Battleship was expected to do barely OK in the box office. It did just that internationally. By the time it opened in the US, no one thought it could take on the Avengers. So there's no real story in its performance.

In case anyone's interested, Snow White and the Huntsman wants to be Lord of the Twilights but is actually Lord of the Hemorrhoids, Kristen Stewart is insufferable. Visual effects are good, some scenes are nicely photographed, Charlize Theron looks great.

Caught the Greek press screening of Men in Black III today, and the picture is surprisingly flawless. It's very character driven and progressively emotional, and far less gimmicky than the other films in the series (you do get some funny/ intimidating/ repulsive aliens though). Production is great too, and 3D gives most scenes a real sense of depth.

Firefox Nightly is currently the best general purpose browser edition. Loads most pages noticeably faster than Chrome (employing perceptual tricks occasionally) and presents them better than IE (accelerated graphics and all). Its UI is getting better too (some addons may help as the article mentions). Still suffers from deep architectural problems though, this browser is simply not built for heavy duty use.

Underworld Awakening did screen for critics in Greece today, and it's an enjoyable film, probably better than any fan of the franchise expects. The effects are on par, the action is frantic, there is a story behind the set pieces. You get a huge Lycan, an new menacing Hybrid, and the S3D effects literally threaten to rip your eyballs to shreds :p

In my opinion, Kung Fu Panda 2 won the year in general, it's in a whole new decade for animation (i.e. nothing came close) and it should get the Oscar. Winnie the Pooh was exceptional too, it's ridiculous that it didn't get even an Annie nomination (in the Animated Feature category).
