It has always been and still is about trusting God and his promises. Do we believe that God is going to do what he has said? Do we put our trust in God and get on the road? Do we wait patiently for God's plan to be fulfilled? Or do we give up when the path gets rough? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/way.html

When we turn in repentance to the Lord, we can see (again). When we live in the Spirit,we are slowly being transformed into the image of God. When God is personally present in our lives, we are able to live fully. When we abide in the Holy Spirit, we shine, we glow, we reflect God's glory to the world. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/how-to-reflect-gods-glory.html

Why do we year after year fall into the same trap of consumerism and busyness? Why do we let the lies of the world consume our thinking and feeling so much that there's not much space left for anything real? Why do we stress about performing a perfect Christmas?
It's time to clear the way for Jesus. It's time to prepare our hearts and minds for Jesus. Only Jesus. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/11/clear-the-way.html

We've all been in situations that seem hopeless. We just can't see how things can ever work out again. And sometimes this period of fogginess lasts weeks, months, even years. Fog indeed happens. Way more often than we'd like it to happen. But when fog happens, the most essential question is: what to do when we are in a fog? How can we keep on keeping on when we can't see where we are going? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/celebrating-despite-hardships.html

This is not a trick question. But by answering it you will realize whether your life has the right perspective or not. What is most important today? It’s not finishing your Christmas shopping. It’s not clearing your to-do list (even if it is full of good and holy deeds). It’s not championing your life, either. The most important thing is..... http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/12/whats-most-important.html

Have you experienced Flow? How about flowing faith? In my opinion, Christian’s union with Christ is very much a flow experience. When Christ lives in us and we are one with God in the Spirit, it most definitively is an experience of flowing faith.

Do you know that God knows you by name? To God you are not a nobody. To God you are his beloved child. To God you are a very special person. Even if there were only one of us, God would have given his son to die for us. That's how much he loves us. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/11/called-by-name.html

Somehow I had always felt sorry for Leah because she was the unwanted bride. Her relationships with her father, her sister, and her husband were difficult to say the least. But as I dug into the story of Leah little deeper, I found out that there was no need to be sorry for her. Leah was quite a woman of faith despite of all the rough circumstances in her life. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/just-like-leah.html

Does does God test us? What do you think? Have you been tested? Or are you being tested right now? The Bible is pretty clear about this. God tests us because God wants us to grow in our faith. God wants us to become more like Jesus. God wants us to dig deeper into his grace. Take me deeper, Lord! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/why-does-god-test-us.html

Do you ever wonder what is Jesus doing now after he has returned to his father? Is Jesus still in the picture? Yes, he is. He is still part of God's plan. Jesus is still blessing us in mighty ways. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/god-has-it-all-covered.html

It was great to connect with a friend I have not seen for a decade or so. She told me "hope you are still celebrating". And it got me thinking and taking a stock of my life. You see, celebrating life sums my way of living quite well. I've always thought life was a gift and we should love life and especially the Giver of Life. That's my heart. That's my soul. That's my worship. Or, at least, it used to be. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/why-celebrating-life-is-important.html

Sometimes people ask me “Why should I believe in Jesus?” or “What’s so special about Jesus?” Or they ask “Do we really need Jesus?” or “Couldn’t we just be nice? Or choose whatever would suit us best?” The one thing they are all asking “Is there power in the name of Jesus?” Let’s find out!

We are not to forsake or neglect to assemble together as believers. We are called to be church together in Jesus' name. No buts, no excuses. We are to love and serve God and each other, be church together. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/called-to-live-in-community.html

I've always thought the Bible is valuable and precious. But the more I read it, the more I cherish it. The Bible is priceless. The salvation plan of God, which is revealed in the Bible, is beyond amazing. The Bible is a treasure map to God's heart. That's why the Bible is such a huge gift. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/11/why-the-bible-is-such-a-huge-gift.html

Openhearted living is what God wants for us. He wants us to be fully alive, living in grace and loving him and each other. The enemy wants exactly the opposite. He wants us to be separated from God and other people. He wants us to build walls around our hearts. He wants to kill an destroy all the goodness in our lives. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/fully-alive.html

