"Breast pudding" ???
I'm constantly surprised by the things Japan produces. Here "kawaii" (cute culture) meets "eroi" (erotica). I shouldn't be surprised ;) Isn't that why AKB continues to be popular?

Wondering which I should pickup:
the Olympus 12mm f2 or the Oly 9-18mm ...my main concern is chromatic aberration.

Hmm :) Wi-fi plus the expected sensor boost sounds nice. Weather-sealing like the OM-D? Probably not.

I have been recently inspired by a number of things that has led to changing the name of this community (preciously "Instagram Japan").
The first is a shout out to +Michelle Robinson for her mobile art and the worthy attention she is getting. While we all have our "angles" or styles of mobile photography (or art), I have to give it up to her as the one who has really followed her own evolution, that is to say, her mobile art.
I cannot define a clear difference myself, but there is a point where one takes a photo and actually manipulates it and creates something completely different. I call that art, and what I have seen from Michelle and others she follows is really cool and inspirational. Now I'm experimenting a bit more, seeing what happens. In the end, I am still a shoot-n-go guy ;)
The second shout is to no person in particular, but to an idea ... more »

I updated the rules of this community since Instagram's terms of service changes.
I am still using Instagram, and short of being some super-famous mobile photography dude, I don't see the big kerfuffle over the TOS. I do realize that there are some that will have to be careful with Getty's terms as there are bound to be little licensing snags.
Other than that, I still use it, but I have gotten on board with EyeEm, another great photo sharing service. I actually like them a little more because...
1.) better app and interface
2.) no cropping restrictions (where Instagram is 1:1 only)
3.) I think their team is really fresh, with a lot more unrestricted creativity (which I feel Instagram lost in the Facebook purchase)
What do you think about the mobile services you use? Why do you prefer the ones you use?
Hope everyone has a great 2013!... more »

Our first heavy snowfall...a few months early.
This was at Tenno River Park, Tsushima, Aichi Prefecture.
This closed section of the old river was part of the tariff-tax-free river system that carried commerce from Ise Bay all the way into the interior as far as Gifu Prefecture during the Edo Period.
Today it still enjoys much reverence from the city's people through various festivals and activites.

Yo-Yo Ma performs a solo with famed Japanese artist Tamasaburō Bandō.
I'm posting this as a continuation of my interest in beauty in light and shadows.
The last part of this performance plays with this idea. Stunningly beautiful.

This is my interpretation of it.

Rules? There are none other than...
☆ using only mobile devices (generally iOS or Android-based) that are sharing on Instagram
☆ posting Instagram work here (or mobile art, too)
☆ posting any news or any related topics about mobile photography in Japan.
☆ Meet-ups and photo-walks are welcome of course!
This is really supposed to revolve around Instagramers and work or news related to our habitual need to grab our mobile device for "the moment."
If Instagram ever bites the dust, this will continue without it as thriving community of Japan-based mobile photography-art.

Hi, I'm Len. I appreciate the invitation!
I live in Japan.
I was turned onto the mFT system through a close, late friend at Olympus. For me the system strikes the perfect balance I've been looking for. Now I shoot with an E-P3, usually with prime lenses. I like moving around ;)

"Creepy Traffic Safety Mannequins"
I made some new friends in Nagano Prefecture. They were waving to me as I drove by, nearly causing me to run off the road!
These are not as creepy as the pole-mounted mannequin head scarecrows I see, but these still got my attention quickly. Aside from fatal shock, I guess they work pretty well!

OK I admit I'm digging the new Chrome app for iOS because of its UI and syncing feature. If rumors are true that Safari will also feature syncing between devices come this Fall's iOS 6 release, it will bye-bye to the slightly slower Chrome.
