I love joy. So anytime someone is writing a book on joy I am most likely to check it out. But when I heard Margaret Feinberg was writing a book on joy after battling cancer during the last year and half, I could hardly wait to get my hands on the book. Because this book was going to be war-tested and genuine book on real joy. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/proved-joy.html #FightBackWithJoy

One of the great things about the Bible is that people are mentioned by their names. There are lists after lists telling us the names of the people involved. What does that have to do with you? Everything. Just like the people gone before us, also you are special. God knows all of us by name. We are not just numbers. We are special in God's eyes. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/god-knows-you-by-name.html

Winter is not my favorite season. But I’ve learned to appreciate it and to see it as a necessary part of life. Waiting is not my favorite thing, either. This is just a short but sweet reminder to not forget Jesus. Because Jesus is the key to all the locks. Jesus is the answer to all the questions. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. According to Jesus "No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6, CEB). That's why I have to ask: How long has it been that you've confessed that Jesus is the Son of God? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/jesus-key.html

It feels awful when you are not heard. It undermines your core being and it does not feel good. At all. But even though other people don't value us or listen to us we have someone who always does. And that is Jesus. If he is our rock, no one can erode our foundation. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/listen-to-god.html

I have always thought that we should only serve one God and we should not have idols. God should be number one in our lives. I had thought those possible idols would be other people or work or hobbies, somebody or something else than me. But then I read this from Isaiah.... http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/01/what-is-on-your-agenda.html

Is receiving the grace of Christ an amazing race or amazing grace? It is a relief to know it does not require to be the winner of the amazing race to receive the grace of Christ. There is nothing we can do to earn the grace of Christ. It is the amazing gift from God; it is amazing grace.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/amazing-grace.html

Do you know how to be dressed in readiness? Then I want to hear from you. My word for the year 2015 is 'readiness' and I am trying to figure out what readiness means for me and how I could practice it more fully.  We are called to be dressed in readiness. We are all called to be ready for Jesus. But readiness for Jesus means more than 'just' being saved. And that's what I will be exploring this year.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/dressed-in-readiness.html

Do you feel that you are at the end of your rope? Don't worry. As Woodrow Kroll points out "our quitting point is God's beginning point". When we are finished trying to manage on our own, God can step in. Every morning I do plea for new mercy and fresh courage. Because there is no going without God's grace. And guess what? God is happy to pour out new mercy and fresh courage for all of us! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/01/new-mercy-fresh-courage.html

Are you fighting some sort of battle right now? May I recommend a book for you. Margaret Feinberg's brand-new book "Fight Back With Joy". Margaret's fight was against cancer but all of us are in some kind of fight. Life is not easy and battles are certain. Hence we need to learn how to fight back in order to thrive in the midst of them. And this book shows us how to do that.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/embracing-joy.html

Are you looking for happiness? Most people are. My heart cries out for all the people who are looking for happiness in all the wrong places. This is nothing new under the sun though. When you read through the Bible you realize people were acting exactly the same way thousands of years ago than they do now. People are still addicted to lust, allergic to God and looking for happiness in all the wrong places.

The world news are very upsetting, don't you agree? Every week we read about some horrific news. It makes us homesick to God. We long for a place where righteousness is at home, where we can all be at peace. Blessedly, heaven is such a place and we are all invited. Even the price has already been paid by Jesus. Hence anyone who believes in Jesus is more than welcome.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/where-rightousness-is-at-home.html ‎

Have you ever envied the wise men? I have. Sometimes discerning God's will is not that easy. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a huge sign on the sky declaring heavenly guidance "This Way!"  Having your own star would be helpful, don't you think?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/01/how-can-i-find-my-own-star.html

Have you ever thought you could be Herod? The jealous king who killed innocent babies just to make sure there would not be any rivals for him. I used to say no. I used to think he was way out there. Not like me.
But then I looked deeper into the text.
I looked deeper into  my heart.
I looked deeper into the eyes of Jesus.

Are you trained in greed or a creed? One alphabet makes a big difference, doesn't it? The difference is as big as between day and night or life and death. How do you live your life? Are you becoming an expert in greed or are you training yourself in God's ways? What are you teaching your children? Greed or a creed?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/trained-greed-creed.html

Are you full of regrets of 2013? Are you mad at yourself not doing more, achieving more or enjoying more? Are you looking for a graceful exit? How about a grace filled exit instead? You see, hindsight is always 20/20. It is easy to say what one should have done. It is clear how things should have turned out. But life is not about hindsight. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/grace-filled-exit.html ‎

Being stuffed is not necessarily a bad thing. Just be aware of what fills you up. Take time to be aware of grace, peace, faith, love, hope, joy and other good things...and let the busyness, stress, commercialism, selfishness and all other bad stuff go. Be filled with awe and peace this Christmas. Be stuffed with the  heavenly joy. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/stuffed-with-joy.html

If you're not ready for Christmas, don't worry. That's how it's supposed to be. Babies are born when they are born. Most often it is when everything is not ready yet. So if you find yourself in a situation that everything is not perfect, you're celebrating Christmas the authentic way. Mary did not have much for Jesus either. So be merciful to yourself and concentrate on the essential.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/thoughts-christmas.html

Are you stressed out and running around like crazy trying to get everything ready? Take a pause. Sit still and be renewed in God's presence. You never regret time spent in God's presence. Why is sitting before the Lord so important? When we abide in God, our batteries are charged. And we can forgo panic attacks by recognizing God's powerful presence in the world.http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/sitting-before-the-lord.html

