Old-Time Internet Stocks AOL & Yahoo:
Better Investments than Facebook in Last Year
Facebook stock, after its opening day offering price of $38 per share, tumbled to a low of $17.55 last September 4. Facebook stock price is today closer to its low than its opening day high. In the meantime, Google stock has skyrocketed, but so have the stocks of both AOL and Yahoo!
Is the market indicating that Facebook may be on its way to becoming the next MySpace? Or will the "genius" and "visionary" Mark Zuckerberg overcome Facebook's current situation?

Anxieties: Fear of Heights
I think that i don't have a fear of heights (although my Dad did after he fell off a ladder). I can look out the window of a plane and just marvel at the view from such a high perspective. However, i could not do this job and have this view (from a helmet-cam). O.M.G.

New Google Maps - An Overview
The new Google Maps have been redesigned to be fully interactive and tailored to the individual user.
The maps are rich with ever-increasing data to be more useful and include 4 layers of data:
(1) Local Data that you and your circles enter when reviewing local businesses, including already 40 million precise geocodes for local businesses, 50 billion kilometers of turn-by-turn directions, more than 1 million transit stops.
(2) Imagery Data that is crowd-sourced by Google Maps users and Google Earth satellite imagery. 3D rendering is provided based on all the inputs.
(3) Street View that we are familiar with, but the views are being continually updated.
(4) Base Maps covering over 200 counties, including North Korea, built by North Koreans using Google's Map Maker tool.

Since several people have asked me, here's how you switch from the current G+ two or three column look to a single column interface. Please note that this does not take you back to the old interface.

and check "Change the presentation of some pages to work better with screen readers and other assistive tools."
And you'll have the new one column look.
Personally, I'm getting to like the new look, but I admit it does take getting used to.

Mars Gets Bombarded by 200 Small Asteroids and Comets Every Year
One of the benefits of having a spacecraft in orbit around another planet for several years is the ability to make long-term observations and interpretations. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has been orbiting Mars for over seven years now, and by studying before-and-after images from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera, scientists have been able to estimate that the Red Planet gets womped by more than 200 small asteroids or bits of comets per year, forming craters at least 3.9 meters (12.8 feet) across.

The director, a writer and some actors in the film "Star Trek Into Darkness" will join NASA astronauts as we host a Google+ Hangout On Air from noon to 12:45 p.m. EDT, May 16, about how work aboard the International Space Station is turning science fiction into reality.
Participating in the hangout will be NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy, who currently is living and working aboard the space station; astronauts Michael Fincke and Kjell Lindgren at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston; director J.J. This Day in Music History: Turtles Play at Nixon White House
I'm old enough to remember such trivia, but i don't remember this event; and learning about it today surprises me. Nixon and The Turtles just don't seem to mix, do they? Haha. Apparently, Tricia Nixon, 23-year old daughter of the President, was a big fan and invited both The Turtles and The Temptations to her masked ball.

Famous vegan, after 12 years without meat, has started eating meat again Alex Jamieson is eating meat again, because she believes her body craved it and needs it (at least, her body). I'm trying to become a full-time vegan — now eating salmon, shrimp, and a rare piece of lean beef when i crave it.

comScore recently released the following chart showing stats on video viewers for total U.S.-Home and Work Locations for March 2013. Interestingly, Google sites (mostly YouTube) have as many video "minutes per viewer" as the other top 9 video content properties combined.

Gillmor Gang on Google Glass
This hour-long discussion (and spontaneous short demonstrations by Robert Scoble) is exceptionally informative and insightful about Google Glass — its limitations (for now), its potential and impact as a transformational technology.
There is seldom a Gillmor Gang episode during which i do not get frustrated or angered by a seemingly "out-of-touch" (lol) comment by one of the gurus (usually Steve, hahaha), but in this one — even when i disagreed with comments — i was impressed by the cogency of everyone's stated perspectives. It feels to me that Google Glass is already a transformational product, because it has propelled the Gang to a higher intellectual level of discourse.
