Despite the expression this guy was actually very nice.
Number 4 in my #100strangers project, I met him on the streets of York - U.K. promoting "Ghost Walks" around the city. We had a brief chat about cameras (he had a canon - like me, but a much better one than mine he pointed out!!)
He scared my children slightly before moving on to further promote his business. But not before kindly posing for a couple of shots.....this one being my favourite.
Pretty much #sooc other than some slight vignetting.

No Pain No Gain
Heavily - heavily cropped image so not really happy with the sharpness.

The Tees Regatta again from last weekend.
Obvious vignetting and I played around with the saturation aswell. It was a very flat grey day so I didn't have much to work with.
Edited in my newly acquired Lightroom 4.4

A re-share of a portrait photo I took last year.
The reason for sharing once again is that I have recently been asked to display this photo in a gallery.
The original story was that I met this old lady outside of a local church. I approached her and engaged in conversation and we chatted for around 5 minutes, after which I asked if I could take her portrait. She seemed slightly uneasy (maybe shocked at such a request) but said yes nonetheless. I loved the outcome so I had a print made for her and took it to the church some weeks later. Not knowing her name I asked one of the parishioners who were there if they recognised her. They said yes immediately so I left it with them to pass on to her.
She may have placed it somewhere in her home, put it in a drawer or thrown it away - either way I love the shot and it reminds me of a time when I met a lovely old lady who was happy to j... more »

Technically there is so much I could have done better with this shot but it was one of those moments that you just had to capture quickly.
I cropped it heavily at first but then changed my mind as I could leave out my sister in laws reaction at the bottom of the shot.
My two older brothers with my youngest son.

Taking a look through the brilliant +Thorn Button 's photos, it reminded me of a self portrait I took whilst being inspired by Thorn's work.
Thought I would re-share.

Inspired by +Terry Lambert and his recently found passion for B+W photography, I've revisited a shot I took at Saltburn almost a year ago. Heavily cropped from the original and given the B+W treatment...

Whether you write the day first (or incorrectly like our American friends :-))...today is 12/12/12
Surely some people somewhere will think the world is going to end at 12 minutes past mi-day today. For those people, please enjoy Snow Patrol - Chocolate one last time. Superb music video showing the end of the world.

This is the first time any of my photographs have been displayed publicly.
Probably my favorite shot that I've taken over the last 12 months since I've taken up photography is this one - the Infinity Bridge in Stockton-on-Tees. I've had loads of positive comments, I just need someone to offer to buy it off me now to cover the canvas costs!!

The object of yesterdays walk
Captain Cook's Monument
The inscription on the monument reads:
In memory of the celebrated circumnavigator Captain James Cook F.R.S. A man of nautical knowledge inferior to none, in zeal prudence and energy, superior to most. Regardless of danger he opened an intercourse with the Friendly Isles and other parts of the Southern Hemisphere. He was born at Marton Oct. 27th 1728 and massacred at Owythee Feb. 14th 1779 to the inexpressible grief of his countrymen. While the art of navigation shall be cultivated among men, whilst the spirit of enterprise, commerce and philanthropy shall animate the sons of Britain, while it shall be deemed the honour of a Christian Nation to spread civilisation and the blessings of the Christian faith among pagan and savage tribes, so long will the name of Captain Cook stand out amongst the most celebrated and... more »

Looking through my Google+ statistics (I love statistics) I notice that 6 people un-circled me on Saturday. I posted 3 photos that day that received more +1's than any of my other photos. Curious. I can only assume those 6 people don't like Saltburn Pier or benches.

I have been included and shared in a few circles since joining G+ 6 months or so ago and have found it has opened many doors to new people and afforded me the opportunity to interact, share and converse with some great users on this platform.
I have a circle of people that I have found to be genuinely warm hearted and a pleasure to interact with.
My photography skills pale in comparison to some of the work produced by these people, however; they never seem to shirk away from taking the time to comment, +1 or even share my work with their own G+ community.
The people in this circle are the people who's opinions I value the greatest and who's comments give me the most satisfaction and I have immense pleasure in sharing this circle with the people who follow me or who may see this post.
If you want to see some stunning, creative, honest and inspiring... more »