There are good reasons why you are you. God made you unique and he wants you to be true to your real self. Don't try to be someone else, that's not who God made you to be. God's promises are not too good to be true. Jesus even promised something that some of us wish he hadn't. Jesus told us that in the world we will have trouble, tribulation, and trials. But that's not the end of it. Jesus also told us that he will be with us until the end. He told us that he deprived the world of power to harm our souls. Read for yourself! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/trouble-is-normal.html

Most people want joy, peace and harmony in their lives. Too often people look for them at wrong places. Very often they get exactly the opposite what they were looking for. Because the only way to get joy, peace, and harmony in our lives is through Jesus. Why? http://buff.ly/HRu7Fy

What makes you yield into temptation? If we know this, we are more likely not to yield into temptation. Because then we know for what to pray. And that's the key to living well. When we invite God into our lives, we are empowered to victorious living. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/how-not-to-fear-temptations.html

One of the most quoted Bible verses is Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God!" Too often we just think of it as an invitation to silence. But it is an invitation for a whole new way of thinking. It is an invitation for a peace-filled way of life! Let's explore! http://buff.ly/1flIHjD

We all know people that either drains us of energy or drives us other wise nuts. How are we supposed to deal with these very draining persons? Especially as Christians? I'd rather not deal with them at all. But that's not a very constructive attitude, is it? Certainly not very Christian anyway. What would Jesus say? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/extra-grace-required.html

God has a master plan for the world. The whole history of mankind is about unfolding God's story. God uses strategy of grace to advance his master plan. God wants to touch everyone with his redeeming love.

Forgiveness is hard. Living forgiveness is ever harder. But we don't have much choice if we want to have tender hearts and live fully. And the Bible is pretty adamant about forgiving too. What to do then? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/living-forgiveness.html

Do you feel like a has-been? Are you afraid that you will forever be just a wannabe? Do you feel like a failure? I have good news for you. There's plenty of grace for has-beens and wannabees. In God's eyes and in the ways that really matter you always are a star and you will be cherished forever and ever. Don't take my word on it but see what the Bible has to say about God's love for you. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/grace-for-has-beens-and-wannabes.html

What matters in faith journey is what we do when we fall short. Do we deny our shortcomings and start pretending to be what we are not? Or do we run to Jesus? Why is this so important? Because if we keep from admitting that we are sinners, we harden our hearts. Blessedly this is not the end of the story. God can change our hearts, we just need to ask God for forgive our sins. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/forgiveness-daily-occurrence.html

Bonhoeffer teaches us how to be church together, how to live out faith the original way. Faith is not just an individual affair, no matter how much we would like to be independent. Faith is not just a communal affair, no matter how much we would like to keep it social. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/be-church-together.html

Do you need healing balm? Lucky you, there's plenty of it available. It's called grace. It is meant for all people. And there are no other qualifications than sinfulness. Hence, I think, we all qualify. There's no one without sin. Also none of us have a monopoly on grace. We are all just happy receivers and meant to pass it on with love. Because we all need it.http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/healing-balm-called-grace.html

Do you pray daily? Or do you save it for special occasions? Jesus taught us to ask for daily bread. He told us to ask daily for anything we need, nothing more, nothing less. God is our heavenly father who wants to take care of our needs and sustain us to victorious living. (But realize that Jesus advised us to ask for our needs not wants.) http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/give-us-today.html

How to build our lives on God? That’s the question. By following the example of Christ is the quick answer. But let’s try to find some blueprints for building our lives on God. The sixth chapter of the letter to Romans gives us some advice.

Are you broken? What do you think? Could there be any beauty in brokenness? Yes, there can be. Especially if we surrender all the pieces to God. Too often we worry about if we have done something wrong when God feels distant. The silence of God is part of salvation life. Sometimes it lasts few days or weeks, sometimes the silent period lasts months or even years. But it doesn’t mean that we would be abandoned. It doesn’t mean that we would be bad Christians.

