do so will result in your image being removed. Step 2 If I'm not in your circles, add me - @116923280194426907545  Step 3 Sign into #ParadigmShift #6 with a short comment  Step 4 Download the straight out of the camera RAW file from the link below and edit to your liking.  The only restriction is to avoid Photoshop and create a composite image Step 5 Add your edit to the event by entering a comment and clicking on the camera icon to the right of the comment dialogue box.  You are free to enter multiple edits into the event. Everyone of all skill levels is welcome… as usual with my PhotoWALKS it does not matter what type of camera you have, even your smart phone will do the trick! #G+2yearanniversary SYDNEY G+ 2 year anniversary Worldwide PhotoWALK2013-06-28 22:00:0046
paradigmblue8,282Welcome to #ParadigmShift #5 For #ParadigmShift #5 I'm sharing with you guys one of my favourite images I recently shot.  Last weekend I did an impromptu short photo walk at a South Melbourne Pier and then ventured off to St Kilda Pier in Melbourne, Australia. See all my pics here:  http://www.paradigmblue.org/website/portfolio/sth-melbourne-st-kilda/ I found St Kilda Pier fascinating  - not so much being on the actual pier, which was a little boring, but the scenery around the base of the pier - especially the rock platform running parallel along the pier.  One thing that struck me was how long St Kilda Pier actually is - it's huge! It got me thinking about embarking on a project to photograph all of Melbourne's beautiful bay beaches.  Now that would be awesome!! If only I had the time :) Anyway, for #ParadigmShift #5, I'll actually publish below the untouched RAW straight out of the camera for all to see.  As usual, get rid of the dust!  You'll find the RAW pretty much over exposed in the sky - but post production will fix that in a jiffy :) Other details are: Filter: ND400 Shutter: 31 secs ISO: 50 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (17-40mm) - focal length @ 17mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below).  As always, I look forward to your edits.  Please play by the rules :) The Rules Step 1 Share this event on your public stream.  Click on the "Share Event" button in the upper right corner of the event.  My goal is for all your circles to know about this and participate if they're interested.  If the above is not done and your image is submitted into the event, I have grounds to delete it.  That sounds harsh I know - but I want this thing to grow and get out there.  It's a small thing to do for access to a RAW file to edit and submit. Step 2 If I'm not in your circles, add me :)   Step 3 Go nuts and edit, crop, process, HDR, monochrome - whatever floats your boat. Bring out the best of the image according to how you see it.  But try to steer clear of using Photoshop to merge the image with others.   Step 4 Add your edit to the event using the "Add Photo's" button in the upper right corner of the event.  You are free to enter multiple edits into the event. Step 5 In addition to posting your edit into the event, post it on your public feed and tag me @116923280194426907545 so that I can find it.  Be sure to tag it with #ParadigmShift   Please note: 1. I still retain ownership of copyright on the image as I took it :) 2.  Please don't provide a link to the original RAW file in your public posts. Ends on Sunday 02/06/2013 and the RAW file will be dele#ParadigmShift #52013-05-31 11:00:0023
Stephen Godfrey94,853Time: 3pm Location: Newtown Train Station (near the street) I will be there no matter the weather conditions. Even if it is raining there will still be plenty of cover around Newtown to shoot while not getting too wet. Sorry for not updating this before now, been a very busy week. Shoot me a message if you have any questions. ---------------------- It has been about a year since the last time I ran a photowalk so I guess it is time to do so again. Once again we will be heading to Newtown with the intention of doing some street photography. Never fear if you are not into street shooting there are plenty of other things around Newtown to keep you occupied, from the Historic Newtown cemetery to lane ways full of graffiti.  If you are new or never tried Street Photography never fear I will help you get started with a small introductory workshop on how to get started. Oh and the reason I run a photo walk at this time of year it coincides to my birthday so why not do something you love doing around your birthday. More details about the start and finish location to follow. PS I cannot promise another rainbow.Newtown Street Photography Photowalk2013-05-25 15:00:0028

