Why should I pray? Does it really make any difference? God knows everything anyway, you might think. But prayer has been part of Christianity from the beginning. Jesus prayed and he taught us to pray. The Bible is also full of exhortation of prayer. What if it worked? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/11/fighting-with-prayer.html

Merry Christmas, dear friend of flowing faith! This is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus. How blessed we are that God became a man to save us and form personal relationships with each of us. Lots of reasons to celebrate! Lots of reasons to have a merry Christmas. Lots of reasons to be thankful for. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/merry-christmas.html ‎

Do you know that God waits to be gracious to you? That God is ready to show mercy on you? That God loves you so much that he wants to show his endless compassion to you? Yes, for real. God can't wait to shower you with his boundless grace. Don't hold back any more. Run to God. He already knows all your transgressions and still he is eager to show his loving-kindness to you. What a God! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/god-waits-to-be-gracious-to-you.html

The quickest way to unhappiness is the road the world thinks leads to happiness. Really. We tend to think if we can satisfy our every whim and want we’d be happy. But we could not be further from the truth. When we focus on earthly and temporal things, we lose track of what really matters. Only when we focus on Jesus, we achieve what we were looking for from the beginning.http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/02/focus-on-jesus.html

Do you feel inadequate to be God's disciple? Are you struggling with insecurities? Today's post is for you. Here's what Paul wrote to Timothy from jail. Suddenly Timothy had to take up a primary leadership role and he felt inadequate and maybe a bit terrified of the size of the task waiting for him. Then he receives this letter from Paul reminding him of a very encouraging fact in all of our lives. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/by-the-power-of-god.html

Do you have heroes of faith? Or do you have a faith-filled role model who preaches the gospel (also) without the words? Good for you. My heroes of faith are people who have God's image imprinted on their hearts. They are people who let God into their lives and have learned to bask in his love and care. They've learned to listen to God and trust him no matter of what. How about you? What's imprinted on your heart? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/what-is-imprinted-on-your-heart.html ‎

This past few days I've been fascinated by three words (grow - flow - glow) and how they relate to Christian faith. And they do, quite beautifully too. A real positive cycle of spiritual growth. Let me explain. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/02/grow-flow-glow.html

Do you know how to live to the max? Isn't that every person's dream? Yet so many of us fail miserably. We don't really know how to go about it. Life lived to the max seems like an enigma. Should it be this difficult? Of course not. How then do we mess up our lives so badly? Most likely we look in the wrong places or drift into easy life. How can we then learn to live to the max? Let's find out! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/how-to-live-to-the-max.html

Why should you (or why do you) seek God and his presence? Should we need any other reason that the Bible tells us so? Two things come to mind right away. Hope they will bless you and your relationship with Jesus. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/seek-god-and-his-presence.html ‎

I love grace. Undeserved love towards us cleansing us from all unrighteousness....what's not to like, right? But here are three reasons why I love grace on the top of its saving quality. Because there's no way around it: God's grace saves sinners. There's nothing better in my book. But there are, at least, three other qualities of grace that needs to be mentioned. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/amazing-qualities-of-grace.html ‎

Do you recognize God's presence in your life? Or are you too busy to take notice of the divine intervention? God sent Jesus to the world so we could know peace. I've always thought abiding in Christ is the most important task of a Christian. Everything else is just details. Jesus himself invites us to remain in him. What could that mean in real life? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/living-in-the-presence-of-god.html

I’ve heard or read the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well many, many times. I’ve been mesmerized by the living water over and over again. But somehow I have never paid much attention to the latter part of the verse until now. Or that’s how it feels this time. How about you?vhttp://buff.ly/23c7qkh

Sometimes you hear someone to mention they'll return to God when they get their act together. That makes me sad because they've misunderstood the process so badly. It's not our job to put our act together on our own. We need Jesus for that. But Jesus is more than happy to help us out. Anytime. Anywhere. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/confession-or-excuses.html

Do you use your time wisely? That's my prayer every morning. I say 'Good morning' to God and surrender myself and my time to him and ask him to guide me and enable me to use my time wisely. It's not that easy on our own, you know. Sometimes using my time wisely is doing nothing at all. How to know what to do then? http://buff.ly/1nnufkw