And we can forgo panic attacks by recognizing God's powerful presence in the world.http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/sitting-before-the-lord.html___

Are you trying to leave your problems in the past? I have a better idea. Do you know why? Your history is part of you, there's no way you can leave your past behind you. But don't despair. I really do have a better idea. Something that works time after time. Namely facing your problems, sins, any kind of emotional wounds with Jesus. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/how-to-deal-with-the-past.html

We are called to be one in Christ...but we are not succeeding very well, are we? Living in unity seems like a balancing act sometimes. How can we who are so different live in harmony? How can we respect everyone and allow each other freedom in Christ? These are the questions I've been mulling over lately. Blessedly I learned five things about walking in love from Romans 14:13-23. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/walking-in-love.html

The world news seem to be getting more horrific all the time. Kidnappings, massacres, wars, murders, accidents. It all feels terrible, especially in the season of love and peace. How can we be merry? How can we rejoice when the world is full of tears and heart-break? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/how-can-we-be-merry.html

Preparation is a big part of any celebration. The bigger the celebration, the larger-scale preparations are needed. As human beings we need time to get ready. But also God carefully prepared the creation of the world and the way of salvation long before they happened. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/prepare-your-heart.html

Two weeks before Christmas...are you already running behind? Exhausted? Weary? Maybe even burned out? It's time to take a pause. It's time to turn to Jesus to recover our lives. It's time to take a real rest. It's time to learn the secret of soaring like eagles.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/12/the-secret-of-soaring-like-eagles.html

Far, far away in Siberia lived a good but poor king. He had always been told that when the Highest King would be born a star would proclaim his birth. As the poor king saw the star of Bethlehem, he knew right away that now the Highest King had been born. He chose the best things his country could offer: pearls, linen, fur, and honey to be his gifts to this new king and started his journey on his horse... http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/a-christmas-legend.html

Too often we keep dabbling in sin because we think there's no harm in a dab of something. But this dabbling in sin keeps us from becoming Christ-like. One dab at a time we become what we worship, either lovers or enemies of God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/12/quit-dabbling-in-sin.html ‎

Are you painfully conscious of your need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened? Do you know what those things are? How do you get your soul refreshed, supported, and strengthened anyhow? If we hurry and go after all the bling-bling in the world, we will miss it. But if we take time to listen, we find our way to the well.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/refreshed-supp…d-strengthened.html

Today I've been pondering on giving. What it is and what is is not. I don't think we need expensive gifts but I do think we need extraordinary generosity. Material gifts do not bring happiness. But love and caring do. Because when we love each other, we are touched by God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/11/giving-way.html

As we approach Thanksgiving and other big family celebrations, it is good to remember how to be at peace in demanding situations.
We can't be peaceful without being centered on God.
We can't be gracious without resting in grace ourselves.
We can't be loving without feeling God's love. What to do then? http://buff.ly/11U19yO

The sin of coveting holds us hostage in our own lives. The only way out of this mess is the same way that gets us on with real living: JESUS. Jesus is the only way from hostage to freedom. Yesterday at church a senior men's choir sang a beautiful hymn at the end. It was so touching. I am sure I was not the only one with misty eyes in the audience. Not because of the words of the song. Not because the performance would have been somehow extraordinary. But because these older men were standing there and praising God with their song. After decades of hard life and difficult circumstances, they were still praising God. What a testimony. ...

Have you ever read a novel with a protagonist who just doesn't get what s/he needs to learn in order to succeed/find happiness or balance in his or her life? It is so easy to know what's good for the protagonist while you're reading a novel. But why o why we can't help ourselves? We struggle with the same old, the same old without finding a way through it. Especially when we can't even name what's wrong with us. Sigh. Maybe we have forgotten something in the process? ...

Have you ever felt - or do you feel right now - that God is silent? Do you know what to do when God is silent? It is an important faith skill. Because too often we worry about if we have done something wrong when God feels distant. The silence of God is part of salvation life. Sometimes it lasts few days or weeks, sometimes the silent period lasts months or even years. But it doesn’t mean that we would be abandoned. It doesn’t mean that we would be bad Christians. http://buff.ly/1xobnTQ

Sometimes life seems like a desert. But no matter how we feel, God is real. No matter how things seem, there is hope. God is at work behind the scenes. When God appears, marvelous things happen. One of the most famous Bible verses is Psalm 119:105 (AMP): Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. There are songs about it and almost everybody - it seems like it - knows it by heart. I've always loved it too but today I read it in the Message paraphrase and saw it very differently afterwards.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/11/the-word-of-god-directs-our-path.html

There are not many people who are naturally content in any circumstance. For my surprise, not even Paul. Even he had to learn how to be content. That gives us hope, don't you think? It is possible through Christ who strengthens us. God is more than happy to teach us how to be content in all circumstances. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/11/learning-to-be-content.html

From very early own I was aware of the power of my choices. I realized I had to decide whether I wanted to add to the good or to the bad in the world. I had to decide how I was going to be remembered. I had to choose between the light and the darkness. The choice was easy then and it still is a no-brainer. I want to choose life-giving light. I want to be zealous for good. I want to stand on God's side. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/11/zealous-for-good.html

If God didn’t send his Son merely to point an accusing finger and condemning people…it’s not my job either. We don't deserve a hearing from God. We don't have anything to offer him. Yet he hears us. We plea for mercy, but receive grace upon grace. That's God's love for you. He does not just grant us mercy, absolve our sins, and be done with us, but he gives us grace which is so much more.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/11/not-just-mercy-but-grace.html