paradigmblue8,282Hi peeps, Welcome to #ParadigmShift #4 First of all, a massive THANK YOU to all who participated in #ParadigmShift #1 - #3. I get a lot of feedback from peeps that they really enjoy this event so thanks for participating and playing by the rules. For #ParadigmShift  #4, I chose an image I had a lot of fun with taking and editing.  As most of you know, I've moved house recently and am still in the process of unpacking in my new home.  After weeks and weeks of this, I needed a sanity break and ventured off to #PortMelbourne  to catch the blue hour around this picturesque part of #Melbourne  #Australia.  If you come to Melbourne by boat, you'll dock into #StationPier  and this is the first glimpse of Melbourne you'll get - the gateway to our city.   In taking this image, I wanted to capture 3 elements - the sunset, the water and the buildings.  To do so, a long exposure using an #ND400 filter was my choice.  You'll notice that I have a dust issue on my sensor so it will be interesting to see those who take the time to clean this up.   Other details are: Filter: ND400 Shutter: 30 secs ISO: 100 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (24-104mm) - focal length @ 24mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below). Step 5 In addition to posting your edit into the event, post it on your public feed and tag me +paradigmblue so that I can find it.  Be sure to tag it with #ParadigmShift  Please note: 1. I still retain ownership of copyright on the image as I took it :) 2.  Please don't provide a link to the original RAW file in your public posts. Ends on Sunday 10/05/2013 and the RAW file will be deleted. paradigmblue8,282EDIT:  This event is now closed.  A huge thanks to all who particiapted.  Be sure to add everyone below to your circles - they're all awesome :) Hi peeps, Welcome to #ParadigmShift #3 :) First of all, a massive THANK YOU to all who participated in #ParadigmShift #2 - it was so much fun seeing all the different post processing pics you came up with. For #ParadigmShift  #3, I'm choosing an image close to my heart.  A few weeks ago, my brother +Dave Tomek and I went on a photowalk around #PortMelbourne   #Australia  - such a beautiful place to photograph.  One of the best known locations is #PrincesPier  - it's an absolute photogs delight.  That is, if you manage to dodge all the fishermen and other photogs in the area :)  For the history of the place, check out the Wikipedia article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princes_Pier The posts in the water are what used to be the extension of the original pier - it would've been huge as behind me still stands a rather large pier. The RAW file was taken during the blue hour: Filter: ND400 Shutter: 50 secs ISO: 50 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (24-104mm) - focal length @ 24mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below).  As always, I look forward to your edits.  Please play by the rules :) The Rules - Share this event on your public stream.  My goal here is for all your circles to know about this and participate if they're interested.   - If the above is not done and a pic is submitted into the event, I have grounds to delete it.  That sounds harsh I know - but I want this thing to grow and get out there :)  It's a small thing to do for access to a RAW file to edit and submit. - Go nuts and edit, crop, process whatever floats your boat - bring out the best of the image according to how you see it.  But try to steer clear of using Photoshop to merge the image with others. - Please note, I still retain ownership of copyright on the image as I took it :) - Post you edit into the event using the "Add Photos" option in the upper right. - In addition to posting your edit into the event, post it on your public feed and tag me +paradigmblue so that I can find it.  Be sure to tag it with #ParadigmShift  - Please don't provide a link to the original RAW file in your public posts. - And in the words of +Debashis Talukdar " it's worth reiterating that this is not to establish the right or wrong way of treating and image, but more an exercise in exploring how different individuals would interpret the treatment of an image." - Couldn't have said it better - so I won't :) - The event is good to go as you're reading this so don't wait and get to it!  Ends on Sunday 05/05 and the RAW file will be deleted. - And most importantly have fun!  Be sure to add peeps who contribute to this into your circles - they're all awesome :) RAW FILE: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9MYbPF71WSeOXZ2T0h6RG1PQW8/edit?usp=sharing#ParadigmShift #32013-05-03 01:00:0043

France, Mont Saint Michel. A Dream Come True

Yesterday I posted an image that was 90 degrees off to the left of this image as the Sun broke through the clouds with spectacular colours and sun beams. What you didn't get to see was how windy it was standing out here on the grassy plain. So I chose to do a longer exposure to blur the moving grass in the foreground to give it a sense of movement and a shallow depth of field look which would draw the eye to the main subject.

While the Olympus EM1 was capturing this 15sec exposure and then adding its noise reduction for another 15sec, I fired off vertical shot of this scene with my Panasonic TZ40 point and shoot. 30sec is a long time when the light is changing rapidly and I'm glad I did. I'll share the resulting image tomorrow. I think I like the Panasonic shot better than this and It was only edited on my Nexus 7.... more »

Taken With A Point & Shoot Camera

Sometimes you don't need a fancy mirrorless or DSLR camera to capture stunning images. Sometimes you don't even need Lightroom, Photoshop or onOne software to polish up the images for that creative flare. All you need is good light and subject and an understanding how to get the best out of what you have.

