this has become one of my official #MayStyleItProcess  images.  When I couldn't pull my character out of the water like I had with my fire I tried drawing one with Illustrator.  It is interesting in its own right but not really what I was seeing in my head.  Still, it was a fun exercise drawing her.

so far this is part of what I took as ingredients to create my water elemental but drat it all, what I see in my head my hands haven't quite figured out how to put together.

Adobe Illustrator. the model is from a photograph I took at the National Zoo in D.C. and the flowers are from a shot I took at a local flower show.   It took many layers and then lots of time listening to pod casts while I worked on his skin texture.

I played #breakout on Google Image Search! I made it to level 3 in Image Breakout! Can you beat my score of 1048?   this is all I need, another way to kill time...but its retro fun!

So I get an idea, not sure if I can pull it off but I am going to try.  I have to try because I lost almost an hour's sleep laying in bed trying to figure out how I'd like to get it done.  I've done fire elementals (people made of fire) a couple of challenges back,  This time I plan on making on larger water elemental.  

fingers crossed....although that makes it hard to hold the camera.

according to the exhibitor who was showing these crabs,they said that the larger crab was in the smaller crab skin just the day before.  They split open at the belly and climb out backwards.  It is hard to imagine living like that.  This is from the spring event at the Marine Museum on Solomon's Island MD

oh blargh,  My great casual guild just split.  There are enough 60 to run some raids so they wanted to have a leveling guild and a raiding guild.  Sigh.  I am not a raider.  It takes too much time.   Lets hope both sides survive.  I've seen this sort of thing happen many times before and it usually means the guild fades away.

So I got the insane idea to make a cartoon of this guy using Ai.  It is going to take forever with all this color and his texture.

Here is final image without the text and the extra little mist swirls and speckles.  The one thing I had to watch for was to make sure that the angle of the light was consistent.  I think I have all the highlights and shadows going the right direction BUT I think the dark shadow on the book is not match on the boots.  I probably should have had more dark bold shadows to the left of the boots.  I just was so happy with the texture on my sweetheart's boots that I over looked it.  It is good to put an image away for awhile and then look at it with fresh eyes to see what you might change or if it is truly all done.

It was a great day to go to the National Zoo in Washington DC yesterday.  It wasn't too hot and it only a bit crowded in the afternoon.  I took a number of photos, tossed a bunch and kept about 30 (all in are a Flickr album).  The biggest challenge, how to take photos through smudged glass.  That and moving along quickly enough that my very patient hubby wouldn't get bored.
