Technology Roundup0BMN's Tech Journalist And  Blogger List. IWe Have hand picked the best tech journalists on Google+. Most of these people are active. If you find anyone here who isn't active, let me know and I'll remove them. This feed will rock and roll for the hard core geeks out there.2013-06-21 01:34:13494123CC G+
Kyle Beck0So, I know a lot of my friends who have joined +Google+ wonder "What's the point? I have a Facebook." Well that comparison was flawed from the beginning, although many people made it while trying to describe G+. There are similarities, but one of my favorite features in G+ has been the ability to share Circles with others. In fact I'm not sure I would see the point if I hadn't been shared this very circle by +Robert Scoble (IIRC) early on in my G+ membership. It has proven an invaluable source of up-to-the-minute Tech News over the past year and really showed me how G+ is very different from FB.See, when you visit FB the information you receive is solely from your family and real-life acquaintances. This can be great for keeping up with people you don't see regularly, etc., but it is very hard to reach out to new people who share your interests through FB. Not so on G+. You can create and share groups of friends and pages (Circles) to organize your social interests. In effect, this creates dynamic communities where you can choose who you interact with.Anyways, I hope you will consider adding this Circle, packed full of Tech Enthusiasts. If you don't really use G+ or wonder what the point is, that goes double for you!2012-06-30 00:28:364881003CC G+
Karl Hughes7,360Geeks, Designers, and Interesting PeopleThis is my most watched circle, so I figured I would share.  These people tend to post the stuff that I read and respond to most often, so if you like technology, you should add them.Enjoy!2012-06-13 14:22:22446124CC G+
Scott Ayres6,421Saw +Robert Scoble share this circle earlier. Full of bloggers, tech oriented people and etc. All are great Gplusers and will add a ton of value to your stream.2012-04-11 20:35:35500011CC G+
Robert Scoble1,146,151Here are 500 of my favorite Tech Journalists, bloggers, and pundits. I'm sharing this since I am seeing lots of new people coming over and I'm sure they are looking for some great people to circle here. Unfortunately I can't share everyone that I have in this circle (I have 575 in this circle on my screen, but Google+ only lets me share 500 with you). Lots of interesting tech bloggers and journalists here. Hope you enjoy. This is the circle that starts my morning every day.Speaking of Tech News, I'm off to +VMware. They are announcing new Cloud Foundry stuff this morning. So, you'll probably see some tech news from the folks in this circle.2012-04-11 16:01:035005737106CC G+
Robert Scoble700,661Yes, it's a ghost town of TECH INDUSTRY JOURNALISTS AND BLOGGERS. Pay no attention to anyone from the Wall Street Journal who snuck onto this circle. Yes, this is 500 people, but they are almost all active.2012-02-28 03:05:115005538103CC G+
Jason Kennedy7,286Here's JUST my tech writers circle. I'm sure I'm missing people (they probably exist in my "technology I & II" circle). This is mostly a test so +Anthony Domanico can see himself in a Circle. Enjoy, if you're missing anyone here!Jason Kennedy shared a circle with you.2011-10-18 15:48:2791400CC G+
Jason Kennedy7,286This is Circle 1 of my Technology people. Since you can only share 500 at a time, I've broken it into 2. This includes, tech writers, the android community, and various & sundry systems administrators. Technology Circle 2 incoming!Jason Kennedy shared a circle with you.2011-10-18 15:11:13495501CC G+
Robert Scoble158,666I'm sharing two circles today. This is the first half of my "Tech Journalist and Blogger" circle. The ones with last names that start from A-M. These are people who are thought leaders, reporters, journalists, bloggers in the tech industry. As with all my circles I try to remove people who aren't active (if you see any here, please let me know). And, if you know of folks who should be on these circles, please let me know, I'll add them.Robert Scoble shared a circle with you.2011-10-08 18:10:07341382845CC G+
Jason Kennedy5,989Follow Friday: Google Plus Edition. Many of you probably have many of these people circled already from my earlier shares. I'm testing the fact that it seems like the 250 people-in-a-circle share seems to have been lifted. I am sharing my technology people (folks interested in tech), technology writers, and technology owners. Do you see 423 people in this Circle that you can add? Enjoy!Jason Kennedy shared a circle with you.2011-10-07 13:36:5642318410CC G+

I like Google's renewed focus on design, but a video about how the search box used to be just the HTML default text entry size only highlights how it wasn't a priority for a long time, and isn't in the company's DNA.

Don't forget, 3ds owners in San Francisco: Today at 2pm, be at Union Square (the south side facing Macy's) for the impromptu StreetPass meetup! Share this, tweet it, get the word out!

Also, if you're interested in the new Mii Plaza games (which are pretty cool), I recommend downloading and playing them at least once before you go. There's a lot of talky tutorial stuff the first time you play them.

A good way to think of Xbox One games rights:

All Xbox One games are digital downloads. You know how gamers argued whether next-gen consoles would even have a disc drive or would go download-only? Well, think of it as if the Xbox One went download-only. You can pick up a cache of the bits on a disc at the store if you don't want to wait to download a 15GB game, but what you bought is still just a digital download version. Just as if you bought The Last of Us via digital download on the PS Store instead of getting the disc from Gamestop.

It seems clear that this is essentially Microsoft's intent. It even spelled it out that way in its post on the subject. "Discs will continue to be a great way to install your games quickly."

The disc isn't a separate form of the game. It's the same as the digital download. It's all digital download, conceptually.... more »

Things we gained and lost with the Xbox One games licensing policies.

Lost:
- Can't rent games.
- Can't sell games direct to someone over eBay or Craigslist, or to a stranger.
- Some publishers might prohibit the used sale of their games at all (it's up to each publisher).
- Can't let your friend borrow a game and give it back to you later. (MS says that sort of thing might come later, but not at launch)
- A game can't be passed around between friends. After one transfer, it's over.
- The box must have phoned home at least once in the last 24 hours, and you have to go online to first install a game.

Gained:
- All titles available via digital download day and date with retail.
- All games install to hard drive and can be played without the disc in (also a big boon to devs who can count on the HDD transfer speed).... more »

Well this is certainly a big change. Going to have to live with it for awhile before making a snap judgement. Gotta give it some time.
First impression: I don't like all the weird space to the right of the trending and suggestions. It's like nobody at Google tested this on a display bigger than 1366x768.

I'm going to give DollarShaveClub a shot. No, not the $1 a month razors. I'm doing the $6 a month ones, which seem perfectly high-end to me (four blades, swivel head, ale strip, etc.) and give me basically a new razor a week. And it's LOADS cheaper than the Gillette Fusion blades I buy.

I hope it's great, and I hope it gets super popular so Gillette and Schick are forced to stop gouging us all on blades.

There's nothing particularly special about this day, per se. Every day is a day we are at the same point in our orbit around the sun as we were 365 days before. Hell, the calendar's even kind of wrong about the whole thing today: because it's 365.25 days, and this is a leap year, we're actually about a day early. We'll correct that on February 29th.

But, y'know, Happy New Year anyway!

VERY big news: astronomers have found two Earth-sized planets orbiting the same star! One is slightly smaller and the other slightly bigger than Earth, but they both qualify as the smallest exoplanets confirmed to orbit another star. Awesome.

Mind you, both are extremely hot - they orbit their star much closer than Mercury orbits the Sun. But the fact that we can find them at all confirms that the Kepler observatory can detect Earth-sized (and even smaller) planets. The ultimate goal is to find an Earth-size planet orbiting a Sun-like star at the right distance for Earth-like conditions, and this means we're another step closer to that goal.