While my OlympusOMDEM1 was processing a longer exposure I shot this. :)))

Taken on the #PanasonicLumixTZ40  and edited on +Nexus 7 first edition and only using the native +Google+ Photos app.

I'm seriously considering upgrading to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100. The larger Micro Four Thirds sensor would make a world of difference in low light and image quality. +Panasonic Australia I would love to test this beauty out. ;)

Melbourne Dark Skies

Taken earlier this year on a quick 2 night stay in Melbourne. I liked how the light was falling on these buildings in the late afternoon. The sky was cloudless and blue so I converted it to B&W and darken the sky to highlight the light and structure of the buildings.

Even +Snapseed had an exciting update. I have almost a HALF A MILLION followers with almost a QUARTER OF A BILLION views and you would think I would be in my element like a kid at Christmas with 6 grandparents but that's not situation I find my mind in at present.

So in a mojo void a little voice could be heard saying "Check this +Ingress thing out." I first heard the word Ingress when +Brian Rose made the move from Google+ Photo Community Manger to go work for +Niantic Project . I didn't realise at the time the relationship between Ingress and Niantic and thought his decision was that of a crazy man. Now I see his mark he has made on Ingress as he did with Google+ in the early years.

I have lost about 9/10ths of you by now as you have no idea what the hell i'm talking about. Ingress is a game that involves the use of a phone (scanner as it's referred to) to locate portals (places of community interest) in the real world. This is not a game that can be played at home in front of a computer screen. It requires you to get out and be active. I have traveled over 244km going to places I didn't know existed in my local community and around Sydney. Parklands, War Memorials, Commemorative Plaques, Statues, Artwork and other places of interest that I have never noticed before. Yesterday I walked 10km visiting portals and reclaiming them from the opposition. I have even lost about 1kg due to the increase in exercise.

For 2 of the 3 months I was an literally an "undercover agent" as even Dianne Hall didn't know I was"playing" this game. Last weekend I finally met up with fellow agents from both factions, Resistance and Enlightened on their monthly meet up called "First Saturday" FS. Here you get a chance to chat to players you may have seen pop up in your scanner and discover their real names while asking for pointers to improve your game play.

In the photo attached taken at +Sydney Ingress First Saturday monthly meet up, this time at Macquarie University, you can see the wide age range of the players from late teens to late 50's. This is not your stereotypical computer game and thats why it draws the older players. It's a mix of fitness training, social gathering and a childhood fantasy of being a secret agent.

To find out more about this game that has changed the way I see the world and interact with, it go to Ingress's YouTube channel for all the details or their G+ page. Then you can download the app from Google Play or Apple's App Store, make your decision which faction you want to join after hearing what each side is trying to achieve, come up with an unique agent name ( took me 2hrs to come up with mine) and then it's time to move.  :)))

I'm agent Daguerre1839 from the Resistance and will be more than happy to send you an invite as this goes towards my Recruiter Badge. I have 192 invites to hand out and all you have to do is email me at mykaljhall@gmail.com then I'll send it to you or leave you email address below.

My next post will be about how you could win a FujiFilm X-A1 with a 16-50mm kit lens just by turning up to a photowalk here in Sydney that 2 friends of mine are organising.

Then it will be back to my regular posts. Even in a mojo void a few images have been captured.___

Oh come to papa....... :)))

Olympus is excited to present to you the OM-D E-M5 Mark II : Designed to set you free.

Symbolising photographic freedom with its in-body 5-axis Image Stabilisation with up to five shutter speed steps of shake-compensation.

The E-M5 Mark II’s superb video IS ability makes high-quality filmmaking much easier to achieve for the video novice. Engineered to provide ‘pro cinema’ quality stability typically available only with professional gyro-stabilised external rigs, it is so effective that you can even record stable dynamic action footage when you’re running and recording with the camera in hand. Video is recorded at Full HD resolution with a choice of 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60P frame rates.

Introducing another world’s first to the mass DSLR/Mirrorless ILC market is the E-M5 Mark II’s “Hi Res Shot” mode, capturing composited 40 megapixel ‘full-frame sensor’ quality pictures by using the camera’s Voice Coil Motor (VCM) driven IS mechanism to systematically shift the image sensor by half a pixel’s width as it takes 8 shots in sequence.

