I haven't decided if I like this shot or not...

I was practicing with shots after the rain and have a few cool ones, but this kinda reminded me of my brain fog week.....You know you have a lot on your mind when you actually go to the Airport to pick up a friend.....and you find out they aren't comming till next Monday?????

Feeling sorry is for yesterday

Ladies, we all have experienced the kind of day that makes you feel like taking to bed with a box of Kleenex, an old movie and heart full of woe. You are entitled to that feeling, for one day. You get a day to grieve, be sad, pull out all the melancholia you can muster sister. 

For today, be comforted in the knowledge that your sisters have been there, done that, and shed the same tears.  The path you are on is not one of solitude. Look down, see those footprints? We have all been there before and lived to tell the tale.

Tomorrow is going to be a better day and you will get over it. Want to know how I know? I know because we all do. Every tear we shed strengthens our armor; helps shield us from making the same mistake the next time it happens. Oh it will happen again, but when it does we will know better.

some places can take us across generations

This time last year I was in New Orleans with +Dawn Carl for a stop along my America By Rail journey.  I mentioned to her that my Grandfather had been stationed in NOLA for a while and was known to hang out at the Court of Two Sisters.  One night, when we were photowalking, Dawn managed to sweet talk us into the empty courtyard for ten minutes of uninterrupted shooting.  It meant a lot to me to be there -- especially in a photographic capacity because this is the Grandpa who was a photographer and whose camera gear I inherited and regularly use.

My being there was rewarding for Dawn too because she is a professional genealogist .. so connecting people with their family's past is what she does :-)

In any case, The Court of Two Sisters is a charming place.  I can totally see why he became a regular.

I've been playing a bit with a lens I got from Secret Santa....

I"m not sure if I like it. It seems to blow out the light a bit, and gives me some distortion I'm not real happy with.

However...I DO like that I can start showing off more of the buildings and houses here for ya'll instead of just bits and parts.. :)

Well now that I've swamped your stream....I thought it was time to play catch up as I know some of you are wondering why I haven't been here quite as often.

I'm not one to snivel and feel like a whine tit, and so haven't said much about what's going on with me cept to a few close Googlers...Not that anyone missed me....< snort >

I'm gonna be a bit like this frog here for awhile...stationary and chilling by the pond as it appears I have to have a bit of surgery in the next month or so. Seems it's about time to get those three pesky hernia's taken care of. :P However..before they can do that..they have to figure out why my heart rate is going bonkers! < big sigh>the damn thing keeps wanting to jump to over 150 bmp...when I'm sleeping!  Cycling chef downed by hit-and-run motorist -- can you help?

While I don't know Tres Hundertmark personally, I know people who do. They say he's a cool person and an amazing New Orleans chef. Sadly, he was badly injured by a hit-and-run motorist while riding his bicycle. He faces a ton of surgery and rehabilitation -- without medical insurance. Can you help? Kick in some cash or reshare this in some way. Let's stand with our fellow cyclists. Especially when they can stand for themselves.

Good Morning again!   :)

I need some help please.....

I took a huge family photo that is so huge I had to do two shots.    One for the left side and one for the right side....there are 52 people in these two shots, and I didn't have a lens wide enough to capture it in just one.

Does anyone know of a free program where I can stitch these two shots together to make one??  If not...I may have to canvas wrap each one and then put them side by side on the wall....which could be kinda cool..but not what I'm after!     :P

CREPE ON THE DOOR:

Black crepe tied with white ribbon is placed upon the door or bell knob, as an indication that the dreaded visitor has entered the home, and borne away another prize.

This should deter the caller from ringing, if it is possible to bring the attendant to the door without doing so. No one knows save those who have passed through a sorrow, how the clang of a bell, with its noisy reminder of active life, jars upon the nerves.      In many houses, the hall door is left ajar, that friends may enter quietly. The kindly instincts of the heart tell them to speak softly, and be helpful and sympathetic.

White crepe looped with white ribbon is appropriate for a child or young person. For the aged, black crepe and black ribbon are used.

Good Morning Pluskers!!!

I have been missing in action due to some issues in my personal life, but wanted to pop in and let ya'll know I haven't forgotten anyone!!!

I also wanted to thank all my new followers and let you know I will get to checking out your profiles, and figuring where to add some of you! I am not ignoring you...just swamped a bit right now. :P

This little guy was taken last week and seems to be a new regular in and about Jackson Square.....I asked the owner if he'd start saving me his feathers...and he looked at me really strange... :P
