Hard as it may be to conceive I actually kind of understand Klout scoring. I'm just disappointed that they've retracted the most valuable features - like a grid of communication styles that compares your style with those of others in your network - in favor of focusing on each user in isolation. It's the connectivity that helps it make sense, not the one man shows.

Looking for suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions to help my stalled Kickstarter campaign. Many of you have either created or helped with successful kickstarters.  I'm at 43% funded, which is good, but backers have really slowed down and since kickstarter is all or nothing (hit your goal or you don't receive a cent) that's not so good.

Part of the problem is for the last week I was extremely busy with other state and international projects that happen annually.  A person should strive to make the world a better place, right?  (Example:  I chair International pagan Coming Out Day, an organization that works to end discrimination)  But it meant I couldn't devote as much time to my kickstarter.  So it has stalled.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to breath new life into her?  Ideas that worked for you, or would intrigue you asa potent... more »

The emails prior to publishing Divorcing a Real Witch I've gotten are almost all from men who are angry about their divorce. Since you can't teach the unwilling, I'm not bothering to explain to these people why the majority of those approaches have dripped with misogyny, so I don't answer. I got a spectacularly creepy one today on my FB page for DARW.
1. Misogyny pushes people to think "women are all the same." This is why there are so many "twin" fantasy and fetishes - the men and women that buy into this really WANT women to all be the same. Without recognizing individuation, women really are objects. "I'm done dating witches!" said one. Er, good - that means that at least those women are safe from your "women are all the same" mentality.

In the " something is wrong here" moment...going on my way to a sexual health clinic. I'm not pregnant yet I was still bracing myself for potential harassment from protestors. They really do bedevil far more women trying to bring children into the world ( or trying to marshal runaway organs) than they do their target demographic. I should' t have to worry about this when I'm trying to tend to my health!

So, Pluto is retrograde. If you take astrology literally, you can predict that secrets will come out. If you take it symbolically (like wine symbolizing blood, for a frame of reference only) it symbolizes a time to say what you need to say. First, I am glad this issue was spoken about. Second, I wish when stuff like this happens, people wouldn't keep it secret. To Know, to Dare, to Will and to Be Silent are all imperatives in the commands of the Magi/Sphinx/whatever - and since we're all about shadows, double edges, and the like, we should know when NOT to will, NOT to dare, NOT to know... and above all when NOT to be silent. Silence is how abuse is perpetuated and sometimes we need to confront the unpleasantness to root it out.

When I entered the Pagan community people discovered each other's differences and then, after a period of getting acquainted, started having their intractable arguments. Then I took a few years offline - recovering from divorce, finding my feet, etc. I've returned to a community where any new person is automatically assumed to be a rank beginner (with NO questioning to determine level.) If the person says "uh, not new at this..." credentials are demanded as though Pagans have some credential registry. They don't. Verbal vouching only works according to specific trads, and since covens break up all the time, that's not the best system of verification.Now, any time I wander onto a new platform, I'm treated with immediate suspicion and verbal attack just because I'm not issuing list after list of candle colors and assorted repetitive crap. It takes very little for me to decide a conversation wastes my time. Anything about refusing to apologize because the person asked to apologize "doesn't think s/he did something wrong" is pretty high on that list. I have apologies demanded all the time - and it's a VERY rare case where it costs more to give one than it does to insist that I'm right among decent people. Among abusive people, it's a different story - but that's not what prompted this post.

Popova's Brain Pickings is at present one of my top ten favorite blogs. I have no problem with her making a living from it. However, it seems that someone at Reuters has a big problem with her doing the same. I can't tell if it's because they think she's a spammer (a skeevy website on the side is not quite the same as spamming) or if it's just general offense at her making money.