Do you know that you're called to be a saint? For real. Right now and right here. How do I know? I read it in my Bible. When we've been cleaned up by Jesus, we are also set apart for a God-filled life. The question is: how is God calling each of us to be a saint today? http://buff.ly/1RGD5qp

Are you striving to perfect your faith? I have news for you. That's not your job. That's the job for Jesus. He is the author and perfecter of faith, not you. Sure, there are still things for you to do: You are called to run with endurance and active persistence. Your task is to abide fully in Jesus, not to strive to perfect your faith on your own. You are called to focus on Jesus and let him deal with your faith and make it perfect. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/the-perfecter-of-faith....

Mercy will make your day. Nothing else will do. But mercy delivers, day after day. And so does this fresh, upcoming singer Ida Elina. She has a totally unique way to play her kantele, inspired by the gospel music and the slap-guitar players. And when you mix it with her amazing voice and most compelling words, you get a wow experience. Don't miss it. It will make your day. And it will remind you of mercy, that five-letter word that changes everything. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/merc...

How has the new year treated you so far? Do you have particular plans? Do you know the makings of a great year? If you do, then it's easier to make it happen, don't you think? One of the most important life lessons is to learn to deal with disappointments. They are part of life and we need to learn to deal with them in order to live well. If we don't...well, we become bitter and do not live well. When other people disappoint us, we get frustrated. When we disappoint ourselves, we get depressed. And when circumstances work against us, we get discouraged. How could we learn to stay hope-filled in the midst of disappointments? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/despite-disappointments.html

Do you honor Jesus? If yes, how do you honor him? I am asking these questions because today we are celebrating the twelfth day of Christmas. Epiphany means ‘to make known’, ‘to show’, or ‘to reveal’. The kings revealed Jesus as the Lord and King to the world. But they also showed us how to approach him. Let’s find out what we can learn from the wise men. Are you preoccupied with concerns or stressing over ways to keep your resolutions? It's time to remind yourself that you have a higher purpose than organizing your life. There is a deeper meaning for your life than succeeding in your pursuits (no matter how noble they are). http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/your-higher-purpose.html

Have you asked God to show what this year is all about? How has God responded to you? Or have you asked yourself how you should change this year? How have you responded to that?
Too often we try to run our lives without consulting God. We try to decide ourselves what needs to be done and then we proceed to change ourselves according to our plans. And we forget God out of the equation. Permalink: http://www.flowingfaith.com/2016/01/graceful-change.html

You see, hindsight is always 20/20. It is easy to say what one should have done. It is clear how things should have turned out. But life is not about hindsight. http://buff.ly/1ZDpWzk ‎

My word for 2015 has been readiness. I had no clue what to to expect of this year or what I would learn along the way. But the word intrigued me from the very beginning. It did bring some nice surprises along the way. For example, our family was lead to a huge trip to the other side of the world with a week's notice. But mainly this study on readiness has taught me about what it means to be ready to follow Christ without hesitation. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/readiness-trust-peace.h...

Some people wish that God were like Santa. He’d give us what we want. But the problem is: we don’t know what is best for us. Some people do think God is like Santa.

If you're not ready for Christmas, don't worry. That's how it's supposed to be. Babies are born when they are born. Most often it is when everything is not ready yet. So if you find yourself in a situation that everything is not perfect, you're celebrating Christmas the authentic way. Mary did not have much for Jesus either. So be merciful to yourself and concentrate on the essential. http://buff.ly/1YD62Ci

What do you think? Does Christmas matter? Does it really matter that Jesus was born? Let's see. It’s true that whenever a baby is born, it changes the lives of the parents. But one baby changed the whole history and the future of the humankind. That's why Christmas matters, Jesus changed everything. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/why-christmas-matters-or-does-it.html ‎

Being stuffed is not necessarily a bad thing. Just be aware of what fills you up. Take time to be aware of grace, peace, faith, love, hope, joy and other good things...and let the busyness, stress, commercialism, selfishness and all other bad stuff go. Be filled with awe and peace this Christmas. Be stuffed with the  heavenly joy. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/stuffed-with-joy.html

