The view from Kings Park this morning.. this was after some of the fog had cleared, at it's peak I couldn't even see the tree at the base of this photo, or any of the city!

Behind the Lens // Karijini
Without a doubt, Karijini National Park in the northern region of Western Australia is one of the most beautiful locations on this planet. I spent the last three days exploring the Australian bush, amazing gorges and remarkable canyons that make up Karijini.
Needless to say, I am already planning a return trip and I am currently working out the logistics of running a photography workshop in the park itself in 2014.
This photo was taken of Kermits Pool.

Another request to get me to do a lot of work for free.. sorry not free.. for "exposure" and "credit"... from a company who can definitely afford to pay for the work. Why do companies feel the need to do this to creatives? Seriously??
Maybe I'll ask the grocery store to give me free groceries and the fuel companies to give me free fuel.. I'll definitely credit them and give them exposure.
I think as photographers, amatuer or professional, we need to make sure we are valued for what we do. There are definitely times I've worked for the exposure, it's always been my decision though and only when I know it's been worth it!

The Chicago Sun-Times, fired its entire pool of 28 photographers…
…recently with the plans to source future graphics from reporters who will be trained to capture print-worthy images with their iPhones. Reported by former Sun-Times columnist Robert Feder on Facebook, the publication plans to give reporters mandatory training in “iPhone photography basics” as a replacement for the outgoing photographers.

“You can do anything, but not everything.” ― David Allen
It's a quandary when you have many opportunities opening up.. which ones do you follow and which ones do you pass on? I think the hardest part is knowing what it is you actually want to do.
I still don't know exactly what I want to do when I "grow up", all I know is that it involves landscape photography, telling people's stories and travel... trying to work out how that all ties in together.
I love what I do, I just want to achieve more :)

Hey #Android folk.. I'm new to Android, I have the Samsung Galaxy S4. It's a great phone, but just the last 2 days it's been chewing through the battery. I took it off charge about an hour ago and it's used 29% of the battery. I've not used it and the screen has been off.
Any tips on getting better battery life?

How To Reboot, Refresh & Refocus Your Creativity — The Fine Art of the Sabbatical
http://bit.ly/12fFi3E
Many of us have …ahem…fantasies about shutting down the laptop and closing up the studio for an extended period to go try something different. Pick up horseback riding. Learn a new language. Fly a plane. We all know our creative souls need it, but making the move is frightening. A couple months ago my writer friend Ben dropped in to share his thoughts on strategic renewal and scheduling breaks throughout the work day. His post about doing more by doing less was a hit with many of you. Well he’s back, and he’s talking about breaks again. Big breaks. Weeks, months, even…um…a year. Read on to find out how a sabbatical may help you keep that love feeling fresh. Take it away, Ben.
Thanks, Chase.
My second love is soccer. I play it, I coach it and I follow it. (A... more »

Silent Motion, Blackwater State Park, WV
We love to shoot in the West Virginia. There are some fabulous places to take photograph and the colors are stunning...specially in spring and Fall. I took this photograph of Elakala Falls in spring when the falls is surrounded by the rich green moss. What I love about this photograph is the fact that it captures flow of water which appears to be standing still....If you look at the larger version of the photograph you will notice white streaks that indicated how the water was flowing around the foreground element.
__How was the image created?
I used a circular polarizer to cut down on the glare...even though it was an heavy overcast day the polarizer helped in bringing out the rich colors in the wet rocks. The composition was selected to avoid a bridge directly over the falls and to capture the motion of the bubbles as... more »

A bit of feedback with AutoAwesome +Vic Gundotra, I'm a Google Trusted Photographer, so I'm working with the Google Business Photos program, doing "Street View" inside businesses.
Part of the process is to upload photos to special folders in Picasa.. the new #autoawesome feature messes with those photos, as they are both HDR and Panoramic..
I'd really like to see a feature where I can turn it off for specific folders, or even better, only turn it on for specific folders. Rather than having it turned on for 100% of photos.
It would be really nice to be able to separate the whole Google+ photos and Google Business Photos folders.
I'm loving the #newgoogleplus over all though, finding it far more engaging!

Welcome to the NEW Flickr
Well it seems that +Yahoo! was not done being in the headlines after this mornings announcement that it was going to acquire the popular blogging website Tumblr for 1.1 billion. Today in a press conference, Yahoo announced the NEW Flickr. Here are the three biggest changes...
- 1TB of storage for all accounts (including the Free accounts)
- You can now upload full resolution photos
- More access to Flickr to uploaded from any mobile device
The service also got a pretty significant face-lift So, the question remains...
Is this enough for you to give Flickr a try (or retry for most of us)?

Just watching the Google I/O.. saw the announcement of the Googleised Samsung Galaxy S4.. does anyone know if that ROM will be available to install on regular Samsung Galaxy S4 units?

Well it's Goodbye Apple and hello #Android for me.. I've just cancelled my iPhone 5 contract with +Telstra and ordered the Samsung Galaxy S4.. many many reasons for the move, I'm still pretty happy with the iPhone, but it is just too limiting in many ways!
I went with the Samsung Galaxy S4 for the following reasons:
- interchangeable battery
- great camera
- expandable storage
- Android

Hey #Google I'm considering trying out a different #android ROM like Cyanogenmod on my Samsung Galaxy TAB 8.9 (GT-P730T), jus wondering if anyone knows if I'll break things by using the ROM for the GT-P7300?
Or if anyone has any tips at all?