"Will you walk into my parlour?" said the spider to the fly. By Mary Howitt

As usual I was taking my time photographing other areas of Fort La Latte on the west coast of France when +Dianne Hall said I MUST go up to this room as I would love it. I could have walked away with any of these 3 images and been happy with what I got. They were all taken within  5 minutes from first to last. It's always a good idea to milk a location and subject for all it's worth while the light is good.

I could have walked away with any of these 3 images and been happy with what I got. They were all taken within  5 minutes from first to last. It's always a good idea to milk a location and subject for all it's worth while the light is good.

Which one is your favourite out of the 3???

One last shot of Mont Saint Michel as we walked back to the shuttle bus that would take us to the car. A truly magical place that must be placed on your bucklist.

My Precious....

+Olympus will break new ground again in the Micro Four Thirds world. When i switched over from Nikon to Olympus I was investing in future innovations. I knew within 5 years the M43rds format would provide for all my needs. . i only had 2 items on my wish list. Resolution and dynamic range. 1 down and possibly 2 as well. Sony A7R and Nikon 810 gear lust be gone!!! Looking forward shooting with this beast.

Just putting the question out there, who do I have to sleep with to get 1 of these in my hands +Olympus & +Olympus AU ??? ;))

First Leaked Photos of the Olympus E-M5II

The first leaked photos have emerged showing the upcoming Olympus E-M5II. The camera is a followup to the popular Olympus E-M5, a camera announced back in 2012 that shook up the camera world with its retro styling.___My Precious....

France, Weather Front Over Mont Saint Michel

To say we got lucky with the weather while at Mont Saint Michel is an understatement. +Dianne Hall and I had finished a rushed exploration of the Abbey on the island, a quick 45min run through before closing, and we decided to have dinner/afternoon tea. We found a quiet restaurant with views overlooking the sand flats that surround the area. You wouldn't guess it from previous shots that this is what is actually around the island. Anyway we were eating dinner when a weather front rolls on over the Mont. OMG!!!! I quickly raced out onto the viewing area the restaurant joined onto and fired off this shot. The Weather Gods were on my side these few days here. :))) I also capture a rainbow earlier but it's not as dramatic as this. Lucky once again.

+Panasonic Australia I would love to test this beauty out. ;)

I think I like the Panasonic shot better than this and It was only edited on my Nexus 7.... more »

France, Mont Saint Michel. Remember To Look Behind You.

Another wake up call from Mother Nature. Don't get to focused on your goal that you forget to see opportunities that may be better than the one you had planned.

I only had two shots that I wanted to capture during our 3 months vacation around Europe last year. The Sheik Zayed Mosque in Dubai and Mont Saint Michel on the west coast of France. I had seen so many shots of this icon place I knew I had to see it for myself. There were a few vantage points to choose from, at low tide on the sand flats ( this option ruled out as I would be shooting on my own and didn't want to fall prey to the various quicksand spots I had heard of), from the road leading to the Mont (this option ruled out as they were carring out major roadworks to the Mont) so I chose the safe grassy area looking from the south west. We had to walk the last 900m as I didn't trust our hired station wagon would make the trek along the wet sandy tracks and wasn't sure if I could turn around once we arrived at our destination. So we would just have to walk that last bit.

I was so focused on capturing my prized image that I hadn't noticed what was going on behind me. +Dianne Hall who was standing just off to the left, on top of the ridge, called out to me to turn around. I'm glad I did. I didn't want to move the tripod as it was difficult to find a stable position on the soft wet ground below, so I just spun the camera around on the ballhead, luckily finding a composition with nice leading lines and fired off  3 exposures.

Avignon, France. In The Spot Light

Walking around the cobbled streets of Avignon was sheer joy as the French really know how to light for mood and not just for display. Here they could of lit this area more broadly but choose to beam pockets of light here and there. Naturally when I saw this scene I knew I had to capture someone in the centre of this spot light. +Dianne Hall just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Years

It's Christmas eve here in Oz so I'm passing on my best wishes to all of you that have made this year a more enjoyable experience for me. All your plus ones, reshares and comments are greatly appreciated and keep me energised during those slump moments. 2015 is looking like a cracker year with plenty of growth and new beginnings and I hope the same good fortune knocks on your door and you grab it with both hands.

Ok now for the image. I thought I had edited all of my images from our 3 month vaction around Europe earlier this year but only realised a few days ago I had missed one small village in France.....................PARIS!!!
Now I know "Old Timers" is kicking in.  ;) So hear is my version of a bloody big Christmas Tree.

Merry Christmas everyone.

