Just to clear up some speculation in regards to Gorilla Glass 3 vs. 2 using science and official specification documentation.

The difference in brittleness (determined by Young's Modulus) between Gorilla Glass 2 and 3 is 71.5 and 69.3 GPa respectively. This is a 3% difference, and barely any difference. Just as a comparison: glass is usually around 50-90 GPa, mother of pearl is on average 70 GPa. (lower=more elastic, higher=more brittle)

The axial stress (aka Poisson's Ratio) is almost exactly the same, 0.21 to 0.22, which can easily be down to systematic and rounding errors.

The fracture toughness (how hard it is for a crack to elongate/propogate) actually decreased from 0.68 to 0.66 MPa m^0.5, so if you have a crack in your screen, it will spread 3% easier.

Discussions about DRM often land on the fundamental problem with DRM: that it doesn't work, or worse, that it is in fact mathematically impossible to make it work. The argument goes as follows:

1. The purpose of DRM is to prevent people from copying content while allowing people to view that content,

2. You can't hide something from someone while showing it to them,

3. And in any case widespread copyright violations (e.g. movies on file sharing sites) often come from sources that aren't encrypted in the first place, e.g. leaks from studios.

It turns out that this argument is fundamentally flawed. Usually the arguments from pro-DRM people are that #2 and #3 are false. But no, those are true. The problem is #1 is false.

Samsung really screwed up with its Galaxy S4 presentation. Whoever planned it should be fired.

So, here's some rules.

1. Your presentation should NEVER take away from the product.
2. Your presentation should NEVER alienate some of your customers (the presentation was extremely sexist and tone deaf and that's not me saying that, it was Leo Laporte. I agree, BTW).
3. You should make it easy to understand the next features. Samsung made it hard to really get what's new here.

That said, the Galaxy S4 has a bigger screen, better specs, and does stuff like picture-in-picture cameras.

Man, and I happy I didn't travel to see this. A total disaster in my view. Look at the tweet reactions!

Totally took away from an otherwise nice product that has some interesting gesture controls and new features.

When I was a junior in high school, I locked the network admin off of the network; for 5 minutes, as a joke, then I let him back on and showed him how I did it. A teacher, whom I never studied under, observed the prank unfold. She contacted the vice principal. The vice principal did his damnedest to make sure I was punished to the full extent. [1]

I was suspended for 5 days. At my particular school, 5 days was basically the longest suspension you could get, before they started considering expulsion.

Thinking back, I remember now that other teenagers who got into physical altercations, including with makeshift weapons, got between a 3-5 day suspension. Get caught keying another student's car of vandalizing/stealing school property? One to two day suspension.
