“People are talking about revolution. What kind of a revolution would it be to have the first woman president of the United States?”

That was met with a chant of “Madam President! Madam President!”

“Not only that,” said Albright. “But she’s just the best!”

Albright was the first woman to be secretary of state and served during the presidency of Clinton’s husband, Bill. She closed her New Hampshire speech with an allusion to the ongoing struggle with Republicans over abortion rights.

Did you know Sir. Anthony Hopkins was a musician before he became an actor?

I didn't.

He wrote this waltz 50 years ago.

P.S.: There is another video with this waltz, where Hopkins hears this piece for the first time. He wrote it, and then hid it for 50 years.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zrygr2g54RU

We all knew it would come to this. Of course the Flint Water crisis would be blamed on Obama.

The GOP candidates and politicians have  at least been consistent in that respect; Any disaster, man made or otherwise will invariably be blamed on Obama at some point. Doubly so if it's a GOP made disaster.

Question for the experts on hard disk recovery.

I have one 2TB NTFS drive with backup data and I needed to create a Windows "recovery volume" in case Windows dies on me... again.
Windows said at least 8GB, I gave it 100GB by resizing the backup drive partition.
I was warned that the process would delete the drive which I read as the partition, as it makes no sense in any vocabulary to trash a 2TB drive to create an 8GB recovery disk.

Yet what Windows really did was just that, it trashed the partitions, and created a 32GB partition in FAT32 format.

Now, is there ANY tools that are reasonably safe/easy to use, and preferably free, that can scan that disk for the remaining 2TB(-32GB) that haven't been overwritten by Windows and recover the files on it?

I don't know, however evidence is strongly against the probability. Or rather the lack of evidence for the position that there is a "higher power" is quite remarkable in its absence.

It is a never ending horrible circle. The fact is that between militants, violence and limitations of the land, these countries simply can not support their population growth, and when the West keeps feeding millions in refugee camps, who have nothing to do, nature dictates they'll have more kids.

The horrible part is that we can not do nothing. These people are suffering, the result is that more survive,to have kids of their own, and the next crisis becomes worse.

The best thing they could do for themselves and the rest of the world, would be to have fewer kids. But that won't happen. The request isn't entirely unprecedented though, most demographics in the west have  a negative population growth, because adults don't feel they have enough to support more than one child.

They have the kids they can't support, and some people use that gut-wrenching suffering to get people to pay up to help them.

As I said, we can't do nothing, that would be amoral. Even if they are essentially foisting this suffering upon themselves.

The end of Moore's Law?

We knew it would come eventually, as the current technologies are pushing against not just manufacturing limitations, but the limitations of the mechanics.

The hope was that new and fantastic technologies would replace the current ones, and bring with it a new dawn of new limits to be expanded upon.

Now Intel says that this may not be true after all, as the new and emerging technologies may in fact be slower than what the current ones are capable of, however they will be vastly more energy efficient.

Personally I think the speed of the individual nodes may become slower, but if the energy usage drops far enough, people will want to add more nodes to compensate.

GAME OVER

CCP's +DUST 514 to shut down on May 30th.

Dear DUST 514 Community,

CCP’s development team in Shanghai has been working on a prototype for a first-person shooter for PC with the goal of building a great FPS set in our sci-fi universe of New Eden (the universe in which EVE Online, DUST 514, EVE: Valkyrie, and Gunjack are set). Their experience is being utilized to build a new game from scratch using Unreal Engine 4 while harnessing all our learnings from DUST 514. This is in many ways an evolution of Project Legion, the concept we announced at EVE Fanfest 2014, but without the limitations of technical debt and development paths we quickly discovered in that effort that could never serve as a future-proof technology base for a full production game.

This new project is still in an early phase of production, and we feel like we’re on the right track and plan to give an update at EVE Fanfest on April 21st as a part of the free livestream of the event. Since this new game will be different from DUST 514 (although keeping many of its great parts), we will provide tiered recognition rewards to our loyal DUST customers, details to be announced.

We are very proud of what we’ve learned and accomplished with DUST 514 on PlayStation 3 over the past three years and it is an honor to be a part of such a dedicated community. We consider DUST 514 one of the best free-to-play offerings on the platform, but the years have caught up with us. It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that DUST 514 will be shutting down on May 30th, 2016. We therefore will not be releasing the 1.3 update as we had planned. Players will continue to be able to play for free on our servers until then, but all further PSN packs and purchases have been removed and disabled from the in-game marketplace and the PlayStation Store. Players with existing Aurum will be able to continue to purchase items from the in-game marketplace.

Thank you for being a part of DUST 514 on the PlayStation 3. We look forward to the next chapter, and hope you’ll be a part of it and continue the journey with us.

Why on earth is it so hard to do something so simple that it should be second nature to applications like +Qlik and +Tableau Software, but apparently haven't even been thought of by their developers.

All I want to do is to load a dataset (via REST), and be able to easily and quickly load additional data depending on the users selection in the presented data.

Pick a destination -> call the server to load performance data for that destination -> update graphs.

The first and third steps they got down nicely, loading additional data without either screwing up the existing data (Qlik) or taking 10+ seconds just to parse the incoming (Tableau) is apparently something that is specifically designed to drive their users insane.

A pair of young guys (17 and 18) had a bit of an argument at around 5 in the morning, one that got loud enough that their neighbours called the police on them.

The topic they disagreed on? Some details about the strength of the Republic in the Star Wars universe.

Initially one of them refused to give the police his identity, claiming to be Count Dooku. Eventually the police got them sorted out, and left the apartment after handing out a few fines for disturbing the peace. The exact amount isn't mentioned, but the fines for that kind of disturbance start at around $200 and goes to $400, per person.

It's probably unnecessary to mention that both the youngsters were severely inebriated.
