Create a sense of urgency. There's a difference between urgency and panic. Panic is fear and jumbled thoughts, but urgency is putting fear aside and organizing your thoughts to get things accomplished. Create your urgency then plan the attack on your dreams

A little exercise each week can lead to big gains in life expectancy. And that’s true regardless of your current weight, according to a new review study that included more than 650,000 people.
The World Health Organization recommends two-and-a-half to five hours of brisk walking per week, or less time spent at a more vigorous activity. People who got the full recommended amount of exercise saw an average 3.4-year gain in life expectancy. People who got half as much exercise still lived an average 1.8 years longer. The findings are in the journal PLoS Medicine. [Steven C. Moore et al., Leisure Time Physical Activity of Moderate to Vigorous Intensity and Mortality: A large pooled cohort analysis]

A great way to celebrate the end of the world ....
"The Doomsday Ride: a 2300km bicycle expedition from San Jose, Costa Rica to Belize City, Belize. The Mayan calendar predicts that the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012 and what better way to experience that event than from the seat of your bicycle at the historic Mayan Temple at Lamani, Belize just outside the capital city. " From our friends Tour De Afrique.

"Lots of people know they should be getting fit, but they can’t seem to find the time to form the fitness habit. And while I understand this completely — I was stuck in overweight, unhealthy mode for years — I think it’s useful to take a look at the justifications we give ourselves to put it off. I put things off because I didn’t have time, or energy, or I had too many family commitments, or not enough motivation, or work kept getting in the way, or I didn’t feel good enough to run, or I was sick, or other people would make things difficult, or I didn’t have the money for a gym membership … you get the idea. But I’ve learned to kill all the excuses. Or to put it less violently, I’ve found loving ways to let them go and embrace the joy of a fit and healthy life."

Food is fuel. Here are the factors that influence what your daily #calorie intake needs are - stop guessing via American College of Sports Medicine .
This is the real deal -
"What factors influence daily energy needs? Total energy expenditure includes:
Basal metabolic rate. This reflects the energy the body needs for basic functions while at rest.
Dietary-induced thermogenesis, or the thermic effect of food. This is the energy the body needs to digest and absorb food.
The thermic effect of activity. This is the most variable as it reflects the energy needed for physical activity. For sedentary individuals this could be as low as 15% of total energy expenditure but for athletes it could be as high as 80%. "
Details on how to get the above rates at the link below.

Dehydration -not just a summer concern
The body is approximately two thirds water, and losing some of it throughout the day in sweat, tears, and urine is totally normal. That lost water can be easily replaced by sipping on some good ol’ H2O or other drinks (sorry — not the alcoholic kind!) and many foods.
But when the amount of water drops too low for normal body functions (like maintaining temperature, protecting organs, and getting rid of all the bad stuff in the body through urination, perspiration, and… other things), it can lead to dehydration.

"A number of research studies have identified a link between improved cognitive functioning and exercise in elderly people. A 2004 study, for example, found that exercise did, in fact, improve the cognitive functioning of elderly people with cognitive impairments or dementia. In an analysis of more than 30 years of data and 2,020 subjects, this study found that groups who exercised fared better in terms of mental acuity than those who did not exercise.
Can the same be true for adults of all ages? According to a recent study presented at the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress and reported in the Wall Street Journal, it can."