Celebrating Christmas is great. And easy. For real. It does not require long shopping lists or empty wallets. There's absolutely no stress involved because everything is already done for us. Don't you believe me? Let me explain. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/total-celebration.html ‎

Do you know the deep secret of joy? It has nothing to do with the entertainment industry but it has everything to do with Jesus. Because, you know, nothing but Jesus can give us freedom from all the ugliness in our lives. And that's not even all. Jesus can save us from eternal separation from the ultimate goodness. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/the-deep-secret-of-joy.html

How is your Christmas preparations coming along? Are you stressed out about what to wear or how to get everything done on time? Maybe it is time to take time out. Maybe it is time to see what really matters. Maybe it is time to make sure we're not oblivious to God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/four-steps-faithful-living.html ‎

This Advent season I hope you're not running around like crazy. You know, abundant life is not found in shopping extravaganzas or perfect decorations. Spending money will not bring your peace or happiness. You get bankruptcy and hollowness instead. Because you become what you embrace. If you go after false idols, you become false. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/the-breath-of-life.html ‎

It has always been and still is about trusting God and his promises. Do we believe that God is going to do what he has said? Do we put our trust in God and get on the road? Do we wait patiently for God's plan to be fulfilled? Or do we give up when the path gets rough? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/way.html

As I was doing a Biblegateway search for verses that include both faith and power, I found out today that the Amplified Bible explains faith as "trust and confidence in the power of God". That's what it is, isn't it?
If we don't trust God and the power of God, our faith is more of a theory than a way of life. If we truly believe, we put our whole lives on the hands of Jesus.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/faith-and-the-power-of-god.html

We are called to shine. But not to attract attention to ourselves but to God. We are called to shine for God. What does it mean? How could we glow for God? We can't make ourselves glow but because God is full of glory, all we need to do is to reflect his light to the world. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/shine-glow-reflect.html

Life is not a game. But it is a battle. How come? Life is not about smelling roses or walking into sunsets. Neither it is about playing hard or finding your rightful place in the world. Life is not just about growing older and doing something meaningful before dying. Because the physical world is not all there is. We can't forget about the spiritual realm. And that's why life is not a picnic or a game. It is a battle. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/not-a-game-but-a-battle.html

Today I fell in love with the Christmas stories told by the kids of St Paul's Church, Auckland, New Zealand. See yourself, they are the cutest thing ever. I especially love how God's love for all of us shines through them. Which one is your favorite? Permalink: http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/christmas-stories.html

Getting ready for Christmas is not about finishing your shopping lists. It's not about cleaning your house or preparing scrumptious meals. It's not about getting the Christmas cards out on time. It's not about trimming your tree beautifully or decorating your house festively. It's entirely something else. All these other things can be fun but the one thing that really makes or breaks our Christmas is our heart condition: Do we love Jesus more than anything? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/1...

We have entered the Advent season. It is time to make sure there is room in our Inn for Jesus. It's time to prepare our hearts and minds for Jesus. Let’s see what Mary can show us about being ready for God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/time-to-prepare.html

We've all been in situations that seem hopeless. We just can't see how things can ever work out again. And sometimes this period of fogginess lasts weeks, months, even years. Fog indeed happens. Way more often than we'd like it to happen. But when fog happens, the most essential question is: what to do when we are in a fog? How can we keep on keeping on when we can't see where we are going?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/12/celebrating-despite-hardships.html

Are you familiar with God's word? What are your Bible-reading habits? Psalm one encourages all of us to chew on Scripture. What could that be? How would your life benefit from chewing on Scripture? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/12/chewing-on-scripture.html

It's getting dark very early these days. Even the days seem gloomy. We yearn to have more light. We try to get rid of darkness by putting up Christmas lights. But no amount of Christmas lighting can take away darkness of our lives. Only God can do that. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/12/yearning-for-the-light.html

Many people count their blessings. I do too. I offer thanks for them in my evening prayer. Then I move onto my concerns and petitions. Then I do something that brings me peace and lots of hope. What could that be? Being peaceful and hope-filled is the best way to fall asleep, don' t you think?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/11/finding-daily-hope.html
