Elephant Toothpaste

The experiment here is called elephant toothpaste (youtube it). It's where you show the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide in the container. You add some hydrogen peroxide (he uses 50ml) to potassium iodate (again 50ml is what the gif shows) you have to make sure you have about 10ml of washing up liquid in the hydrogen peroxide and that you're using about 10 volumes. also the potassium iodate can be up to 5 molar and it should be fine. The Pottasium iodate works as a catalyst to break down hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into water (H2O) and oxygen (O). The reaction is so fast that this (above) is what happens.