Jesus prayed “as it is in heaven” knowingly. He knew what it is like in heaven and he wanted us to lift our eyes from the ground up to heaven. This world is not all there is.

Do you know it is possible to hope even when there is no hope? I was stunned by this discovery as I was once again reading the fourth chapter of the letter to Romans. That's where Paul reminds us of Abraham as an example of faith. How Abraham did not focus on his impotence but on God's competence. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/hoping-hope.html

As we mature in faith we need to learn to feed our souls to keep ourselves spiritually satisfied. It is not our pastor's duty to keep our souls refreshed. We need to take responsibility for our own spiritual well-being. God has given us tools to refresh our souls regularly in order to be bursting with spiritual health. The main thing is to have an on-going and loving relationship with Jesus.

Are you trying to be holier than Jesus? A shocking question, isn’t it? But - Lord, have mercy – unfortunately a valid one. With the words of Brennan Manning “Christians have an unfortunate tendency to be preoccupied with the trivial”. When we occupy our time with being just right with every little trivial thing, we are trying to be holier than Jesus. But that is never possible. And Jesus did not have a condemning attitude. He oozed love and grace. Where did we go wrong?

How can we forgive when our heart is bleeding? How can we forgive when we don't even want to forgive?
I hear you. I've been there, done that. But by God's grace there is a way out of holding grudges. Here's the process of forgiving in 4 steps. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/10/forgiveness-means-freedom.html

Are you interested in doing the will of God? If you are reading this I assume that's the case. With the words of Elizabeth Elliot "The will of God is not something you add to your life. It’s a course you choose. You either line yourself up with the Son of God…or you capitulate to the principle which governs the rest of the world.” Hence doing the will of God is following Christ. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/will-god.html

This is a bit funny post but couldn't help it. The writing prompt today for Five Minute Fridays is "write". And the one thing that entered my mind was a famous country song "Write This Down" by George Strait. What does that have to do with God or you? Everything. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/write-this-down-god-loves-you.html

This week our children were asked "How would you describe yourself?" as part of an assessment in their kindergarten. Our daughter answered "I am beloved and I don't pick on my brother". That got me thinking. If I felt this delighted to hear that my child knew she was loved...how much more our Heavenly Father would be delighted if we truly embraced his love and grace? How wonderful it'd be if all God's children could say with confidence "I am beloved and I don't pick on my brother." The first statement is always true even if the other one is not. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/10/confident-in-gods-love.html

What do you think? Does God care what you do on your free time? Are there consequences for your actions? We would like to think that our body, soul, and mind are ours to do what we please. But the Bible tells us differently. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/10/we-need-to-be-redeemed.html

Living out faith seems fun and easy when things go well. But what are we supposed to do when things don't go so well? Still keep going strong? But how is it possible? The trick here is....we are not to lean on our own strength...but on God's strength. We are not to thrive on our own...but to let God empower us. Then it's not about good times or tough times. It's about kingdom living. It's about Christ living in us. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/09/kingdom-living.html

I think we all grave authentic living, being true to ourselves. We want to forget faking and hiding behind masks. But do we dare to do so? Do we dare to bare our souls to others? Are we finally ready to admit that we are not perfect? Not only to ourselves and people around us but also to God? Like he would not know everything already, right? Like God would want us to be anything else but our true selves. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/09/authentic-living-true-worship.html

Faith is a gift from God. When God reveals to us that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, sent to save us, our eyes are opened. When we believe this and receive God's grace for ourselves, our whole existence gets a new meaning. The seed of faith starts growing in us and our faith journey begins. But it is only a beginning. Faith journey takes a lifetime. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/09/what-is-faith.html

Lately I’ve been thinking how our faith could be expressed in love. You know, even the Bible tells us that our faith should be activated through love. How can we do it? Because it’s not so easy. Life is messy and relationships complicated. Our initial response in life, unfortunately, is not often love. So. What to do? How to get from war to love, from angst to alleluia?
