Worlds colliding...
Trying to determine what kind of soprano I am (you know, coloratura, soubrette, etc), and saw this
Voice type
Not to be confused with voice typing
Interpreting "voice typing" to be some process of determining what voice type a singer is, I clicked through.
Oh. Duh. Voice typing.

Anyway, if you have some flowery language to describe my voice for the summary section of a vocal resume, go for it.

Moments in Motion #AutoAwesome
As part of our testing of the newly announced Auto Awesome for +Google+ Photos, a bunch of us have been creating a fleet of Motion photos. I created this one of the Bay Bridge the other week with +Joe Azure. As you can see, there is something so special about bringing a touch of motion to a beautiful scene.
Now it's your turn to share your favorite #AutoAwesome as we begin rolling out the new Google+!

About 14 years ago, I got a bad cold, and my voice became hoarse. At the time I didn’t think much about it. But my voice never fully recovered. So I went to a doctor and was diagnosed with left vocal cord paralysis. This is a nerve problem that causes your left vocal cord to not move properly. Despite extensive examination, the doctors never identified a cause — though there was speculation of virus-based damage from my cold. It is quite common in cases like these that a definitive cause is not found.
While this condition never really affected me — other than having a slightly weaker voice than normal which some people think sounded a little funny — it naturally raised questions in my mind about my second vocal cord. But I was told that sequential paralysis of one vocal cord following another is extremely rare.
Fast forward to last summer, when the same pattern repeated itself... more »

Googler Spotlight: Irene Chung
Irene is a Software Engineer in our Mountain View office. We spoke with her about the various products that she’s worked on in her career, her current role on the +Google+ team and why it’s important to “learn as if you were to live forever.”
What were you doing prior to Google and what made you decide to apply?
Before Google, I was a software engineer by day and an aspiring animator by night. I was working in tech coding middleware for embedded systems, but I wanted to be a part of creating something bigger and more visual. I loved the storytelling genius of creative companies like Pixar and the wonder each of their projects created. Just as I completed my character animation degree and was ready to change careers, Google gave me a call and convinced me that tech could be a brilliant medium for positively impacting the world.

My favorite part of this article is that it says, completely seriously:
it definitely also takes influence from the fact that there’s a longstanding rumor on Google campus that Brin is actually Batman.
So delighted to work at a company where this kind of rumor is actually a thing.

Square & +Box merging to become Polyhedron
(From yesterday :))
Around this time customers began telling us, “I want to be able to pay for things and share files. Why are these separate activities?” After hearing this almost multiple times, we realized we had to fit the pieces together.

So, is the Mona Lisa's enigmatic smile really a smile? What's everyone feeling at the birth of Venus? What's on the farmer's wife's mind in American Gothic?

In the spirit of the epic release notes +Tony Stubblebine packages up with every new update to Lift, I thought I'd jot down some personal notes that capture my early design thinking that lead to the new #coverphoto and some of the profile enhancements that we launched today. Although the thinking and design evolved and was improved over time and iteration, I thought it worth considering where we started from.
So, take a step back and consider the larger picture (yep, keep going… wider — wider still!). Like similar social apps, +Google+ caters to a diverse constituency. Its strength and dexterity as a platform, however, comes from the fact that it serves publishers looking to broadcast widely — as well as those who speak to their audiences more selectively. And as Google's "social spine", it connects people across contexts through content, activities (i.e. with the launch o... more »

Are you attending SXSWEdu next week in Austin, Texas?
If so please come by room 19a and 19b of the Austin Convention Center and visit us in the Google in Education Lounge. While there you might want to check out one of the short sessions in the teaching theater.

SJC sure makes it easy to sit around when you're at the gate 2 hours early because security was a breeze. However, having my +Fitbit encouraged me to walk the full length of the airport 4 times. I learned it's 0.75 miles from end to end, and Terminal B (mostly Southwest) is much more fun.
Now, to Austin for +SXSWedu !
