I added this photo on an existing album, then shared the photo and keeping my fingers crossed that this works the same way that my albums should work and that the comments are retained on the photo when viewing the album!...and just now realized that posting via albums is not working! Just published on Blurb.com +Blurb Books This book benefits the +HWSI #HWSI charity, the NOW Love Your Body Foundation (http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org), an organization that deals with body image issues and eating disorders. 100% of the profits of this third HWSI book will go to charity. The Common Buckeye on Pink Aster

It’s Sunday so rest your minds awhile
And gaze at the beauty of the common buckeye
In the north they fly from May to October
Sipping nectar in flowers like the knapweed and the aster
In the south you find them throughout the year
Junonia Coenia is the scientific moniker
Hard to remember but makes the wait worthwhile
For this uncommonly lovely butterfly called the common buckeye

It was such a treat to find a male Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) yesterday morning. The state bird of Missouri and New York, it is a beautiful bird with feathers of royal blue and has a very melodious call which I now recognized. Their diet consist mainly of insects, earthworms and wild fruits.

Good morning/evening G! I haven't been here lately as I had been under the weather and had to stay rested after work. Hope to catch up with everyone soon.

Last night I posted a Red Winged Blackbird -Male. This is a flock of Red-Winged Blackbirds - Female. There was a huge flock of them one early morning and almost every branch of the tree was filled with blackbirds and if you look closely every face is different from each other.

The early signs that spring is coming. This is a Red Winged Blackbird - Male (Agelaius phoeniceus) with red and yellow patches on its feathers. A horde of them were at the backyard this morning and this one posed nicely on a branch.
It is my wish to capture and document the many bird species that come to visit our yard this year. In a day or two, I will post the females that I also captured on a branch one early morning.

This is a European Starling which is not a native of North America but is now all over the continent ever since they were released and introduced to the U.S. by Shakespeare enthusiasts more than 100 years ago. I do like the bird's iridescent touches of purple and emerald green in its plumage, but they sometimes overwhelm the other birds in the backyard

Another happy first capture for me of a Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Photo taken 01/29/13 and red is the color of the 49ers who I'm rooting for against the Baltimore Ravens in the Superbowl tomorrow! Good luck to both teams!