France, Inside  Palais des Papes

This was our first stay in a "walled city" at Avignon in the south east of France. It's claim to fame is it house 7 Popes between 1309 and 1377 so I guess you could call it the French Vatican city. I actually preferred this to the current Vatican as it was less crowded and more rustic. It felt like I had been here before and maybe in a past life I was. Walking around the cobbled streets during the day and night and venturing in the palais was a highlight of our journey. Just wished we stayed here longer and next time we will. Oh and if you decided to stay there is parking underground but I suggest to bring a backpack as wheeled luggage can be a pain in the arse on those cobbled roads. ;)

Then "Everything That Remains" (also the title of The Minimalists latest book) will be sold, trashed or given away. We'll pack our bedroom and office/lounge room areas as we share the house with two of our kids both in their early twenties and won't put the pressure on them to do the same. Hopefully we can be an example of how minimalism can enrich their lives.

2015 is going to be a year of ridding old habits, learning new skills and sharing knowledge learned. It's time to live a more deliberate life with the ones we love the most.

France, Rocamadour. Fisheye Madness

I couldn't help myself. I wanted to capture as much as possible in one frame so I broke out the Rokina 7.5mm f3.5 fisheye lens. For a cheap lens it produces good image quality and is a lot of fun to shoot with. If you have a MFT (Micro Four Thirds) camera I highly recommend picking one up.

London, University of Greenwich

Just a short ferry ride up the Thames is another tourist attraction the Royal Observatory of Greenwich. There you can straddle the Greenwich Meridian Line and have a foot in both Eastern & Western Hemispheres. After capturing that image +Dianne Hall and I ventured into the University of Greenwich. We only had 1 hour before our ferry ride back to the city of London so it was a quick roam around the grounds and into a few buildings. This scene caught my eye and knew a low angle would be the shot I was after. Thanks to the tilt screen of the OMD EM1 composing this shot was so much easier than lying on my belly to capture this.

"The story starts in 1166 when the preserved body of a hermit, reputed to be Saint Amadour, was discovered in what was to become Rocamadour.

Saint Amadour is reputed to be Zaccheus, the inn keeper who climbed the tree to see Jesus and whose wife St Veronica wiped the face of Jesus with a handherchief whilst he carried the cross. After the death of his wife Zaccheus came to Rocamadour as a hermit. He built a sanctuary in the rock and locals called him Amator (’the lover’) because of his devotion. Hence Rocamadour was named after the rock of Amator.

Within a few years of a body being found (which was perhaps his) numerous miraculous healings were attributed to the saintly remains. Pilgrims started arriving - and kept arriving!

The Black Madonna and the shrine became the main attraction for pilgrims and the town grew wealthy under the important patronage of kings and nobles of the time. Henry II of England was one of the first to come and donate a lot of treasure.

The hospitals and churches, and the village of Rocamadour itself, grew to cope with the influx of pilgrims, as did the 'grand staircase' which pilgrims climbed on their knees to reach the village.

By the 16th century the number of pilgrims had dwindled, and the Wars of Religion had caused great damage to the village, and it was not until the 19th century that the Rocamadour we see now took shape." lifted from www.francethisway.com

We discovered this place on route to the Padirac Caves and only had a brief encounter here that day. We decided to return the following day and explore everything it had to offer, both scenery and food. :))

London, Dark Skies

These group of buildings are in the riverside area near the London City Hall. Looking up all I could see was an image in my mind that was shot with a really long exposure around 5 to 8 minutes. Unfortunately I had left my filters back in the hotel room so that wasn't possible. Also 2 photographers had the same idea and were setup in the prime location at the base of this rather sharp edged building. I wasn't leaving this spot empty handed plus needed a location scout shot for a future return. So I decided to use the same technique I used back in May 2013 while on a photowalk hosted by +Stephen Godfrey. My first experiment with this "Dark Skies" to draw the attention to the buildings. (First attempt can be seen here https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107073852799630124249/albums/5882939381295170705 )

Sometimes people come into your life for a reason.

I'm currently going through mixed emotions with my future in photography. Up until this point I have taken a laid back approach and just let things happen. That has to change and the time is now.

I've been given opportunities that others only dream about and haven't taken advantage these lucky breaks. Life has presented many forks in the road and I keep choosing the comfortable path of routine. I need to heed my inner voice and chase those dreams I keep talking about but don't do anything about it.

I don't know how I'm going to do this but it has to be done. I'll figure that out as I go and share my experiences along the path. 2015 is going to be the year of chasing dreams.
